Kiss With Mr. CEO - Chapter 143
Li Luxian, having no idea what was going on through his wife’s head noticed her expression didn’t look so well. “What’s wrong with you. Are you feeling unwell?”
“Answer my question first!”
Li Luxian gave her a weird look. Sometimes, this wife of his, he could not understand what was going on through her mind. “Ignore me, hmm. I don’t care at all if someone ignores me. It’s their problem, not mine.”
Chen Yi almost heaved a sigh in relief, almost when the succeeding words knocked the breath out of her lungs.
“But if this is my wife ignoring me, that really hits me hard.”
“H-How hard?”
“Very hard.” He said that with a smile so as not to make his words sound heavy.
But to Chen Yi’s eyes, that smile struck completely different. It just so happened the time Li Luxian said his part, the car passed by a street light. The light illuminated half of his face, casting a shadow on the other half.
At that point, Li Luxian truly resemble a devil who had come down from the heavens to claim inncocent lives. And the smile on top of that felt quite unnatural and creepy.
If it was a normal situation, Chen Yi would only have been swept off her feet at how handsome her husband looked. But it just so happened to be her memory of that serial killer movie was freshened, her perceptions were heightened And she reacted badly to any such stimulus.
“W-Where are you taking me?” Shrinking back in her chair, Chen Yi stuttered.
“We are almost there.” With a sharp jerk, the car descended into a muddy path in the wilderness.
Chen Yi was almost thrown onto Li Luxian’s lap. Placing her hand over his seat’s head at the last moment, she avoided getting her head hitting his.
“President Li, your driving skills need some improvement.” She glared at him. While face still close, not pulling back to make him realize how they were going to collide if not for Chen Yi’s timely interception.
“Who said it was not on purpose.” Li Luxian’s lips quirked up.
Chen Yi put a distance between them, receding to silently glaring at him instead.
…
“We are here.” Li Luxian finally announced.
Chen Yi had almost dozed off. She straightened and stretched her body. Yawning, it took a moment before her sleepy eyes to adjust. But when they did, she froze.
Currently, the car was parked before a beautiful lake. Decorated with lights at its corner, the water was clean and pure. Colorful fish swam about. A twisting path led to a gazebo in the middle, decorated with lights.
It was truly a scene out of those digitally created romantic scenes from the movie.
This whole place was definitely not natural.
Chen Yi could not calculate how much had been spent to create a masterpiece like this. Close to nature, surrounded by freshness and greenery while all the same maintaining as aesthetic look.
There was a small wooden cottage not far away, probably installed here so the guests could stay a night.
“Like it?” Li Luxian was, quite pleased with Chen Yi’s look of awe, couldn’t help grinning from ear to ear. Killing the engine, he asked before opening the door to get out.
Despite deciding prior that no matter what godly place Li Luxian took her, she was going to act all unimpressed and indifferent, Chen Yi’s head nodded on its own accord as she mumbled out a quiet, “It’s beautiful.”
Chen Yi stepped out of the car when Li Luxian opened the door for her.
“When I was young, my father would often take me to this place. We would spend weekends here.” Li Luxian supplied her with information as he guided her to the twisting wooden dock that led to the gazebo.
“This place is also like that necklace, a family heirloom.” Chen Yi shivered. The lake seemed to have cooled the environment. And Chen Yi had not dressed adequately. She brushed her arms to warm herself, saying. “You seem to have a lot of such heirlooms.”
“Trust me, there are only a few.” Li Luxian noticed she was uncomfortable. Taking his upper coat in a sweep, he draped it over Chen Yi’s shoulders. “It’s just you who had the privilege to see two of them in a row.”
Enveloped with sudden warmth, Chen Yi felt grateful.
She still had it in her mind to keep her distance and not to easily accept his kindness but… it was really cold, alright!
If she returned the garment, Li Luxian would only taunt her saying she was returning it because didn’t want him to be cold. That would imply she cared for him.
Acting like a cold-hearted selfish person who didn’t care if Li Luxiann was cold to not, Chen Yi rightfully claimed the coat over her, not even saying thanks.
Li Luxian, who observed Chen Yi’s transitioning from relief to complicated expression which was soon replaced by an arrogant face that was not going to thank him, couldn’t help but chuckle at her silliness.
“Huh, why is there a table set here and wine too? Is there anyone here?” Chen Yi eager to reach the gazebo broke her steps from Li Luxian. Skipping excitedly, she reached the center before him, confused at finding a dining arrangement.
“I had someone arrange it. Don’t look around, they have already left after making the preparation.” Li Luxian approached from behind, smiling. “We are alone here; no one will disturb us.”
Chen Yi turned around. Looking at Li Luxian, her heart skipped a beat.
Alone.
No one will distrub them.
No, no! That was not a good thing.
That was scary.
Suddenly feeling self-conscious, Chen Yi didn’t know what to do. Looking down at her feet, she tugged a strand behind her ear.
The strand must be too silky because that a second later, it again slipped out and hung freely.
Li Luxian’s lips twitched. He could not endure it any longer. His hand acted on its own as his fingers tucked the strand back in, properly securing it in its place.
When the cold fingers touched her unusually warm face, Chen Yi almost jumped. Melting away the awkwardness with a cough, she happily said. “The dishes are getting cold. We should not waste away your people’s good efforts.” And she ran away, taking the seat, picking up the utensils, and engaging in dinner without waiting for Li Luxian.
Li Luxian: “….”
