Chapter 22 – The true charm of the evasion healer

We came to the dungeon to raise our level after being seen off by the smiling Cruz-san. It’s the monster house dungeon that Lusha and I have been going through, connecting the city to the outside.

“Alright, let’s do our best!”

”Lusha, let’s learn some new skill first.”

“Oh, right.”

As soon as we enter the dungeon’s entrance, we use the skill acquisition books before we proceed.

You have acquired [Area Heal] skill.

“Oh, a range support skill, huh?”

“I’ve learned [Light Arrow].”

“Light attribute, huh? It seems to be good with the monsters of this continent with a lot of demon-types.”

This is going to make our hunting a whole lot easier.

“Does Hiroki’s skill mean he can heal more than one person?”

“I guess so. Well, it’s not a skill I’ll use that often, but if I had it, it would be nice to use it just in case.”

Maybe the best thing to do would be to heal another party with intersection support.

“Now that we have learned new skills, we… huh?”

“What’s wrong?”

“No, I was just wondering how this dungeon works. We went in from the city side, but it’s like we came to the first floor.”

It seems that no matter which entrance you enter, you will come out on the first floor. And then I felt like something attempted to hit me, but of course, it all missed.

“Demon slime, huh? For now, let’s go a little further and take them down.”

The demon slime is still trying to attack me.

I walk out as usual, taking the bouncy demon slimes with me. The number will grow to five, six, ten, but it’s okay to gather a few more. I’ll let Lusha attack after I gathered about thirty of them so that she can hit them with a single blow. However, if I collect more than that, I’m not sure if my evasion can handle it.

…A good number of them have come together; of course, they’re all missing.

I stop in my tracks and turn around to look at Lusha behind me. And then I waited! She draws the arrow with a broad smile. I’m sure she’ll use the new skill she just learned.

“Alright, I’ll go! [Light Arrow]!”

The arrows released by Lusha are covered in a spiral of light and fly at twice the normal speed. There seems to be a speed correction involved, and it’s a pretty powerful blow. It also took down the demon slimes, despite it just grazing them, and killed nine of them with a single blow.

“It’s strong!”

“I was surprised, too. Alright, I’ll go again! [Light Arrow]!”

“Hey, hey, if you use it too much, you’ll run out of magic, so be careful.”

“Okay!”

Lusha stuck out her tongue and laughed while saying, “I’ll be careful”. She shoots several more arrows, killing all the demon slimes, and then we proceeded further. Just like last time, we defeated the demon goblins and demon orcs and made it to the boss room. It went by so fast.

“The problem is this boss room, right? There were about a hundred demon skeletons, so we have to be very careful.”

Lusha is clenching her fist, but this time, she won’t be on the scene. Without warning, I opened the door to the boss’s room and stepped inside. Of course, Lusha, who thought she would enter after some kind of operation or signal, was surprised and panicked.

“Hey, Hiroki! Why did you open it all of a sudden?”

“It’s okay, I got this! [Area Heal]!”

“…No way!”

When I used my skill, dozens of demon skeletons rotted away in one fell swoop. It seems that this skill has a healing effect at a point I have designated as the center and at about 10 meters in the direct line. It’s a pretty effective skill against undead types that can be beaten with healing.

Before the demon skeleton’s attack could reach me, I took them down. Well… it may not be a very useful skill if it’s not a boss that can be beaten with a heal skill, but for now, I’m sure it won’t be a problem if I’m doing it actively.

“Hiroki!”

I walk to the center of the boss’s room. Of course, there are a lot of demon skeletons around. They were all coming at me, but as usual, they can’t hit me.

I make sure they’re gathered in a five-meter radius of me, and I use the skill.

“[Area Heal]!”

In an instant, the demon skeletons in the boss room had been annihilated. Hey, this ranged heal is good.

“What do you think, Lusha? I took them all down.”

”Amazing, that’s amazing, Hiroki! I can’t believe you’re a healer when you take them down in such an instant! Oh, but you were a Priest, weren’t you? Still, that’s amazing.” said Lusha with a laugh.

“Then, let’s open the treasure chest and go back to the demon king’s castle.”

”Yeah, that’s right. We have to talk to Tito-sama and the others about the future, too.”

“Right. About the ceremony too, I don’t know if we’ll be able to attend… but it’ll be nice to watch.”

So, it’s time for the treasure chest. It’s exciting no matter how many times you open it, and it makes you want to open it more. Lusha placed her hand on the treasure chest and stared at it.

“What’s wrong?”

“I got a little nervous just thinking about what would come out… From what I heard from the shop fairy, it seems that some rare items may come out.”

I see, she was praying for a rare to come out. I really understand that feeling.

In this dungeon, a magic book that the demon king had for generations came out… maybe there’s something pretty good in here, right? I can totally understand the feeling of anticipation.

“I thought it would be nice to get the house that the shop fairy had.”

“I want that too…! Let’s open it up, shall we?”

“Alright, one, two!”

When Lusha and I opened the treasure chest, there were several items inside.

“These marbles are the ones the shop fairy used to throw.”

“That one million Rico item…!”

The fact that there are only three of them in there makes it quite exciting.

“I don’t know about this tiara, but it’s a little embarrassing to equip it.”

”Ah, there’s that for sure. I’ll put this one to sleep in my bag for now…”

”Yeah, I think that’s fine. Lastly, there’s the beard of the earth dragon… this is also an extremely valuable item.”

Lusha picked up the earth dragon’s beard and stared at it. I don’t know what it’s supposed to be used for, but it seems to be pretty good for her.

“What do you use it for?”

“This is the best material to reinforce the bowstring. Of course, it’s pretty strong even if you just use these as strings as they are.”

“That’s nice! If Lusha’s bow is stronger, it’s going to be easier to fight.”

Lusha has always been concerned about her own weakness, so it’s great to see her firepower increase. I’m going to reinforce Lusha’s bow with the earth dragon’s beard.

“Thank you, Hiroki. We could have sold this for money, too.”

“We can use the items we get, right? I’m sure we’ll eventually get the money if we hunt.”

We don’t have to sell it unless we’re really strapped for money. We need to use it more and more and get our gear in order. As for Lusha, she still has a job change to become a Hunter, so I’d like to strengthen her equipment as well as her skills.

“In the meantime, let’s go back to the city and look for a blacksmith.”

“Yeah!”

It would be nice if we could go to the dwarven old man’s shop, but it’s too far away to do so. We made our way through the dungeon and back to the city.
