Kanzen Kaihi Healer no Kiseki - VOL 4 CHAPTER 15
Chapter 15 – Incident at the ferry landing
The rides to the lake where the bottom lake dungeon is located were much busier than I expected. It’s not just adventurers, but also families and people who seem to be lovers. Apparently, the lake is a tourist destination, too.
――That said, I’ll take a nap until we arrive.
Since I’m going to conquer the dungeon, I need to get some sleep while I can. I slowly fall asleep while listening to the joyful voices.
I noticed that the carriage that was running monotonously with a clatter has stopped, and so I stretch wide and then yawn. The shaking was so intense that I fell into a shallower sleep than I expected.
At first, I felt a pain in my bottom riding the carriage, but I think I’ve gotten used to it after riding it so many times on the apricot continent.
Now, I need to find the dungeon. After confirming that the other passengers had gotten off, I got off the carriage as well. Then the blue lake was spread out over the scene.
Flowers of all colors bloomed by the lake, and some people were enjoying their picnics around it. It was a very peaceful scene, and it didn’t look like a dungeon.
“Where is the bottom lake dungeon located…?”
“I suppose you were after the dungeon, right?”
“Hmm? Ah, coachman-san.”
When I was wandering around looking for directions, the coachman approached me. From the way I was dressed, he must have figured that I wasn’t a tourist.
I nodded, and he told me where the dungeon was.
“The entrance to the bottom lake dungeon is near the center of the lake so that there’s no chance of tourists entering it by mistake. You see the ferry landing to the right of there, right? From there, they’ll take you on a boat to the small island where the dungeon entrance is located.”
“I see, thank you. I didn’t know that, so that’s very helpful.”
“Don’t mind it! Good luck with your business.”
“Yes!”
After leaving coachman-san, I immediately headed to the ferry landing.
There was a crowd of adventurer-like people at the ferry landing, and I could tell that they were just as after the bottom lake dungeon as I was… but something seems a bit wrong.
There seems to be a dispute.
The one being confronted by the adventurers was the soldier in charge of the ferry landing. Anyway, after listening in, it seems that the adventurers were forbidden to board the boat to the dungeon.
…Isn’t it the soldier’s job to take them in the boat? While I tilted my head in that way, I would be in trouble if it meant I couldn’t go like this.
“I’m sorry. I want to go to the bottom lake dungeon as well, but…”
“Oh, we got another ally on our side!”
“Yeah, tell him, tell him! They usually let us sail right out of the boat, but today we’re banned from the morning!”
Before the soldier could reply, the adventurers were talking to me. And before I could ask them why I couldn’t get the boat out, they treated me as an ally without permission.
No, well, okay…
“Um, for now, in this situation――.”
“We’ve been waiting for you, Sakurai-dono! This morning, we have received orders to allow no one but Sakurai-dono to enter the bottom lake dungeon.”
“Wh-what!”
The reason for the roadblock was me…!
Oh, I see. So that was the case. If there were other people in the dungeon, they might help me to conquer the dungeon. Rather, they were probably concerned about the possibility of me asking people to enter the dungeon as a separate party.
The adventurers, who had been friendly, instantly glared at me. And then immediately asked the soldiers for a reason.
“What’s that all about? Why is this guy the only one who can get into the dungeon?”
“His Majesty, the King, has given us a direct order.”
“What, from the king…?”
The soldier told him clearly, and as expected, even the adventurer flinched. Then he took a step back and looked at me as if he were examining me.
To avoid any confusion, it’s best to clarify things here.
“…The king told me to get an item from the dungeon’s treasure chest, so I’m going to go get it.”
“I see, it’s because of the request, huh… But there’s no need to prohibit other people from entering the area, is there?”
Ah, if it’s a request, it’s not that unusual. Then I might be able to resolve it amicably as it is.
“The condition is that I have to go get it alone. I’m sorry for the inconvenience, but I’ll be back as soon as possible, and I’d appreciate it if you could wait until then.”
“It’s an odd condition, but if that’s what it is, we have no choice. We don’t want to get the country’s attention, either. Right, guys?”
They seemed to be convinced, and the surrounding adventurers also agreed, albeit perhaps reluctantly. As I patted my chest in relief, they were now looking at me from head to toe.
“What is your occupation? This dungeon is pretty challenging, you know. I heard that there are adventurers who have defeated the boss, but there is no detailed data available. Judging by the way you’re dressed, you’re in the vanguard position… and your only weapon is that single knife?”
“Yeah, I’m an Evasion Healer.”
“Evasion Healer?”
All the adventurers, even the soldiers, pondered my words. Damn, I guess evasion is not totally accepted, after all.
“An Evasion Healer is a healer who cannot only recover but also assigns their status value to evasion!”
They wouldn’t even listen to me before, but now they would listen to my words too. So I decided to tell them all about the benefits of evasion healers as best I could.
A healer that can avoid enemy attacks so that the party members can focus more on fighting. They don’t have to worry about the healer getting attacked by monsters.
Since the healer doesn’t get attacked, they can inevitably heal their party members as a priority. The reason for this is that when the healer is attacked, they may heal themselves first, and as a result, the party is in trouble. If they don’t help the vanguard and firepower professions before themselves, this can lead the party to get wiped out.
Then, and then――!
“Ooh, okay, okay, I got it!”
“Eh? But I haven’t even told you half the good stuff yet…”
We’re adventurers, so this is the kind of exchange of ideas we need, right? That’s what I thought, but the man put his hand up and down as if to appease me.
“That’s enough. Sure, I see the benefit of a healer not being attacked by a monster, very well!”
“Really?”
“Yeah. But you see, the problem is that we don’t have any healers in our party, and there aren’t many humans who have the aptitude to be healers.”
“Ah…”
I completely forgot about it. Yes, I’ve heard that human healers are very few in number, and furthermore, there are only a few Priests in the world.
Do I have to start by increasing the number of healers first, rather than promoting evasion healers? This is going to be a tougher road than I imagined…
“If only we could get more healers…”
I mumbled to myself, and he replied, “You can’t do that”.
“You’re born with an aptitude for your occupation. Or it is determined as you grow up. It’s impossible to increase it now.”
“So that’s it, huh! But the more healers, the better. It’s reassuring to have one in your party, isn’t it?”
“Yeah.”
I hope to find a way to change jobs someday. With a small sigh, I looked up and locked eyes with the bewildered soldier.
“Oh, yeah, I should go to the bottom lake dungeon.”
I was so excited about the story that I was neglecting it. The soldier looked heartily relieved and immediately began to prepare the boat. It was a small rowing boat, and the capacity of the boat would be about four people at most.
“Wait, you mean, a healer is going to the dungeon by himself? Impossible.”
“It’s not impossible. I can avoid all the monsters’ attacks.”
Then I grinned at them.
