Killer Instinct - 3 Acquaintance?
*Guess I’ll go home…*
After a few minutes of crying in frustration, Karma decided to go home. As he started to get up, he noticed someone beside him. It was Shirohana. She was unconscious, probably from the blow she received. Karma didn’t want anything to do with the girl, but he felt bad leaving her. So, he carried her on his back and walked home.
It was around 8:00 when Karma got home. He walked to his room and laid Shirohana on his bed and pull the blanket over her. He then went to wash up. After washing up, he returned to his room and pulled out a futon from his closet and laid it on the floor. He plopped down on it.
*I hate this. I hate my other side…*
With that thought, he fell asleep.
The next morning…
Karma awoke to a pleasant smell coming from outside. He got up and scratched his head.
*What’s that smell? It smells like….eggs and bacon?*
Karma exited his room and to his surprise, Shirohana was in the kitchen making something,
“Oh! Good Morning!” Shirohana said when she noticed Karma walking into the kitchen. “Sorry for using your kitchen without asking.”
“That’s fine…but what are you doing?” Karma asked.
“I’m making some breakfast for us, of course,” Shirohana replied, as she plated the eggs and bacon and set them on the table.” Well? How long are you going to stand there for? Let’s eat.”
Karma slowly walked to the table. The smell was irresistible. It has been a long time since he had good looking breakfast. He sat down and took a bite. The flavors spread in his mouth.
“This is delicious!” exclaimed Karma, as he scoffed down more.
“I’m glad,” Shirohana said with a smile. “I only started to cook a few days ago.”
“But… why did you do this?” Karma asked.
“Well, you saved me, didn’t you? Although it was quite disturbing, you still helped me,” replied Shirohana, biting off a piece of bacon. “You also carried me here so I won’t be alone out there. Of course, it’s only natural to repay you.”
“You’re too nice. We only just met,” said Karma. “Back there, I wasn’t myself. If the demon inside me wasn’t satisfied, it would have gone after you.”
“But it didn’t happen,” Shirohana replied. “You were trying to stop it, weren’t you? In that way, you did save me. Come on, let’s finish so we can get to school on time.”
“Ok…” said Karma as he munched on his eggs.
After they were done, Karma and Shirohana left the house and head for school. Then, Karma realizes something. He came out of his house with a girl. A popular one at that. There is definitely going to be gossip.
Sure enough, people were looking at them and whispering.
*Great… I’m the talk of the school now…*
Shirohana was oblivious to the situation and just happily walked to school.
After lunchtime, a lot of people crowded around Shirohana. Karma couldn’t hear what they were talking to Shirohana about, but Shirohana suddenly looked flustered.
“N-no. We aren’t dating. He just saved me from some unpleasant people,” Shirohana said, blushing.
Karma didn’t like the attention. He got up to go to his usual lunch spot after buying something from the school cafeteria. Just as he exited the room, a guy grabbed him by the collar.
“Is it true you walked with Shirohana from your house?!” The guy said.
“Y-yes?” Karma replied.
“I’m grateful you saved her from those fuckers,” said the guy. “But I suggest you not to get all chummy with her. The next time I hear about you being close to her, you’re dead.”
The guy lets go of Karma and walked off. Karma sighed.
*This is why I didn’t want to get involved with her.*
Karma made his way to the cafeteria. He brought a yakisoba bun and walked to the rooftop. The breeze greeted him and he made his way to a bench. He munched on his bun as he looked at the sky.
*I need to learn to control it. I can’t just keep on letting it come out*
The bell rang. Karma got up and walked down the stairs to his class. He threw the plastic in the trash and walked to his seat. After a few hours, the bell rang to signal the end of school. Karma got up and walked out of the classroom.
As he made his way to the entrance, Karma heard a girl’s voice calling him. He turned around and saw Shirohana running towards him. Karma quickly turned and ran out of the school.
“Wait! Karma!” Shirohana said, running.
Karma ignored her and just kept on running. Karma ran down the street, with Shirohana chasing after him.
“Why are you running away?!” Shirohana yelled.
Karma pretended to not hear and kept on running. As he crossed the street, he heard Shirohana fall. He turned around and saw that her ankle was sprained. A car was speeding towards her.
*Dammit!*
Karma ran back carried her in his arms and ran towards the sidewalk. The car zoomed past, almost hitting Karma’s leg.
Karma sighed in relief as both of them were ok.
“T-thanks for saving me again,” Shirohana said, blushing. Karma didn’t know why she was embarrassed. Then he realized he was carrying her bridal style. There were people looking and whispering.
Karma blushed a bright red. Then, he ran to a bench and laid Shirohana down. Then, Karma sat down on the far end of the bench.
“Call someone to pick you up,” Karma said.
“I’ll do that later,” Shirohana said. “Why did you run away from me?”
“You don’t need to know,” Karma said. “Just make your call so we can be on our way.”
Karma turned around to see if Shirohana was making a call. To his surprise, Shirohana was close to his face.
“Did Josh say something to you?” Shirohana said, looking at Karma in the eyes.
“Who?” Karma asked.
“He’s the guy who I saw grab you,” Shirohana replied. “He’s my childhood friend and he’s way too overprotective. I will have a talk with him.”
“It’s fine. You shouldn’t associate with me. I’m a nobody. I also don’t want to get involved with anything.” Karma said
“But you saved me, even though you didn’t want anything to do with me,” Shirohana said.
“It was a natural thing to do,” Karma said. “Anyway, call someone. I’ll be going now.”
Karma stood up and walked away. He turned around and saw someone helping Shirohana in a car. Karma sighed in relief and walked home.
