Kiss Me Not - Chapter 323 Punishment
Chapter 323 Punishment Stunned, Cain parted his lips as he stared at Kimmy in disbelief. She sat on his lap, his arousal skyrocketing with each second that passed. However, he still had to control himself. He still had some questions for Kimmy that he was dying to ask even back when they were still in the hospital. He hadn’t done so earlier since fear would engulf him whenever he would try asking it.
He knew now that he must ask those questions soon.
“If we already did it, then why aren’t we married yet? I feel like I’m someone who won’t do it before marriage. And how come… How come I didn’t give you a ring? You’re my fiance. You should wear a ring. I believe I’m not the type who won’t give a ring to my fiance. Or am I wrong?”
Kimmy rested her arms on his shoulders as she stared at Cain closely. It was a stare that would make one melt in its intensity. As such, Cain felt like he was melting at the moment with the intense glance. He anxiously waited for her reply, and he was getting tense in the process. His heart hammered in his chest as he anxiously waited.
Kimmy let out a long sigh, “You gave me a ring and I have it with me, but I plan to return it to you right now. I’m not wearing it yet.”
“Why?”
The question almost came out as a gasp. His heart continued pounding hard at that moment, and Cain regretted the fact that he even asked about it. Why would Kimmy return the ring to him? Did it mean that she didn’t want to get married to him? Is she planning on running away again?
“It’s a long story… But for now, I will return it to you, and then you can put it on my finger yourself if you decide that I am really the woman you want to be with for the rest of your life, even though you don’t have any memories of me anymore. You can set a period. A time limit, if you want… But I prefer that you won’t and let me stay with you forever, of course.”
‘This is getting so out of hand!’ Cain inwardly retorted. He just made things too complicated because of his fake amnesia. He should set things straight this instant, or else Kimmy might end up hating him for his lie.
‘Should I tell her now that I’m just faking it?’ he mused with a conflicted look towards Kimmy. He was hesitating… and he hated himself for it.
“I’m sorry, Kimberly…” Cain whispered.
Kimmy’s eyes widened as she gasped, “Oh my God! Do you remember that you prefer to call me Kimberly? You’re the only person who calls me by my real name!”
“I do remember, since I never forgot about it at all. I’m sorry Kimmy, I… I…”
“What’s wrong? What’s going on, Cain?” Kimmy worriedly asked.
“I lied. I don’t have selective amnesia. I’m just faking it. I’m sorry, Kimberly. I was so worried when I woke up after the accident. I had this beautiful dream that I was getting married, and then the bride didn’t show up. The trauma seemed to have taken a toll on me. Added by the fact that you’re not wearing the ring yet… I got scared that you would run away again. So I thought I could keep you if I faked on not remembering you. I thought that would make you stay with me, seeing how determined you are to create new memories with me.”
Kimmy didn’t expect that, but she was able to process everything. She never thought that Cain still had insecurities about their relationship. It was her fault. She finally realized all the pain she probably caused him all those years without her knowing. He was someone who loved her way before… and he got hurt by her.
Cain’s head went down as he whispered, “I… I’m really sorry that I did this. I will accept any punishment Kimberly, but please don’t leave me and hate me too much for this.”
Kimmy pulled him close to her chest as she gently stroked his hair. “That’s okay. I understand. But I must admit that I’m pretty mad right now because you lied like that. I was so worried about you and how you forgot about me that I was scared that you might also forget what you really felt about me.”
“You shouldn’t do something like this again, especially to someone who loves you. It’s unbearable and painful whenever I think of how you forgot about me like that… so I’ll definitely punish you for this. But for now, I can’t think of anything yet. I’m mad, but I’m also happy at the same time that you didn’t forget me for real.” Kimmy gently pushed at Cain’s head and looked at him with narrowed eyes.
Cain bit his lower lip and apologetically whispered, “I’m really sorry. Promise I won’t do this again…”
Kimmy released a long frustrated sigh. She was about to get up from Cain’s lap, but the latter held her still. Cain had a pout on his lips as he mumbled, “I thought you reminded me about it…”
Kimmy raised her eyebrows and asked, “I’m sorry… Remind you about what? I totally forgot.”
Cain’s shoulders dropped as he whispered, “Fine, never mind.”
Kimmy chuckled. She pinched Cain’s cheek and scoffed, “Why do you need it when you perfectly couldn’t remember a thing, huh? You go and rest for now and let me decide a suitable punishment for you. I’ll grab my things first in the other room and put them in here.”
“We’ll still share the same room?” Cain asked with eyes shining brightly.
“Yeah, I might torture you for lying to me so don’t celebrate just yet,” Kimmy said with a smirk as she got up and left Cain alone in his room.
Cain had a conflicted expression. He wondered if Kimmy was joking or serious. The word torture sounded worrisome.
“She’s probably just scaring me, right?” Cain murmured.
