King Of Sports - 194 Putting On Weigh
“I didn’t see it” Yan Bing replied embarrassed
“Oh, I thought you said you found out, it was me who saved Guan Tong from Weibo”
“Are you sure you’re not feverish?” Tang Yan reached out and touched Yan Bing’s forehead with a joking smile.
Yan Bing didn’t respond for a moment but when she realized Tang Yan’s hand was on her forehead, her face flushed and she took a step back.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” Tang Yan also realized and apologized.
“No, wait, it’s…fine,” Yan Bing said, suddenly looking at Tang Yan. “That girl on your Weibo, who is she?”
“…you mean Hong Luli, how can you not know Hong Luli?”
“Uhhh? Is she your cousin?”
“Ahhh…actually wait, it’s normal you don’t know Hong Luli.” Tang Yan said, remembering the date.
Hong Luli became well known in 2016, but it was only 2011. Plus Yan Bing didn’t pay much attention to swimming.
“Why would I know her?” Yan Bing asked.
“She belongs to the national swimming team.” Tang Yan said with a smile. “The picture was taken like a day ago, I just helped her by reposting it.”
“What?”
“Yeah, the team came over yesterday to mine for a celebration party. You didn’t recognize the background of the photo?” Tang Yan asked.
After hearing this from Tang Yan, Yan Bing suddenly showed a faint joy on his face and then said, “She is really cute, very beautiful.”
“Not as beautiful as you Sister Yan” Tang Yan replied with a smirk.
“If you keep speaking like that I’m gonna have to ask for a ring!” Yan Bing said, rolling her eyes.
“Hahaha, I’m too young for marriage” Tang Yan said with a smile.
“Oh, now you’ve grown up a little, you dare to make fun of me? Hahaha speaking of it, didn’t you promise to marry me back in the day?” Yan Bing stared Tang Yan down provocatively.
“Cough, okay, I confess, I dare not.” Tang Yan surrendered.
This brought out Yan Bing’s smile and the two fell into laughter.
“What are you two talking about? Laughing so loud.” Zhu Xiaoying returned at this time and saw the two of them losing it.
“Nothing much, Guan Tong seems slightly better, we were talking about that.” Tang Yan said with a blushing look.
“Tongtong is better! Great!” Zhu Xiaoying said, looking cheerful.
The three returned to the ward, Tang Yan walked in, only to notice Yan Bing cast him a displeased look.
He shook his head with a bitter smile.
…..
It was already the next day when Tang Yan returned from the hospital.
Guan Tong’s family was from a rural area in Guangxi. It would take them a few days to arrive and because of Guan Tong’s condition after discussing, they didn’t call her home.
Because they weren’t assured with the two girls on vigil, Tang Yan stayed with them overnight in the hospital.
The next morning, he went to reception to settle the bill secretly and after paying the medical bills he headed home.
When he got home, the first news he got was great news.
Though they had left their things at the scene, because the crowd knew it was theirs, there was someone standing them until Zhuang Jiajie went back.
Tang Yan’s self-sacrificing behavior had earned admiration. Seeing him lose his thing after was something no one wanted to see. So people spontaneously took care of their things.
Since he didn’t lose anything, he didn’t have to waste a trip shopping again. So after taking a shower and gathering his things he headed back to Zhejiang with Zhuang Jiajie.
During the following week, he spent most of his time with his parents at home and Zhuang Jiajie dropped in to get him to sign the endorsement contract.
And Zhuang Jiajie showed off what he was capable of. The original contract of ¥16 million for 3 years was negotiated by him to ¥16 million for 2 years.
They agreed a time to shoot the advertisement, signed the contract, and deducted the commision fees after taxes. With that ¥12 million yuan about $1.7 million entered his personal account.
With this, he truly became rich.
Of course, at this time he didn’t have time to think about how to spend the money.
At the end of the week, he headed northbound on the high-speed rail.
Because the AIBA World Boxing Championships were about to start, there wasn’t much time left for him to train.
All the masters of amateur boxing in the world would gather in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. This compared with the National Boxing Championships and even the Asian Games was completely incomparable.
Tang Yan’s boxing level was rare in China and even in Asia, but on the world stage, how he would rank was still unknown.
So for him, the World Boxing Championships were a new challenge.
He would encounter world-class top boxers from all around the world, which would really test his strength.
And after the boxing team reported in, what worried Head Coach Qin Hailong happened again.
When reporting in before the FINA Aquatic World Championships, Tang Yan was 5’7 and weighed 57kg.
Now this time, whilst his height hadn’t changed much, his weight had increased to 63 kg.
Although because of continuous training and competing, his body to fat ratio was among top athletes, but this increase in weight still made Qin Hailong worried.
The weight division in boxing was very strict.
In the professional boxing world, Tang Yan’s 49kg class didn’t have much of a platform at all, for example even if like Zou Shiming he became a title holder for a flyweight belt, the amount he would earn realistically wasn’t actually that much.
The really high earners were the middleweight and heavyweight champions.
But coming with that was increased risk as the force behind each punch increased, Tang Yan had now snuck up once again into a new weight bracket to the light welterweight division. With that he had about half a month to adapt to the change and regain his footing after not boxing for weeks.
What Qin Hailong was most worried about, was that this time Tang Yan wasn’t going to participate in some domestic rookie competition but the real World Championship.
However with Tang Yan’s body fat ratio, it was impossible to lose the weight.
Tang Yan on the other hand had a positive outlook on the situation. Although the powers of Zhang Shun mainly worked for swimming, his improvement in body control was indistinguishable in water and out plus this was only amateur boxing. If this was all it took to take him out the game, he might as well give up going professional now.
So unlike Qin Hailong’s concerns, he was full of expectations for the upcoming World Boxing Championships.
