King Of Sports - 223 Yan Bing 4
The charm of literature lied in that through description, it could make seemingly ordinary things become like abstract paintings, and even become the kind of thing that you couldn’t describe clearly, but feel special emotion for.
Baicao Garden was such a product.
It was one of the most well-known places in Lu Xun’s compound, it was accompanied by all the memories of Lu Xun’s childhood, the large vegetable garden stood proud. As Yan Bing had mentioned, there were a large number of vegetables and radishes about.
Autumn was sowing season and spring was harvest season, so the garden was extremely lush.
Tang Yan couldn’t help laughing when he saw it.
“Wow, you’re too much.”
“Come let’s go take photos. I haven’t been here in ages.” Yan Bing said.
“You want to take photos with the radishes.” Tang Yan said as he took out his phone.
“No, come with me.” Yan Bing said as she walked towards the wall of the vegetable field.
At this moment, Tang Yan noticed that there was a circular gate there, because the outside of the gate was also white like the rest of the wall, he hadn’t noticed before.
After Yan Bing entered the gate, he turned and followed.
Entering through the gate, he looked to the left and couldn’t help but freeze for a while.
There was a small alley, about one meter wide, with white walls on both sides. Because of the passage of time, there was moss on the walls. The stone road on the ground extended to the end of the alley. Above the end of the alley there was a vine rack that criss-crossed.
Yan Bing reached the end of the alley at this time and turned to smile at him.
Yan Bing, at the end of the alley, gave Tang Yan the feeling of softness and beauty.
If you gave her a small oil paper umbrella to match the white walls of the alley, she would look like a model straight out of a tourist brochure.
“We’ll take pictures here.” Yan Bing said as Tang Yan fell into a daze.
Tang Yan recovered, took out his phone and started taking pictures.
Such a scene, such a person, it was so picturesque it was easy to take beautiful photos without her having to pose.
After taking a couple of pictures, Yan Bing came over to look and nodded in satisfaction.
She forced him to go up so she could take a couple pictures of him, before saying: “Let’s go to the souvenir shop so you can get some gifts to take back home.”
After shopping for some memorabilia, they found a nearby diner and got some light food before calling it a day.
Tang Yan had one of the opening games for the swimming championships, so he needed to head back and ensure he got enough rest time.
After helping Yan Bing to a taxi, he got himself a taxi and headed back to the hotel.
When he got into the taxi, the taxi driver actually didn’t seem to recognize him, so he got some peace and quite for the day as the driver just drove towards the hotel without trying to make conversation.
Tang Yan in the backseat took out his phone and began to browse Weibo.
After a while, he ended up on the trending tab and saw a video titled: Tang Yan in Yanxing – Godly Archery.
Realizing what he was in for with the title, he clicked on it and sure enough it was a video of him shooting the bag down from the tree.
And through the constant chatter and exclamations throughout the video, he could guess who had filmed it, Li Xiao. The kid must have secretly recorded him somehow, because he didn’t remember seeing anyone on the bridge with them.
The number of views on the video was still skyrocketing, and the amount of likes and comments was impressive.
He suddenly thought back to the visit to Buckingham Palace, imagine if they had taken photos of that, it would probably have gone crazy viral on Weibo.
Laughing to himself, he looked out the window and clocked that they hadn’t moved for a long time, he looked out and realized they had actually managed to run into a drunk driving/ sobriety checkpoint. They were stuck in the queue as traffic police went around checking the cars.
“I’m sorry, I drank a few sips of beer when I went out. Could you please take another taxi?” The taxi driver suddenly said.
Tang Yan froze.
Drinking and driving, he had actually got in a taxi with a drunk driver.
He couldn’t help but get palpitations.
He was about to lose his cool when he looked forward and saw the taxi drivers apologetic gaze and he realized it wasn’t worthwhile.
He left the car and slammed the door without speaking.
They were further back in the queue, so the taxi just turned around and left. And it actually wasn’t the only car which did so, there were a couple cars as well that turned around together with it, seeing the DUI checkpoint.
Tang Yan was shocked seeing this, he prayed to God that they would run into another checkpoint or get pulled over.
Sighing in disgust and disappointment he simply walked away.
As he approached the DUI checkpoint, he heard a fierce quarrel.
He continued walking to get past the checkpoint, when he saw that to the side of the checkpoint a car had seemingly been stopped for drunk driving.
“Do you know who I am! Do you! Just wait till you find out who I am, I could have you killed with a call!”
With his erratic behavior and arrogant provocation, it was clear the driver was drunk.
“Please cooperate with us, or we will be forced to use force!” A traffic officer replied sharply.
Tang Yan couldn’t resist stopping, to watch the scene.
The car stopped was a BMW, a 7-series, and the driver was a big potbelly fellow, who looked rather wealthy.
There were three traffic police officers around the vehicle, the three looked very young, almost like they had just graduated from the academy or something.
“Cooperate my ass. If you have the ability wait till my people get here and try use force and see what happens.” The drunk driver waved his arms shouting, his attitude still full of arrogance.
Tang Yan smiled and shook his head. Some people were too much when they drank, this guy was gonna be in for a hell of a morning when he woke up hungover and in jail.
He moved to continue on, when he suddenly noticed two vans racing towards the DUI checkpoint.
Because of the queue causing a traffic jam in front, the vans stopped about 10-20 meters back and the van doors opened, a dozen people jumping down from inside and rushing forward.
Tang Yan couldn’t help frowning seeing this.
“Come, make me cooperate with you” The drunk man shook off the traffic policeman and said menacingly.
“Boss” shouted one of the dozen men who came rushing over.
The situation seemed to exceed the expectations of the three traffic officers and one of the other officers further up saw the situation was going awry and immediately took out his intercom to call for backup.
“Grab them!”
As the boss shouted, the dozen hoodlums immediately rushed up.
“What are you doing, this is assault on a police officer.” one of the policemen shouted.
“Assault your mother” One of the guys cried launching out a punch.
The police officers fought back but more and more people rushed in.
Soon, after a short confrontation, all the policemen were not only robbed of their radios, but were being pummeled and beaten.
“Now you’ll learn who I am, with your dog eyes. How dare you stop me and try to check my car,” the gang boss kept clamoring.
At this, all those that had stopped and gathered to watch the commotion seeing this began to retreat. Some of the cars even began to drive around the checkpoint to get away.
They didn’t want any part to do with this, if these guys weren’t afraid of attacking the police then imagine what they would do to them.
But a handful of people actually stayed, only to take out their phones and start recording. Tang Yan heard a couple chattering about whether they would actually kill the officers or not.
Hearing this Tang Yan couldn’t stand to watch anymore.
Without saying anything, he rushed out of the crowd of bystanders and rushed into the chaos by the checkpoint.
“Fight! Beat the sh*t out of them.”
“I want them crippled.”
“The f*cking audacity to stop me! Who the f*ck do they think they are!” The boss shouted still clamoring by his car.
But suddenly there was a burst of exclamation from the crowd.
The power of Bruce Lee and Jeet Kune Do, helped Tang Yan thrive in the boxing ring, but in fact, the best field for Jeet Kune Do would have been in proper combat fighting like the UFC.
Judging from the initial response, the traffic policemen were trained, but they couldn’t stand up to such a big pack of hoodlums and the thugs who had attacked them were trying to separate them further into groups.
Tang Yan unbothered though, launched into the group of thugs, swinging and hitting hard.
He set himself and threw a hard, roundhouse right that crashed on the side of one of the thug’s faces.
Then twirled to another and hooked his fist heavily into their stomach, then rocked them with a right and left to the sides of their head. The thug fell back onto a car leaning weakly against it.
Another groan rang out as another thug caught a cutting hook to the face from Tang Yan, first to the right, then to the left.
Tang Yan’s knuckles hammered his lips against his teeth and his whole mouth went numb.
Punch after punch. Kicks flew out.
An elbow into the lower abdomen of one, followed by an uppercut.
A right hook into the belly of one followed by a kick to the knee.
In just a minute, Tang Yan like a martial arts master dismantled the group, one by one.
Tang Yan didn’t even break a sweat, one bit as he rolled out the last one.
Those on the side recording went crazy.
