Kanzen Kaihi Healer no Kiseki - VOL 3 CHAPTER 6
Chapter 6 – Demon King’s Territory
I decided to use Mana Search, thinking that Lusha, who was taking a small breather, might be in a bad spot. But before that, it would be better to use it on myself first.
“[Mana Search]”
My information quickly appeared.
Hiroki Sakurai
Mana Quantity 1240/1245
“I see; it’s quantified numerically, huh?”
But I can’t really tell the whole story just from this one number. Every time I use the skill, the first value will decrease a little. However, even though I’ve used Heal many times, I can tell this number must also be recovering over time.
“It’s difficult to tell whether it’s a lot or a little… Let’s check Lusha’s, now. [Magic Search].”
Lusha Plum
Mana Quantity 5/105
“…So that’s the difference?”
Roughly estimated, I have about 12 times as much magic power as Lusha. There was also a bonus to my stats when I first came to this world, and I could imagine it was higher than that of a typical person. After all, I could use Heal pretty much forever, and never had to worry about how many times I could use skills.
“Lusha has five mana remaining mana, huh. It’s certainly not a stretch to say she’s run out…”
Until she recovers, I think it would be best to let her sleep. I got out of the tent and took a breather.
This room had a treasure chest and a transfer device, probably leading to the city where the demon king’s castle was. Aside from that, the room was empty, and there was no other way to go. I waited a while for Lusha to wake up.
◆ ◆ ◆ ◆
“――ki―”
“Hmm…?”
“Hiroki, wake up!”
Lusha’s voice startled me awake. I had dozed off by accident, if that wasn’t obvious. Lusha watched me stretch my body thoroughly; apparently her mana had recovered.
Oh yeah, I was imagining what we’d find in the treasure chest and fell asleep.
“Sorry about that, Hiroki. I seem to be fine now.”
“Oh, good. I was actually kind of worried, so I checked your mana.”
“My mana?”
I explained the results of the Mana Search I used on her earlier. Lusha nodded, saying, “I see.” She used her fingers to keep count while thinking about how many times she used Fire Arrow. If she could remember the exact number, she’d be able to adjust her usage to keep from running out of mana.
“I’ve missed a few things, but I think I used skills about 20 times.”
“If that’s true… that means you used about 5 mana for each Fire Arrow, huh? Good, that can be used as a reference.”
“You’re right. I’ll be more careful from now on.”
However, Lusha doesn’t use skills that often, and I don’t think it’s going to be a problem since I have so much mana to help her, but still, I can’t help worrying about it.
After that, Lusha went over to the treasure chest, and called me to it as well.
“Hey, let’s hurry up and open it! I’m sure it’ll have something good!”
“I agree. Let’s open it ― one, two…”
When we opened the treasure chest together, there was a book inside. However, based on its appearance, it’s not a skill book. Some kind of script was written on the cover, though it was impossible for me to read. I wondered what it was, and asked Lusha if she could read it.
“Nope, I can’t read it. It’s not a standard language. Is it a code, or an ancient script…?”
“I have no idea… Maybe we could go to the Adventurer’s Guild and ask them about it.”
“That might work.”
I put the book into my bag and stood up.
It feels like somewhat of a let-down to only get this one book from the treasure chest, especially when we can’t even read it.
I was disappointed, but Lusha didn’t seem to mind and went straight to the transfer device. She sure moved on quickly.
“Hey, Hiroki! Let’s get going.”
“Alright, alright.”
When I got onto the transfer device with Lusha, we ended up in a completely different place from the entrance. I was relieved that there weren’t any unexpected accidents that sent us back to the entrance.
It’s still resembling a cave, but apart from the exit of the transfer device we got on, there were two more things that looked the same. Most likely, this is also connected to the exits of the two other dungeons.
Since there was only one passage, we headed through the exit. Then, in front of our eyes, the sky appeared, with clouds that seemed very close. The air was colder and thinner than in the dungeon.
“Is this place at a high altitude, by any chance?”
“It sure seems that way… Hiroki, look! Flying wyverns!”
“Huh? Is that okay!?”
In the sky, where Lusha pointed her finger, we could see several wyverns. However, the people in the city didn’t seem to be panicking at all, so it must be a familiar sight to them. As one would expect, when you come to the Demon King’s territory, you’ll find things to be a little different.
The city has a castle at the very back, with houses and other buildings underneath, the whole thing surrounded by walls. Clouds spread just outside the area.
When one looked around the city, they’d see glowing lamps and many kinds of magic tools. Perhaps because carriages couldn’t be used due to the altitude, the center of the passage was a river, and small boats were used as an easy means of transportation. There were not only demons, but also elves and beastmen.
“It was hard to get here, but it’s a wonderful city. If we were to climb the outer wall, we’d definitely get a great view!”
“That sounds like a good way to watch the sunrise, too.”
“Yeah, that’s a great idea, too!”
Lusha smiled at my suggestion. Well, we were going to stay for a while, so we’d probably end up oversleeping that opportunity at least once.
“For now, let’s finish our business first ― at the Demon King’s castle.”
“Okay.”
There was a big street in the center of town, and it seemed to go directly to the castle in a straight line. It took time to walk, but there was no concern about getting lost along the way.
After walking for about an hour, we arrived in front of the castle. There was a large castle gate at the entrance, and towering inside was the Keep with a red roof. Next to the gate stood a small door with several knights keeping watch. Apparently, they were also serving as the reception.
“Excuse me. I was asked to deliver a package here for a Mr. Cruz…”
“Oh, for Master Cruz, thank you very much. Unfortunately, he’s absent right now. Do you mind keeping it here?”
“He’s absent…”
Come to think of it, Pino also said that she doesn’t know where her master is. I could just leave the package here, but then I wouldn’t be able to meet him. If I could meet Mr. Cruz, I could probably ask him for help with gaining an audience with the demon king. After all, there’s no way that I, a commoner, would be able to meet the demon king just by saying I want to meet him. Especially since he rarely appears in public.
I indicated I was thinking for a moment, before shaking my head slowly.
“It’s a package I received from his apprentice, so I’d like to give it to him directly if I can. Can I come back at a later date?”
“Of course, but we don’t know when he’ll return…”
“I’ll be staying for a while, so I don’t mind.”
“In that case…”
The knight assented to my proposal without seeming bothered at all.
“If Mr. Cruz comes back, can you contact the Adventurer’s Guild? My name is Hiroki.”
“Okay. I’ll let you know when he returns.”
“Thank you very much.”
That was that, for now. I was relieved. That demon knight is a good person.
