Kael Cor: A Vampire’s Awakening - Chapter 408 The Morrigan IX
Running across an ocean was definitely a new experience for me, Teluna and Gus on the other hand were quite famous back on Spero, they’ve raced over volcanoes during the annual war-games, so this was not that new of an experience for them. Either way, it didn’t take us long to run across an entire ocean that would take weeks if not months for the people to sail. For us, fifteen minutes was just enough, and that was because we took the scenic route.
We came upon a mainland that was dense with trees and devoid of life. Come to think of it, I don’t think I’ve had the pleasure of going adventuring in a jungle, sure I had parked my ship in a hidden valley in a forest back on the surface, but going and walking through a real jungle, this was definitely a first for me. I was looking forward to the mosquitoes, spiders, bugs, poisonous plants and toads and all that shit normally associated with the jungle. And it would have been nice if not for the very obvious fact that the fucking Jungle was completely devoid of life.
Taking a closer look, and I almost threw up in revulsion. The jungle was vibrant and green and fresh, but it had no life, no substance and no essence. Even the wind wasn’t blowing, making this jungle seem no more than a pretty picture.
There was nothing alive in here, not even the trees, and the thing is vampires were very perceptive to life, even an undead skeleton had life that a vampire can trace or absorb, much less trees and plants. But there was nothing, the trees felt and looked real, but comparing them to cardboard paper wouldn’t be a stretch.
“This place is weird.” Teluna spoke up as if to make an astute observation.
“Well how’d you figure that out, you’re so smart.” Rhea replied him with a smile and a tone of voice that spoke volumes of her sarcasm. Teluna rolled his eyes as Gus took a knee and placed his hands on the earth, Rhea followed not too far behind also.
They both got up about three seconds later and turned to me, Rhea had a pensive look on her face, but Gus was as bland as always, but none the less I’m sure they’ve realized the same thing that I have, Rhea’s ability with the earth element and Gus’s mental abilities were amongst the best in existence, when you take gods out of the equation that is.
“This place is not alive, there’s no vibrations, no motion nothing! It’s like a dead zone.” Rhea said, but Gus had a different opinion.
“Its alive alright, but not in the way you would expect. It was created wasn’t it, it just has no essence, basically it’s similar to what the High king had experienced during his travels through Transylvania. This a creation of place that exists outside of the influence of nature, but unlike that forest, this place is more like a decoration. There’s no threat from it, but that aside, I haven’t been able to sense any life Within a twenty kilometer radius, and that’s just how far my perception can stretch. We should keep on moving, no need to dwell on this place, it’s inconsequential to our goals.”
I shook my head, Gus was just so straightforward and objective in the way he does his things. If there was no use dwelling on something, then he would be moving on with his actions rather than poking around. he was too serious as a child and as an adult that hadn’t changed. Well this was who he is, it’s quite a surprise that he’s friends with Rhea and Teluna, those two were savages.
“all right lets get going, or rather I’ll get going. I’m faster than all of you, teleport every 5 minutes, it would save you guys the stress and make sure you’re ready for a fight. I’ll keep an even speed though, Sobek will see me coming, but I don’t want him to see me as a threat. You guys should keep a sharp eye out.”
*Booom!*
Blasting the forest apart with my speed as I moved was not exactly necessary, but the place gave me the creeps even worse than that forest in Transylvania. It with that out of the way I do used on running, if this could be called running and not outright flying. My feet barely touched the earth beneath them as I rushed across the land, dragging and scaring it in such a manner that should someone be watching from a high enough altitude, they’ll notice the scar going on for kilometers upon kilometers.
There was nothing around to signify that there was any sort of civilization thriving in the second or rather third floor. But I’m sure there has to be, after all transactions were being held between it and the floor above, with it’s major entrance being in the capital of the Bork empire. So the only other option is that this particular landmass we’re on is quite special and exists quite a distance away from civilization.
After twenty minutes of travel, and four teleportation, I could see a mountain in the distance, it looked like a giant wizards hat with it’s pointed tip pointing to the sky. But apart from that there were ominous clouds as thick as volcanic ash, and it was ruffled with lightning and the books of thunder, and then there’s the massive dragon wrapped around the mountain which if I might add was also having a stare down with three individuals.
“You got here a lot faster than I thought High King Kael, and you weren’t even trying your best…I’m impressed, especially since you used such a brute and uncultured way to get here, it baffles me how you’re the king of the most powerful civilization in all of history.”
White hair, red lips, a black war dress, bow and a quiver of arrow, a Raven and a horse…..yep! that’s a war goddess alright. Badb came here ready for war, I guess I can’t really hope to disappoint, but it was not yet time to expose my cards.
“So Spero is called the most powerful civilization in all of history? Wow! that’s the first I’m hearing of it, but then again they’re right. And the funny thing is we’re not even at the height of what we can achieve, not for a very long time anyways.” I answered her as I kept my gaze on her sisters who looked no different from her, except for the black veins creeping and pulsing on one part of their face.
“Are you ready? This is not going to be an easy fight.” She said to me as the horse she was on pounded at the ground and released steam from it’s nostrils seemingly agitated and ready to rush towards the mountain and the glory of battle. It was in that moment Xaseah, Rhea, Gus and Teluna teleported besides me, all decked up in armor and ready for a fight. I looked at Badb and smiled before giving her an answer.
“Yes……I’m ready now!”
