Kael Cor: A Vampire’s Awakening - Chapter 413 Who Wants To Figh
Misfortune they say never strikes twice, maybe that was true, but today has just been on bad new after the other. We lost platoon after platoon of soldiers, dangerous as we were, we were still taking the high road, and as a result dozen of our soldiers have already lost their lives. It was frustrating, and also infuriating, we were trying to save the fucking universe and there were people who didn’t want that to happen, people who felt that a universe bathed in darkness with no individuality was the right thing to have, I never felt so bloodthirsty.
“pardon my intrusion high King Kael, but his highness prince Michael is here to see you! I know your orders were to not let anyone in, but the prince has been standing outside for the past hour, should I?”
“It’s no problem, just let him in.” I said to the guard as I shifted my gaze to the massive planet that was drawing ever close to Spero.
I turned my head just as Michael walked in, he was stronger, way too strong, but yet it was subdued. That much was expected though, his father is a god after all. The stronger I become, the stronger he and his sister also become, benefiting from the same faith that the people have in me, though I wished she was here with him.
“Dad are you okay?”
I honestly don’t know who he gets that kind heart from, its definitely not from me, and while his moms could be considered as some of the most selfless people I know, Michael was on a whole other level from what I would consider normal. He was just so pure, so innocent. I fear his sister would go much farther than he would, maybe I should make her queen instead, she has the backbone to make the tough choices, but then it hit me. I couldn’t help smiling as I pulled him close for a hug.
He reminded me of me; of Jason, and a world where things used to be simple, I wanted to build a world for him and his sister, a world that he never has to fight in, but I’ve failed, he’s grown up in a peaceful place and peaceful but danger and conflict still found him, but even then, just like Jason he stood up for himself, fought for me, and yet even with the loss of his sight he still remained the same, positive and strong.
I’m not so disillusioned that I couldn’t see the darkness hanging within my son, or so blind that I couldn’t see the pain and the loneliness, but he seems to believe he has to hold on for everyone, that even with her brash personality he still has to look out for his sister. At his age he’s more of a man than I ever was, and I’m so proud of him.
“I’m doing Okay Kiddo, just upset about a lot of things.” I said to him with a smile.
“And You call that being okay? You’re losing your mind old man.” I raised an eyebrow at that and couldn’t help but laugh out loud, he on the other hand had dumfounded look on his face as he asked.
“What? Was it something I said?”
“You’ve been hanging around Teluna a little too much haven’t you?” I asked him as I got up and walked out my balcony.
“I make it my mission to steer clear of that vampire dad, his exuberance is a little too much to handle. And I heard when he was younger he used to be ice cold what did you do to him?” I shook my head, then remembering my son really couldn’t see in the normal sense I said.
“In my opinion Teluna was already crazy, he just needed the right environment and people to blossom into his true self. But enough of that, you said something about me losing my touch. I hear you use swords, while your pops can’t compare to water dragon king in that regard, I’m a fuc err a freaking god! And I use a sword, so how about I beat you down to size for looking down on your ‘old man’, I promise I’ll be gentle.”
“Now you sound like a creepy old man, but I’ll take you up on that offer, I need some help with combat anyway, and I need to know more about runes. However, if I win what would I get?” he asked me as he turned with a rather excited look on his face, all I said was…
“You won’t win Kid.” And made sure to make my voice as bland as possible.
“Ah a ah! What if I win though, I mean you can’t be so shameless as to go full God mode on a thirteen-year-old now would, especially your own son.” He said as he dragged me to edge of the balcony, overlooking a lush garden with a wide enough area for a battle.
“It’s precisely because you’re my kid that I’m going to go all god mode on you, you need to see the full scope of your old man’s powers and aim to surpass me.” I said to him, only for Asha to show up beside me with a smile and Cassiel in tow.
“So you’re really going to be shameless and bully your own son in a fight?” she asked as Xaseah came in dragging a despondent Rhea along.
“Well he left said son and a Daughter alone for years so I guess his shamelessness knows no bounds.” Cassiel said as she folded her hands and quickly ducked getting cuffed over the head by her mom, I smiled and said.
“You’ve got a lot of issues to deal with Kid, there’s just so much preteen angst and unreasonable traits in you, but it’s not your fault, both your mothers hardly ever listen to me.” My choice of words earned me a glare, but what were they going to do to me? Spank me? They wish they could.
“So how about you put your money where your mouth is young lady, I’ll take you and your brother on, if I win you both do what I say, if I lose I’ll give and do whatever you both want, but with certain boundaries in place of course. And ill suppress my powers to the lowest level possible, now who wants to fight?”
