Kneel Before The Villain - Chapter 121

Laughter burst out spontaneously in my perplexing mind.

 

I was so stunned that I couldn’t even speak properly.

 

I covered my face with the fan I was holding.

 

It wasn’t easy to manage my expression when I felt people taking turns glancing at Elvin and me.

 

It was my mistake to accept the gift from the notorious  lord without question.

 

But even if I regretted it, it was already too late.

 

All I could do now was calm the twitching muscles of my face.

 

“Oh my God, the rumors were true…”

 

My face felt as if it would explode at the words someone muttered in amazement.

 

I struggled to manage my expression and tried to regain my composure.

 

Meanwhile, Elvin approached me before I knew it.

 

“Princess.”

 

A pleasant voice flowed out from his slightly parted red lips.

 

While I couldn’t say anything, Elvin took my hand and kissed it briefly before I had time to stop.

 

A moist, soft warm kiss pressed on the back of my thin gloved hand and fell away.

 

I almost dropped the fan I was holding in my hand in panic.

 

Our eyes met and he raised the corner of his mouth.

 

“How have you been?”

 

I laughed at the incredulity.

 

He was so very calm despite the chaos he was creating.

 

But seeing that shameless face, I didn’t even want to get angry.

 

“Did you mean to say that you don’t care about the way others look at you, or their opinions, and just yours that are matters?”

 

“It seems that the princess has become more beautiful in the time I haven’t seen her. That dress fits you better than I thought.”

 

As if he didn’t hear what I said, he said something entirely different and let go of my hand.

 

“Young master, can we talk for a moment?”

 

He obediently nodded his head and followed me.

 

However, even after we left the banquet hall, people’s eyes did not fall.

 

Everywhere we went, people looked at us with astonishment.

 

Every time I took a step, I had to make a lot of effort to keep my composure through the burdensome gazes.

 

After entering the garden and walking in search of a quiet place with no people, I entered a familiar path before I knew it.

 

I happened to arrive at the place where I first met Elvin when I first came into this world.

Until now, I couldn’t figure out why, but when I saw the man in front of me, I could roughly guess why.

 

Elvin’s gaze at me became complicated for an instant.

 

He soon sighed heavily.

 

“Is not such an approach too damaging to the Princess to attempt to defame herself in order to avoid a marriage?”

 

Contrary to his voice of disappointment, his eyes were finely curved as he continued his words.

 

“Seeing how you start by interrogating me without saying hello, it seems that the princess has become very cold in the blink of an eye.”

 

Elvin said in a sad voice.

Elvin reappeared after a long absence, but still looked playful and healthy like before.

 

His face, which boasted of imposing beauty, was polished and did not look like that of a person who had suffered.

 

His lively appearance did not look like someone who hadn’t slept for weeks like he said.

 

Besides, he was condescending after returning so late.

 

Still, it was true that I was glad to see him at the banquet hall earlier after a long time.

 

“Has anything happened in the meantime?”

 

“There was nothing special.”

 

“Did the young master find the person you were looking for?”

 

“Yes, I found it. I had taken a risk and traveled far, but I did not come back empty-handed.”

 

Elvin said with a nonchalant face.

 

But his gaze contained bitterness.

Just as I was about to start walking back, Elvin suddenly grabbed my arm and pulled me into a hug.

 

My nose hit his hard chest and the faint scent of perfume that I had felt from him filled my nostrils.

 

Just as I was about to get angry at his sudden action, something fell behind me with a heavy thump.

His arms wrapped around me tightly made it difficult to move.

 

I was barely able to move through the narrow gap and looked up to see Elvin staring up at the terrace with a cold face.

 

There was a deep chill in his bright red eyes.

 

My whole body was tingling with the vicious aura he exuded.

 

I was breathless at the sight of a figure I had never shown before.

 

“Young master?”

 

When our eyes met, his pupils that were emitting a hideous light softened.

 

Seeing Elvin return to his normal form, only then did my  tension ease and I was able to breathe.

 

I took advantage of the moment when his arms loosened slightly to slip out of his tight embrace.

 

Then, when I looked behind me where the sound had come from earlier, a broken flower pot had fallen and broken where I had been standing a while ago.

 

Looking at the shattered debris and the scattered dirt that Elvin’s actions made sense. (*saving a beautiful woman by pulling her into a hug….…swoon)

“Are you okay?”

 

Elvin asked me with a worried expression.

 

Unlike usual, his face was serious.

 

There was not even the slightest bit of playfulness to be found.

 

The eyes that had radiated cold chills a moment ago were now warm again.

 

When I met that gaze, strangely, my heart skipped a beat.

 

It was a very strange sensation I often felt when facing him.

 

I barely managed to hide my expression and asked.

 

“Is it a coincidence?”

 

“Well, you won’t know until you investigate. But it’s a bit odd for a coincidence.”

 

“Did you see who was up there?”

 

Elvin shook his head.

 

“I didn’t see anyone.”

 

“But I have a guess.”

 

“Is that so? I, too, have someone on my mind.”

 

At that moment I saw a red stain on his sleeve.

 

“Are you hurt? Let me see.”

 

“Princess?”

 

When I looked up, Elvin was looking at me with surprised eyes.

 

When I  came to my senses, I found that I was holding his arm and trying to roll up his sleeve with the other hand.

 

“I’m sorry. I was a little surprised.”

 

After apologizing, I let go of his arm and took a step back.

 

“I didn’t know the princess was so caring.”

 

Despite his teasing, I couldn’t take my eyes off his sleeve. Judging by the vivid crimson color, he must have been injured some time ago. When the flowerpot fell from above, I was able to avoid anger because of him.

Elvin was covering me and got injured because of it.

 

‘Did he get cut from the broken shards?’

 

As I recalled the situation from a while ago and thought that he had been hurt instead of me, my heart felt very heavy.

 

“Young master, can you roll up your sleeve for a moment?”

 

“It’s nothing, no need to worry.”

 

“Whether it’s a big deal or not is for the doctor to decide. You’d better see a doctor.”

 

“It’s really fine.”

 

Just in time, the clouds dissipated and the moon hiding behind appeared.

 

The blue moonlight illuminated his beautiful face.

I looked at Elvin’s sleeve again.

“I wasn’t hurt because of the flower pot. Plus, I’ve already treated it.”

 

A bandage was seen around his wrist.

 

As he tried to pull down sleeve again, I could see the bandage running further above his arm.

 

If he didn’t get cut by the shards, it meant that the wound opened while he was saving me.

 

I had no idea how serious it must have been when he was injured.

 

“Excuse me for a moment.”

 

I stopped Elvin from lowering his sleeve again, then slightly raised it up before he continued.

 

The sight soon revealed left me speechless.

 

A big white bandage was wrapped around his strong, muscular arm. Bloodstains spread over the wrapped bandage was horrifying.
