Kiss With Mr. CEO - Chapter 140
“Oh, and what if I do get a placement in some big production?” Chen Yi said what was in Shen Yue’s mind. “I assume Manager Shen intel network is not weak. She must already be aware of this whole farce surrounding ‘Dawn of Eternal Bloodlust’.”
“You have already lost; Zhao Hua is to be selected!”
“The official list is yet to be announced.”
“Aren’t you bluffing now?!”
Chen Yi didn’t argue, merely stared at Shen Yue in silence. “Chen Ying won’t let you stay in the company. Especially after learning that the bogus contract allows me to take in jobs without the company’s consent.” That meant if she won the role for the Production, Chen Ying would have no means of stopping Chen Yi.
Chen Yi’s words hit right at Shen Yue’s fears. “What the heck you want?”
“Manager Qin is quite scared of Manager Shen.” Chen Yi said. “I wonder if this has anything to do with an unnamed artiste taken away from Qin Chanpu and placed under Manager Shen?”
How came Chen Yi know about this? How much did she know about this?
Chen Yi didn’t stop at this. She took out the contact card of the Journalist, Xu Jiayi.
Shen Yue was speechless.
Xu Jiayi had been on Qin Chanpu tails for quite some time. If not for this case being associated with Chen Ying, Shen Yue would have long helped Xu Jiayi from the shadows against Qin Chanpu. Once the matter blew up, the company would be the first to abandon Qin Chanpu.
That way their enmity could be settled.
Shen Yue still feigned anger. “Qin Chanpu is Chen Ying person. You have Xu Jiayi contact card, you are planning against your own Manager. Are you not afraid that I would turn you over to Chen Ying? Chen Yi, you better watch your steps.”
“What to do, I’ll leave it to Manager Shen to decide.” Chen Yi smiled. “After all, sooner later that contact would be revealed. At that time, Manager Shen wouldn’t have much of a choice. Chen Ying wouldn’t be so nice to you at that time, would you still defend her at all costs? ”
With those words, Chen Yi bid her farewell, meaningfully leaving the files Qin Chanpu had entrusted her on Shen Yue’s desk. Shen Yue should remember Chen Yi was not going to accept them and like a ticking bomb, the contract was soon going to be discovered.
…
“I heard your cousin got married. Come on, you must know something about your cousin-in-law?” A fashionable socialite surrounded Li Quang along with her friends.
“Tell us, what they say is true? First, we heard the marriage was fake, now after Mrs. Wens ball, rumors go around that President Li acknowledged his wife, even his parents acknowledged her. Is that true?”
“I don’t…” Li Quang stopped himself before saving the end. If they realized he did not know, they would only find more objects to gossip about and ridicule him behind his back.
Just like it has always been.
“Come on, we are here to celebrate our boy’s accomplishments here. Can’t you girls find some other time to gossip?” Although curious himself, Li Quang’s friend threw his arm around his friend, sensing Li Quang’s silence.
The lead girl of the trio looked unhappy. “Come on, we all know that the ‘Li family’ is unapproachable. Today, we agreed to be your guests. Li Quang, you have been avoiding this all along. You have to give us something today.”
“Yes, you have to give us something.”
Li Quang’s face went a bit cold. In the end, it was always for his Uncle’s family. It was always Li Luxian, the only person who represented the Li family. “If you are here just to hear some gossips, by all mean you are free to leave.”
Li Quang’s tone had been particularly cold.
“Hey Li Quang, don’t mind them. Girls are always nosy.” His friend sensed the change of mood and tried to pat Li Quang’s shoulder.
Li Quang slapped away his hand. Glaring at his so-called friend, he said. “Don’t think I don’t know you have the same thing in mind.”
“Li Quang, aren’t you being unreasonable now?” The girl stepped forward, somewhat offensive. “We just wanted to chat a bit. Why are you being so unreasonable?”
Li Quang’s eyes scanned the club, light dancing, people clicking their glasses, chattering loudly. Li Quang could see clear than ever. Every single person belonged to some influential family. Sadly, none of them had come here for him.
Suddenly, the atmosphere felt stuffy.
He wasn’t the one who like altercation.
“I think I need some air.” Li Quang readjusted his jacket, turned around, and left without any explanation.
…
“Young Master, where to?” The driver turned his neck when Li Quang climbed into the rear seats.
“Just drive through the city.” Li Quang put his chin over his wrist as he stared at the dark bleakness of the city.
“Shouldn’t we be heading home?”
“Nah, I don’t want the eldest sister to worry.”
Not again.
His elder sister was the one who arranged this party. She was also somewhat perceptive; if he returned home soon, she would ask around and discover what happened in a matter of seconds.
Since this has happened a lot of times already, personally Li Quang had grown numb to being a shadow of the main Li family household. But his sister and parents were unresigned to that fate. His such encounters would only fuel their anguish.
Anyhow, it was needless to disturb his family over such trivial matters.
A protesting grumble of stomach snapped him out of his reverie.
“This, Young Master, you didn’t have lunch. Should we stop by some restaurant?”
“That’s actually a good idea.” Li Quang looked out of the glass, a familiar restaurant piqued his interest. “Isn’t that the restaurant I used to visit during my childhood? Elder Guang, let’s just stop here.”
“But Madam asked me not to avoid such places.” Li Quang’s mother intended him to visit places that up were to his standard. She emphasized he should develop an influential circle of friends. “There’s a five-star restaurant a few streets away.”
Of course, that was his Mother for him. But Li Quang’s thoughts were different from his Mother’s.
“Mother won’t know unless someone else tells her, would she?” Li Quang beamed at Elder Guang.
Elder Gang sighed in defeat before pulling the car into a reclusive spot to park.
“I’ll be quick.” Li Quang jumped out of the car with a smile.
Five-star restaurant? So that he could once again be surrounded by those disgusting fake socialites who only had his surname ‘Li’ in eyes, not him as a person?
Li Quang would rather enjoy simple delicious dishes at this restaurant than get his head spinning looking at all those fancy names on the menu of those so-called five-star restaurants.
While heading for his favorite spot, Li Quang stopped dead in his tract.
He saw a person he would have never dreamed to meet again.
