Kanzen Kaihi Healer no Kiseki - VOL 3 CHAPTER 14
Chapter 14 – Greater Special Training In The Demon King Castle’s Underground Dungeon
I woke up from the cold and wrapped myself in a blanket. If I thought about it again, sleeping in a place like this was really the definition of happiness. I closed my eyes, thinking of going back to sleep, when the door opened and Lusha came in.
“Good morning, Hiroki! It’s morning already!!”
“…I’m good, Lusha. Good morning.”
Lusha came to wake me up, so I couldn’t sleep anymore, I got up from the bed and stretched.
“Why are you so tense, Lusha?”
“Huh? …Well, because this place is so gorgeous I can’t settle down when I’m alone. It’s ten times worse than staying at a high-class inn. Even the bed is so soft and fluffy… why are you somehow fine?”
“Well…”
It’s true that the things here are luxury goods, but I originally lived in Japan, so… in the end, this was still somewhat inferior. I might be impressed if they can one day make a duvet from rare monsters…
“Anyway, I’m going to change, so you can go ahead and eat breakfast.”
“Huh!? No, I’ll wait, we’ll go together!”
It seems she’s still uneasy about walking alone in this castle.
“Alright, give me a minute.”
“Okaaay.”
Once Lusha was out of the room, I hurriedly washed my face and changed into my usual outfit. When I left, Lusha was waiting next to the door, and we went to the dining room together.
◆ ◆ ◆
“Oh! Good morning, you two!”
“Good morning.”
When we arrived, the Shop Fairy waved to us, already seated. The Demon King was eating beside her and also greeted us.
“Good morning.”
“Good morning. Thank you very much for the wonderful room.”
As soon as Lusha and I sat down, the maid prepared our breakfast: salad, bacon, eggs, fruit, and yogurt. Along with that were several kinds of bread in their respective baskets, made to be eaten as you liked.
The Demon King looked at me and slowly opened his mouth.
“The dungeon we plan to go to is in the basement of this castle.”
“The basement?”
“Yes. It was a dungeon known only to Demon Kings for generations.”
“Wha—!?”
I was shocked that he told me such a big secret without hesitation. No, no, no, is it really okay to tell me just like that? No, it can’t be fine! As usual, I couldn’t see his eyes because of his long bangs, but he basically said it was no problem.
“I trust you, so it’s fine.”
“T-thank you very much…”
He trusted me more than I expected, which put considerable pressure on me. Then again, I’d have to live up to his expectations. In other words, we were going to do our best to raise his level.
◆ ◆ ◆
Led by the Demon King, he took us to the basement of the tower where his room was located. It looked like a big storage area at first glance, but apparently the dungeon was accessible from here.
“Since it is my room, only a limited number of people can enter it.”
“Why, I’m the only one with free access to Your Majesty’s room, though,” the Shop Fairy chimed in.
That was to say that unless you got along with him very well, you wouldn’t be invited to the Demon King’s room. Moreover, he was a shut-in.
I thought he was going to use some kind of magic to open the way to the dungeon, but then he just flipped the carpet up and lifted a hatch in the floor, revealing a spiral staircase leading to the basement. I almost shouted Whaat, that was so simple! but I held it in.
“Well then, let’s go.”
“Okay…?”
The Demon King suddenly reached out his hand to us, but Lusha and I just stared in confusion. It was just a normal staircase, so I didn’t think we needed to hold hands. He could probably tell what I was thinking, and said “No,” while shaking his head.
“No one can enter this dungeon other than myself. By touching me, you’ll be recognized as part of me and be allowed to enter.”
“Ah, I see…”
It seemed there were tighter regulations than I thought. I took the Demon King’s hand while holding Lusha’s hand with my other one, and Lusha also held the Shop Fairy’s hand. In this way, everyone could enter this secret dungeon in the Demon King’s castle.
When we passed through the entrance, we certainly got a feeling like we’d walked through some kind of membrane.
“Is this it?”
“Yes. It is my first time entering it as well.”
The appearance of the inside of the dungeon was the usual stone walls and floors. There were cracks in some places, and glowing ore faintly peeped through the gaps, illuminating the area. Lusha looked at it with interest and asked, “Are they jewels?” to the Shop Fairy.
“Why, it’s a high-quality magic ore. It’s one of the resources that can be mined on the mountain where the Demon King’s castle is located, and it has the characteristic of growing.”
“Magic ore!? I’ve only seen some with a dull color so far, this is the first time I’ve seen any that was so beautiful…”
Lusha was surprised at the beauty, but that’s not the part that should surprise you, you know!
“Wait, did you say it grows?”
“That’s right. It’s a rare thing, and rarely appears on the market. We don’t mine it, either.”
“Wo~w…”
It would be fun if I could make weapons and armor that grow with the user, like in video games. I wanted it, but it was rare and too hard to get, so I gave up. It wasn’t really necessary now, so we could put it on hold. Instead, we needed to think about how we’d move within the dungeon.
“I’ll act as the vanguard and walk in front. Tito-sama and Lusha will attack the monsters from behind.”
“Alright.”
“Yes, leave it to me.”
At the same time, I told them not to do unreasonable things, and to consult me immediately if there was a problem. Don’t overdo it would be today’s motto.
“Why, what about me?”
“You’re at the very back. If a monster comes from behind, take it down. If something happens to Tito-sama, you have to protect him… I think that’s all.”
“Very well.”
As the Shop Fairy nodded, our leveling began.
Walking through the first floor, a Demon Slime came out. I was a little worried about what kind of monsters would appear in this basement dungeon, so I was honestly quite relieved. If this was the case, instead of being helped by Lusha, the Demon King alone might be able to defeat it. The Demon Slime attacked me in a daze, so there was nothing to worry about.
As its attack missed, I told Tito-sama to attack it. “O-okay, but… you really can avoid all its attacks.”
Using his staff, the Demon King fired his magic at the Demon Slime.
“[Water]!”
He quickly defeated the Demon Slime, and put a hand on his chest in relief.
“I am glad my magic didn’t go out of control. Are you alright?”
“Yeah. If it’s your water-type magic, it shouldn’t be a problem.”
On the other hand, if he uses fire type magic, which is his strong point, it’s more likely that his magic power could run wild.
“I am now level two!”
“Well then, let’s keep taking out monsters at this pace.”
Since it was only the first floor, the number of monsters was low. When any Demon Slimes appeared, the Demon King defeated them immediately. He wasn’t really in a rush to level up, so the first floor would be enough for today.
As the Demon King reached level 3, a slightly unusual Demon Slime appeared.
“Whoa, what’s that… a Demon Slime?”
“That is… a Big Demon Slime.”
It was the Demon King who answered my question.
“There are various theories on their origin, such as the coalescence of multiple Demon Slimes, or growth from a completely different monster, but… it has not yet been truly identified.”
“I see…”
“In the end, it’s still a slime, right? But if no one bothers researching it, it doesn’t seem like it’s a problem.”
I went over to the Big Demon Slime and baited it to attack me. It missed, so it didn’t seem to be a problem, after all.
“Alright, [Water]!”
The Demon King’s magic skills hit the Big Demon Slime, but it took more than one blow to kill it.
“[Water].”
“Alright, you beat it.”
The Demon King killed it in two shots. That’s pretty good.
“I am now level five.”
“This is a pretty good pace. Should we go back now?”
I was thinking we didn’t have to overdo it on the first day, so I suggested we go back, but the Demon King quietly looked dejected for some reason. Did he by any chance want to level up even more? When I looked at the Shop Fairy for a hint, she just smiled bitterly.
The Demon King seemed to have his own reasons. However, they might be a bit hard to say. It’s probably not good to push the issue. While I was thinking about what we should do, Lusha asked, “Should we advance even more?” showing her frivolous character. Immediately, the Demon King looked happy.
“I want to go deeper into this dungeon!”
“O-oh…”
Apparently, he wanted to keep going.
