Kanzen Kaihi Healer no Kiseki - VOL 4 CHAPTER 21
Chapter 21 – Lucia’s Confession
A few hours after we started eating, we talked, and before we realized it, it was late in the evening. All of us were full, and now we were in the middle of enjoying our drinks and chatting.
…Lucía, she hasn’t come back.
As I thought, shall I get her? But I don’t know where she went. I think about that as I look at everyone who seems to be enjoying themselves.
“I’m having a great time chatting with you all. It gets a little too heated, and my body gets hot.”
“We don’t usually get this excited. Are you okay? Lucia.”
“Yes. But I think I’m going to go outside for a little while to get some air.”
Lucia-sama stood up and looked at me.
“Would you like to join me, Hiroki-sama? Maybe it’s about time that Lusha-sama comes back.”
“Oh, yes. Then I’ll join you as an escort as well.”
It was somewhat embarrassing to say that I would pick her up, so I decided to take Lucia-sama up on her offer. Maybe she was just looking out for me.
Ren and Ruri seem to have been told by Ishmer about the stories related to the Knights and the combat professions based on the stories about the city just now.
…I’ll ask Ren or Ruri to tell me what they’re talking about later.
“Well then, I’ll be off for a bit.”
“Yeah. Make sure you bring Lusha back with you.”
“Yes.”
I waved my hand and left the restaurant with Lucia-sama.
As the restaurant is a favorite of royalty and nobles, this restaurant has a spacious courtyard. There is a single large tree with brightly colored lamps hanging from it, which looks like an illumination. As I was looking at it, Lucia-sama called me over.
“Hiroki-sama, let’s sit on that bench for a bit to rest.”
“Yeah, all right.”
I sat down on the bench next to the flower bed and took a breath. It’s strange because when I look up at the sky, it’s full of stars, and that’s all it takes to make me believe that this is indeed a different world. In the area where I lived, it could have been nice to look up at the sky and see a few small stars like this.
“…What kind of world was the world you were from, Hiroki-sama?”
“My world? Not that unusual. If there’s one major difference between this world and ours, it is the civilization and the races.”
“Civilization and race? Are there more races in your world, Hiroki-sama?”
Lucia-sama looked at me with a twinkle in her eye, asking me to tell her.
“No, no, that’s not it. There are only humans in our world.”
“Eh, really?”
“Yes. Oh, and also, there were no monsters or skills or anything like that. So it was pure fun to come to this world and be able to use magic and stuff like that.”
After all, it was something I used to enjoy in games and manga, and now it’s a reality. What am I going to do if I don’t get excited about it, I think to myself. Come to think of it, my phone has completely run out of power, and I can’t use it anymore. The games I used to play every day, I can’t seem to want to play them at all.
…I’m sure it’s because I enjoy being with Lusha and the others.
“There was no magic in Hiroki-sama’s world?”
“But instead, there was something called science. In this world, a substitute for a magic tool would be easier to understand.”
“A world without magic is unimaginable to my tiny mind. It seems like an inconvenience, but thanks to that science, you can live comfortably… isn’t it?”
“Yes.”
I’d be in trouble if she asked me to explain more about it, so I laughed so she wouldn’t go into more detail.
“But there are hard things in both worlds. Yet we can also build good relationships this way. I think that’s a common and good point. Like this is how I was able to make a connection with Lucia-sama.”
“――Hmm!”
“Lucia-sama?”
The moment I said the words, Lucia-sama gasped. She lowered her eyebrows and, for some reason, didn’t look at me, letting her gaze wander. Could it be that I unconsciously said something rude to her? I was worried and tried to look at her again, but my eyes met with the red-cheeked Lucia-sama.
At close range, Lucia-sama’s lips were somewhat trembling.
“I like you, Hiroki-sama.”
“――Eh?”
The words that came out of that little mouth were something that had never been relevant to my life before.
“At first, I thought you were just a friend of Ruri-sama’s, but when you saved me from the monster, my heartbeat very fast.”
At the words, Lucia-sama quietly told me, my heart was beating louder and louder in my chest. Because I didn’t think I didn’t believe that she would confess to me. I don’t know how to respond in a situation like this.
“Oh, I don’t need a response. When I looked at Hiroki-sama, I can… understand.”
“Yeah, I understand… Eh?”
“…I just wanted to tell you how I feel. If you could keep remembering me as a person in the corner of your mind for a long time to come… that would be all the more reason for me to be satisfied. I don’t ask for anything more than that, and I don’t have the courage to do so.”
This is the first time in my life I’ve ever received a confession, and yet it’s somehow very sad. It’s because of the atmosphere that Lucia-sama exudes, but she has her own reasons for doing so――ah.
That’s right, Lucia-sama is the first prince’s fiancée.
Eh? Wait, her confessing to me is not allowed, right? Oh, so that’s why she didn’t want a reply, she just wanted to tell me how she felt…?
I see I see, I see~~~!
“I’m sorry to have bothered you.”
“No, I’m pleased about the feeling. But I’ve never been involved in these things, so…”
“If that’s the case, I haven’t experienced it either. I’ve been engaged to Serfiore-sama for as long as I can remember.”
“Eh? That was fast!”
The words came out first. I press down on my mouth to say it was a blunder, but it’s too late. Lucia-sama chuckles and looks at me.
“So, I have never been in love with anyone… I was also very jealous of my brother, who had feelings for Ruri-sama. Also, I thought that if Ruri-sama became my brother’s wife, we could become sisters, and I had high hopes for that.”
That’s why she was a little supportive of Ishmer at first. However, she realized that it was more important to put Ruri’s intentions ahead of that.
“Ruri-sama is the first woman who can say no to my brother to that extent. He’s an older brother with a personality like that, but that’s why he’s so popular with the ladies.”
“I’ve been indebted to Ishmer-sama for his help. I found out when I went to the dungeon with him that he is a kind-hearted person. Also, he’s quite a siscon, isn’t he?”
“…Well, there’s no denying that.”
Lucia-sama laughed aloud and said happily, “I was troubled by it, you know,” she said. Then she stood up, turned away from the bench, and looked back at me.
“Well then, I think I’ll step back in.”
“…I understand.”
“I’ve never experienced love before. Hiroki-sama seems to be very pure, so please be very careful with the nobles, okay?”
Or else I will be forced to marry a nobleman’s daughter before I know it, won’t I? ――And.
“Whenever possible, I will try to get out of trouble before I move.”
“Yes. I think that would be a good idea.”
After bidding me a bow, Lucia-sama entered the restaurant. As for me, I was so tense that my body loses its strength all at once.
“What was this development…!”
I acted as calmly as I could, but I wondered if there was anything weird about it…
But love, love, huh? Moreover, she is the daughter of a duke, and her partner is the first prince of this country. In other words, he’s the next king.
The pressure must be immense.
Will I ever find a girlfriend one day? To be honest, I don’t think I have the time to think about that right now because I have to find a way to get back to Japan.
Looking blankly at the night sky, I blink my eyes.
A person I like, huh?
“――Lusha.”
…Hmm? I muttered Lusha’s name that came to mind. Well, it’s true that Lusha is very pretty and that she trusts me as well. But she’s really a tomboyish girl and only thinks of me as a partner, unfortunately. I can see that from her normal behavior.
“Are you calling me? Hiroki.”
“――Huh!”
My body bounced involuntarily when she responded in a surprise manner.
