Kanzen Kaihi Healer no Kiseki - VOL 3 CHAPTER 24
Chapter 24 – Strategy meeting
The talk about the demon king’s announcement has quickly spread through the city, and today it’s been in a festival since this morning. I’ve been told that the announcement would take place in the evening, so I was wondering if I should go for a leisurely walk at the festival with Lusha… but there was a tremendous banging on my room’s door.
“…It’s still early in the morning, you know?”
I opened the door, wondering who in the world it was, and the demon king jumped in.
“Hiroki, please help me…!”
“Guh.”
I was being tackled splendidly. But more importantly, right now, it’s time to ask the demon king about what happened. Maybe there was some kind of trouble in today’s schedule. [T/n: So, he can’t avoid it, hmm.]
“Calm down, demon king! What’s going on?”
”That’s… the nobles who were in my grandfather’s faction have come up with a representative and are saying that he’s the one that is suitable to become the demon king!”
She had talked so boldly yesterday that she was fine, but now that it happened, she was probably worried. Even though she’s a demon king, she’s cute in a way that’s appropriate for her age, considering that she’s only a thirteen-year-old girl.
Doesn’t she have any friends who can help her plan for this kind of political-related issue?
“Anyway, what’s the situation now?”
“We will have a fight of two against two! Hiroki, please become the vanguard!”
“Eh?”
It’s beyond my imagination.
“Isn’t there a political ploy for that sort of thing? First of all, like a discussion, or deceiving each other, or working behind the scenes…”
“My grandfather’s faction wouldn’t do that! They believe that power is everything; they’re like an extremist group.
“I see.”
However, the demon king said that as long as she wins the battle, they will properly recognize her and serve under her. She says it’s an etiquette to keep one’s word, so it’s okay to trust them.
I understand why, but is it okay for me to be her partner? The demon king has the shop fairy who is her loyal subordinate and Cruz-san, a close friend of the previous demon king. Aren’t they better than me, who had come out of the blue, and am, more importantly, a human?
She must have noticed that I was confused. The demon king lowered her eyebrows apologetically as she told me the reason.
“I was a shut-in for so long, so I don’t have any allies.”
“Ah…”
I’ve figured it out. Well, there’s almost no one who will stand by a shut-in gamer… It was a painful reality.
“What about the shop fairy or Cruz-san?”
“Those two have different jobs to do. Shop fairy has to be on the lookout for people who aren’t happy with me… I think the human king wants to take me down. Cruz will have to deal with the nobles.”
“So, I’m the right person in the right place, huh?”
“That’s what I mean. Aside from those two, Hiroki is the only person I can trust.”
I see. I’m glad if she honestly depends on me, but I’m not sure I can handle it.
“What kind of people are we dealing with here?”
“The man they’re pushing on to be a demon king is a young wizard. The one who will be fighting with him is a hunter.”
“Hunter will be fine, but the wizard is troublesome.”
I can avoid it if it’s an arrow, but I don’t know if I can avoid a magic skill from the wizard. It would be fine if it’s a low-level magic skill used by a magician, but if it’s an advanced skill, it may be impossible. Our firepower will only be the demon king, so if we don’t beat the wizard as fast as we can, we won’t stand a chance.
“Alright, let’s have a strategy meeting.”
“Un!”
The opponent is a wizard and a hunter. Our team will be the demon king and me, a priest. Although it looks like we can win with just the power called the “Demon King,” our opponent must be very skilled at it too.
“I think I can avoid all of the hunter’s attacks. The problem is the wizard’s magic skills. Do you have any idea what he will use?”
“…I don’t know, but I think I can handle that. I have a skill that absorbs the opponent’s magic power.”
Come to think of it; I recall that she said she took in her sister’s magic power. Sure, if that’s the case, we won’t be damaged by magic here, but I think that’s an irregular strength.
“But is it okay if you do that to them?”
“I’m not going to eat it all. So it’s fine.”
“Then that’s fine. First of all, let’s take out the wizard as fast as we can and win. I will use the shield and stand in front of him to draw the hunter’s attacks, so you have to attack them intensely.”
“Understood!”
We got a strategy in place, albeit a rough one, and now we just have to wait for the match.

“Eeehh!? A fight for the throne?”
“Hey, shhh! What if someone hears you?”
“Ah, sorry! But that surprised me.”
We have some time before the game, so Lusha and I came to town to participate in the festival. There are many places to eat, including food stalls, and people are playing instruments and dancing happily in the square. Everyone seems to be rejoicing with the announcement of the demon king. If I listen carefully, I can hear the residents’ voices:
“Yaah, I was worried, but I’m glad that the demon king-sama seems to be coming out.”
“Ever since I was a child, I’ve always been fascinated by the previous demon king. I hope he’s the kind of person that all demons admire.”
“Oh, that’s why you took the knights’ test, huh?”
“That’s right.”
“Is the demon king amazing?”
“Yes. He’s protecting us.”
“He~e… the demon king is amazing, huh?”
I can tell that they’re very much looking forward to seeing the demon king.
“It’s a nice country, isn’t it?”
“Un, that’s right. They’re admiring the demon king. That’s why, I’m sure it makes sense that there are other people who want to be one as well.”
“That’s true, too.”
Respected by the demons and standing at the center of them all. I am sure there are other people besides the demon king who want that. Whether or not they were born to be a demon king. It’s a fate that’s been decided, but if there’s a little bit of hope… I can’t help but understand that feeling.
I’m actually looking for a way and even thinking of resorting to desperate measures to return to Japan.
“But, the opponent is a hunter, huh?”
“Hmm? What’s wrong, Lusha?”
“I just thought I was envious. Someday I will…”
Lusha clenched her fists and expressed her desire to become a superior job.
“We’ve handed over the package to Cruz-san, so our next goal is the temple to switch your job to a hunter. It’s soon, you know, soon.”
“…Un. I’ll do my best to be a hunter and get stronger! Oh yeah, I need to strengthen my bow for that.”
Due to the schedule for the demon king’s announcement being too early, she had to put it off completely.
“We already have material for that. Let’s look for a blacksmith somewhere.”
“It would be nice if there was a skilled craftsman. Oh, let’s ask the adventurer’s guild.”
It would undoubtedly be more trustworthy to have someone introduce us for that rather than to enter without knowing whether it was good or bad. We quickly headed to the adventurer’s guild to ask for information about the blacksmith.
“Oooh, an earth dragon’s beard! That’s a rare item!”
When we went to the blacksmith shop introduced by the adventurer’s guild, the old dog-beastman started to get very excited when he saw the earth dragon’s beard. As expected, Lusha also seemed to be pulling back slightly.
“Uhm, I want to make my bow stronger… how about it?”
“Ah, I’m sorry. I don’t see it very often, so I got excited…”
While laughing, the old man takes a closer look at Lusha’s bow. He stares at it and praises it saying, “This is a good bow”.
“This bow was made very carefully, and it looks like it has great offensive power. Could the blacksmith who made it be a dwarf?”
“Yes, it was a dwarf blacksmith who took care of it.”
The dwarf old man didn’t just provide us with a set of equipment, but also a tent and other travel necessities, so he was quite helpful to us. As I nodded, the beastman old man nodded back, saying, ”I suppose so”.
“Dwarves have a lot of skilled blacksmiths, you know. I can handle the earth dragon’s beard too… but to be honest, it’s a rare item, so I recommend you to ask a more skilled blacksmith for it. I’d love to do it, but I can’t bring out its maximum potential…”
“No way…”
At the old man’s words, Lusha lowered her ears in shock. The adventurer’s guild recommended the blacksmith here, and, unfortunately, it was one of the few shops in this city that can also handle bows.
Since many magic-loving demons live here, there is an overwhelming number of blacksmiths who deal in staves, and conversely, there are few blacksmiths who deal in bows.
Should we just do it here, or should we look for another blacksmith?
But if we have to ask a skilled blacksmith. It would be nice if all of them were as honest as this guy, but I don’t know how good the next blacksmith will be, so I’m worried, but…
“But since we’ll be going to the temple to become a hunter after this… As I thought, we have to compromise―”
“What, you’re going to be a hunter? That’s great!”
Before I could finish expressing my opinion, the old man took a bite out of my word and put his words over it. No, it’s fine.
