Kiss With Mr. CEO - Chapter 162
“Jian Shen, you are really something. Before you, I was on pins and needles. All those third-rated lawyers said this and that, stalling the case, not giving me clear answers. But you resolved the case in one swoop. I’m truly impressed!” After listening to Lawyer Jian report on how this case was going to be settled and Su Xiuying would be stripped of her right to refile, Qin Chanpu was beside himself with happiness. He raised his hand and patted Jian Shen shoulder but who knew why, Jian Shen evaded his touch.
“Since I was asked by CEO Fu to assist you, I would doubt do my best.” Jian Shen tone was very formal.
But that didn’t hamper Qin Chanpu. “This won’t do. Shen Ge, let me treat you to dinner tonight. You were of such great help, I don’t know how to repay.”
No matter how hard Qin Chanpu tried to curry favour, Jian Shen couldn’t melt this ice. He almost felt that this Jian Shen was somewhat… disgusted of him.
“Manager Qin, if you want to repay me then please don’t waste any more of my time.” Jian Shen came out straightforward before grabbing his files and making his way inside.
Qin Chanpu smile dropped for a moment before his expression returned to happiness. No matter if he managed to strike a relationship with Jian Shen, this matter of Su Xiuying went down perfectly. His eyes flashed as he thought over how he was going to force that girl for being cocky before him.
It was unclear how much time had passed but when Jian Shen came back, his expression didn’t look. “Manager Qin, did you contact Su Xiuying behind my back?”
Qin Chanpu picked up on the change of mood. “No, I listened to Lawyer Jian advice and stayed away from her. Why, did something happen?”
Jian Shen sighed before inviting him inside. “It appears your means to threaten her were ineffective. She came for today’s hearing. I’ve managed to stall the decision till the next hearing but matters are not looking good. You’ll have to appear before the judge.”
Qin Chanpu paled in fright.
…
What went inside was worse than expected. Not only did Su Xiuying come, but she also came prepared. Equipped with all the evidence, there was little left of the case. The Judge instructed Qin Chanpu side to submit their answer till the next hearing. After that, the decision would be finalized.
From his tone and attitude, it was apparent he had already thought Qin Chapu guilty. He was just waiting for the official procedure to complete and sentence him to years behind the bars.
How the situation had reversed in a matter of seconds, Qin Chanpu was still finding it hard to digest.
But he needed to act. And he needed to act fast.
He followed Su Xiuying and stopped her.
“What do you think you are doing?” Eyes set ablaze with anger, he threatened. “Do you really want me to go around and make your name public? Have you thought through what will happen after that?”
Su Xiuying eyes lacked any fear as she stated back. “Whatever will happen would be better than being blackmailed by your for the rest of my life.”
“You…!” Qin Chanpu was at his wits end in panic. “That would be the last of your concerns. Do you think I won’t do anything to you? You should know I have means and I have straightened dozens like you in the past.”
These words invoked a thread of uncertainty from Su Xiuying. But as she recalled something, her eyes hardened once. “Come at me, I am not done with being afraid of you.”
At the open challenge, Qin Chanpu was dumbstruck.
…
“He would have already set his people to motion.” Chen Yi sipped onto tea as she said.
“Then what shall we do now? I did as you said.” The evidence was collected, refined via her help and submitted on her directions. If it wasn’t for Chen Yi, the case couldn’t have been turned upside down so smoothly.
“Next… We contact Xu Jiayi.”
Su Xiuying had seen Xu Jiayi before but at that time she didn’t know who he was. She had spotted him a couple of times outside the court when she had gone there to attend the first few hearings. Since the court forbade it to make her identity public, Xu Jiayi did not know her and failed to recognize her.
From what Chen Yi told her, he was chasing after Qin Chanpu’s case. That was why he was seen outside loitering around the courtroom. He was for a lookout for the accuser. As he learnt that the accuser was gradually stepping down, Xu Jiayi was even more determined to find out, bring this case to light and protect the nameless person against Qin Chanpu.
It was just what he did, he had something against minor abusers.
“Is this really the right thing to do? I mean he threatened me but nothing has happened until now,” A trace of uncertainty appeared. Involving that journalist meant that the matter would blow out of proportion.
“What is there to be scared of? You told me what your dream was. If you are scared now then how can you even hope to face those insurmountable obstacles on your way up?”
“Yes, I know.” Su Xiuying found Chen Yi words uplifting. “And you are right. I shouldn’t be wavering right now. We better do it quickly before he sets his people to reach me.”
The corner of Chen Yi lips twitched up. “Manager Qin threatened you with outing your name? Well, then he will have a nice time enjoying how with exactly that happening, he would go down in flames.”
…
There were only two days before he had to submit a reply. Lawyer Jian was lawyer Jian. All this while he had been confident to win so he straightforwardly told Qin Chanpu not to worry one bit. But this time, he was also painfully straightforward.
He already told him that the case was a lost cause.
That the only means for Qin Chanpu to evade the miserable fate that rested ahead was to go into hiding.
But how could Qin Chanpu swallow that down?
But before he could even begin to gather his thoughts and think of a comeback, startling news pinned the last nail in his coffin.
