Kael Cor: A Vampire’s Awakening - Chapter 412 Pangeas Dusk 2
There was a lot of things we both weren’t saying, communication with David should have been easy, even more so when the guy was the most powerful telepath in the entire universe. But we couldn’t say anything, all we could do was single mindedly focus on our task and try to save the world that was practically or almost a mirror image of earth.
Pangea had similarly named cities and towns, very obvious copies of people on earth, an alternate version of themselves or something like that. I knew deep down that this planet was not just important to David, it was also important to earth. I suspected that it was an anchor, Earth was outside of the layers, and even when the entire layers had fully merged, earth would need an anchor to draw it into the layers and keep it safe from the devourer.
At the moment the devourer could only gain access because he was basically hacking a cosmic frequency. He was using the same frequency that earth was using to keep in touch with the layer universes to cause havoc, and that frequency could not be cut off, the only way to get him away is to make earth inaccessible to him.
It was a fool proof plan, or rather it was, because right now, it looks like the dark council would have succeeded in dealing a crippling blow to earth and to the dragon kings. I looked up at the massive dungeon planet heading for myself and the planet below, it was beautiful. Lush green fields, millions of mikes of oceans and forests, life, plants, trees, birds, animals of all sorts and people, so much people that I couldn’t count and that all of my eyes couldn’t cover.
*Crack! *
The planet wasn’t close enough yet, but my shield was already cracking, but that much was understandable. Magic might exist, but the natural law was still something that had to be observed, the laws of physics might have been broken and defied by me so many times any scientist from earth would have a headache, but it still existed.
Two celestial bodies this close would be attracted to each other by the gravitation pull of both planets. It would be like two magnets being drawn to each other, and while I’m a god, I’m not the god, and quite honestly I’m severely weaken at the moment. Probably only a high god would be able to fully stop the advent of both planets, or rather not stop, but stall long enough for David to get most of the population of Pangea off the planet.
But in the end I wasn’t strong to do this, it was way beyond my power level, and I hate it. Even with all of the strength I’ve gained, it seems it’s still not enough for me to face every obstacle my way. There was a ceiling to be reached in how powerful anybody can become, I’ll get there one day, but right it seems I’m too far away.
*Crack! *
Golden blood began to pour out of my eyes and at the side of my lips, the pressure was too much because at the moment I felt as if my body was being pulled in two separate directions and it stung, the pain was almost unbearable until I felt someone behind me. It was David, and there was a solemn look on his face, the fa t that he could withstand the pressure that was current threatening to tear my body apart was terrifying, but here he was, hanging on like it meant nothing.
“That’s enough Kael, there’s nothing more we can do, we have to head to Shearath and see if we can stop the other dungeon planet before it gets as close as this. I believe we can pool our abilities to make it work.” But I wasn’t having any of that, I’m a god I wouldn’t give up that easily.
“No! go back down and save the people, I can buy you another ten to fifteen minutes, this is the least we can do, now hurry up.” All of a sudden he sighed, and when he did that, I couldn’t help the feeling that something was wrong.
Then he moved forwards and grabbed me from behind, his warm palm was on my forehead as he slowly but assuredly said to me.
“I know you’re an incredibly stubborn man, but there’s nothing you can do. I’ve saved as much as I could, as for the others, you don’t have to worry…they’re already dead!” the moment he said that I felt a chill go down my spine, I shifted my awareness to the planet below and all I could feel was nothing.
Everything there had died, the plants, the animals, the people. Their brains had just shut down, as if someone had flipped a switch and completely turned them off, like their lives meant nothing. This was not something that even I would have had the stomach to do, and honestly my hands weren’t clean, but this level of conviction for the home he grew up in. he was horrifying.
“It was the Humane thing to do Kael, and no I can’t do the same for the other planet, I tried. There’s interference. Killing. killing billions of people in a second has taken its toll on my mind, and on my heart. There’s nothing else to be done, so for now. just sleep.”
And just as he said that, my eyes closed and unconsciousness and relief caught up to me, but it was only for a second. I may not be the god of death, but I was the god of souls. I felt them die, felt their anguish, their pain, their horror. So many were swallowed up by the heat and flames, some fell to the quakes as their homes fell apart and the planet that has housed them for generations split under their feet.
Some were frozen by the surge of cold, some drowned under the crushing pressure of tidal waves, many were burnt to a crisp by the impact. It was death, a lot of it, and I could feel all of the souls, I could feel the pain they all felt at the moment of their death. It was too much, so much so that all I wanted to do was to hurdle up in one corner of my mind and hide.
Three hundred and sixty-eight billion souls, human, animal, and plants alike. Everything with a soul on Pangea, all of them. It was death un like anything I’ve ever felt or experienced, and I doubt I hope I never get to experience such a thing again, but ultimately I could feel it, a weakness or rather a disconnection, a weak link. for a long time, there has been an awareness in my mind and bones, in my thoughts and in my blood, I’m my energy and my actions, but now with Pangea gone I couldn’t feel it.
“I can’t feel the earth!”
