Kanzen Kaihi Healer no Kiseki - VOL 3 CHAPTER 23
Chapter 23 – Strongest Friends
When we left the dungeon and went to the demon king’s castle, the shop fairy said, “Where have you been~! And rushed towards me. But when she rushed toward me, my body avoided her by itself.
“That’s terrible to avoid me!!!!”
“It was more terrible when you just suddenly jumped like that!”
It wasn’t my intention to avoid her in the first place. It was probably destined to be that way.
“I was in a dungeon. Is there something important to do…?”
“Eeehh… you just got home, and you already went into a dungeon? Are you a masochist?”
“It’s not like that.”
It was the tomboyish Lusha-san who suggested it.
“I mean, Cruz-san knew we were going to the dungeon, but… well, I didn’t ask him to pass on a message.”
“Is that so? You’ll have to tell me when you’re ready to go out properly next time!”
“Alright, alright.”
As we’re chatting about this kind of banter, Lusha looked at us with a laugh.
“Didn’t you have something to do?”
“Oh, you’re right.”
She almost forgot the main topic because I accidentally avoided her.
”It’s time to prepare for the demon king’s announcement. And we’ll be going to the dungeon for a little while to test whether Her Majesty can properly handle the demon king’s magic power.”
“Aah, alright.”
Surely the demon king herself would be worried if she didn’t check properly. And also, even though Lusha has just gone to the dungeon just now, she’s still full of energy and said: “Let’s go!”.
Lusha and I nodded at the shop fairy’s words and headed to the tower, which was the demon king’s own room. When we arrived at the tower, Cruz-san was there with the demon king.
“Hiroki, Lusha!”
“Sorry we’re late―eh, did you cut your hair?”
“No way! Tito-sama was a girl… I’m sorry, I thought you were…” [T/n: So, she decided to reveal it now, why did she deny it when Hiroki talked about it back then?]
It’s okay. I thought she was a boy at first, too. While smiling at the surprised Lusha, the demon king spun around and smiled at her.
She wore a pretty, knee-length dress with a black background. Her hair was arranged just below her shoulders, and the sides were tied with a little ribbon into a twin tail. But the long robe was still intact, and I was a little worried that she might step on the hem of the robe and fall down.
“Don’t worry about it. I’ve been pretending to be a boy all along. That’s why I tried to pretend to be one, though, and why I tried to imitate my father’s tone… but from now on, I think I’ll live as a woman.”
“But, if I’m not mistaken, you said a demon king must be a man, didn’t you? You know the animosity, is that okay?”
Shouldn’t it be better to put more roots in the political side of things like this? I thought about that, but the demon king smiled and assured me that she wasn’t good at that sort of thing. I had a slightly unpleasant feeling, but I nodded that it wasn’t something to interfere with. I don’t know the aristocrats and factions of the demon race, so there’s no point in me saying something like that.
“Oh, right, have you set a date for the announcement?”
“Of course! My announcement will be tomorrow.”
“Eh, that’s early!”
I reply that she’s probably reckless with her schedule, no matter how urgent it is.
“But I think people already know that I’ve changed into this form. I showed it to the maids.”
“I-is that so…”
“Even my grandfather’s faction that said the demon king has to be a man and wouldn’t submit to me unless I ate my sister, at the very least, isn’t that big.”
It’s hard to believe that she was a shut-in gamer, and I’m deeply moved by the fact that it took only a moment to make her change. I was relieved to hear that the rival factions weren’t so big, but I told her that I would help her if anything happened―and we headed back to the dungeon.
◆ ◆ ◆
When she saw the demon slime coming out of the dungeon, the demon king immediately took it down with Fire. Her power hasn’t gone out of control in the slightest, and she’s off to a good start.
“I just want to make sure the Inferno can be used properly.”
“It’s fine… but what happens if you run out of magic and collapse? You have an announcement tomorrow, and it wouldn’t be good if something happened.”
It’s good to be full of motivation, but she should at least get the timing right.
“You just can do that after the announcement ceremony, right?”
“No, I can’t. I have to show my strength at the announcement ceremony… After seeing that, the demon king will be recognized as being strong and, therefore, worthy of being at the top. Well, I guess that’s only the old demon race’s concern, but the younger demon race doesn’t care about it as much.”
”The demon race has a hard time of their own…”
I don’t mean to deny the old traditions and customs, but I would like to see some new ones adopted. Or there will be a lot of people who have painful feelings like the current demon king. Ah, but it’s because she’s such a demon king that she’ll be a good king.
I’m looking forward to the future of the apricot continent that the demon king will build up.
“Then let’s try it out and burn the enemy with the Inferno. Can we take on the goblins on the second level?”
“That’s fine!”
Hearing the Demon King’s reply, we go to the second level.
I walk a little further and gather a few demon goblins. I also don’t forget to go to a slightly larger area and make sure we have the minimum amount of space where the demon king can use her Inferno.
“Good luck, Tito-sama.”
“Thank you, Lusha. I’m the demon king, so I should be able to handle this with ease…”
The demon king glares at the demon goblins, takes a deep breath, and then thrusts her staff at them. And instead of the low voice that she was forced out to use before, a clear and beautiful voice resounds powerfully inside the dungeon.
“This is my power; I will use it properly… [Inferno]!”
The demon goblins screamed in agony after receiving the Inferno. The Inferno that the demon king used was a little less flaming and more controlled than when she used it in the boss room. Apparently, her magic power didn’t seem to have gone out of control. The scorched demon goblins crumbled to ashes on the spot.
“It worked, Tito-sama.”
“Ah… that’s good. Thank you, Hiroki. Now I can properly become the demon king.”
The demon king hugs me tightly around the waist with tears in her eyes. I could tell that she was relieved from the bottom of her heart; I tapped her lightly on the shoulder and called out to her for her efforts.
“Tito-sama will be a splendid demon king, I’m sure. I can assure you of that.”
“Un, thank you. If Hiroki has any enemies, I will burn them down with my Inferno!”
“That’s reassuring.”
I mean, having the demon king as a friend is just too powerful. Since Ren is a hero… the two most powerful people in the world are on my side…! This is so amazing; I can’t help but get excited. No matter how difficult a dungeon is, we’ll be able to tackle it.
“Well then, let’s go back to your room.”
“You’re right, I have to get ready for tomorrow… and after this, I’m going to work on the draft with Cruz.
“That’s tough…”
I wondered if it would really be okay tomorrow…
