Kneel Before The Villain - Chapter 122
Looking at the bandage stained with blood and malfunctioned, my eyes tensed immediately.
Perhaps Elvin was used to having injuries, this seemed no big deal to him.
Even though I knew he wasn’t hurt because of me, I was worried nonetheless.
It felt like my hands and feet were getting cold.
“I’m not seriously injured, so you don’t have to look like that.”
Elvin said with a rare look of bewilderment.
He may have said it to reassure me, but it lacked any credibility due to the appearances he showed before.
“I have eyes too. It bleeds so much just from the open wound….Let’s go to the lounge first. Young master needs a doctor.”
He hesitated a little, then nodded his head.

We entered the building, found the nearest lounge, opened the door, and entered.
Fortunately, no one was inside.
“Wait here for a minute.”
Since I had left Joan at the banquet hall earlier, I was going to call the doctor myself, but Elvin grabbed my wrist before I could.
When I looked at him in wonder, he said,
“You can ask a servant to bring the doctor. So just stay by my side until he comes.”
“Then wait a moment. Even if I ask someone to do it, I’ll have to go out anyway.”
Elvin nodded.
Even though he dropped my hand, his eyes did not leave mine.
“I’ll be right back.”
After I finished talking, the air in the room felt very hot.
Fortunately, the air in the hallway was cool when I stepped out of the room.
I grabbed a passing servant and ordered him to call a doctor because there was an injured person and returned to the lounge.
Elvin was still where I left him.
I struggled to suppress my discomfort and sat back down again.
“What happened to the wound on your arm?”
With my brow furrowed, I looked at Elvin with a suspicious gaze, and he said with a nonchalant expression.
“There was a small accident on the way back.”
“I don’t think it was a small accident.”
I replied brusquely, then looked away at the flames flickering in the fireplace in front of me.
The news of Elvin that Noah conveyed was just trivial.
He just reported how long roughly it took for Elvin to get back to the capital, and his work was almost complete, and so on.
I was curious, but he didn’t seem keen to talk, so I didn’t want to ask.
But somehow it became like I was interrogating him.
I didn’t mean to, but I wasn’t satisfied with all he reported and I wanted to know more.
Compared to what Elvin knew about me, I knew very little about him.
He did something unruly today, so I wondered if I could ask this much.
“I met a group of bandits on the way. At the time, there were only a few escorts around, so we had no choice but to struggle.”
I gasped as I looked at Elvin in surprise.
I had never met bandits, but I had heard of them.
They attacked people in groups, extorted money, kidnap, and murder casually.
If he was attacked by such people and even got injured, just being alive would be considered a miracle.
“You managed to come back alive.”
When I said this in genuine surprise, Elvin smiled playfully.
It was surprising and fascinating to see him look so unconcerned even after going through such a thing.
But he must have been surprised and afraid.
I felt sorry for him when I imagined that.
“Where exactly did you get hurt?”
“Just a small cut on my arm.”
“It didn’t look like a small cut to me.”
“It’s nothing to worry about. But it’s nice that the princess cares about me like this. Had I known you would care so much, I would’ve told you sooner.”
When I raised my head at his playful words, he was so close to my face.
Looking at his beautiful face and listening to his sweet whisper, I suddenly remembered that the Crown prince once compared him to a fox.
Most of the words the Crown prince had said so far were nothing more than nonsense, but experiencing it first hand, it seemed he wasn’t wrong.
“Seeing the young master is still very charming, I guess you’re really fine.”
“It upsets me that my sincerity is dismissed as a trick of charm.”
The more I looked at his shameless face, the less pity I felt.
Then, someone knocked on the door outside.
“Princess, I brought the royal doctor as you ordered.”
“Come in.”
The door opened and two figures came in at my permission.
When they saw Elvin with me, they were taken aback, then greeted politely.
The servant left right after and the doctor came into the room with his medical bag.
“Which of you two is hurt?”
“Here.”
Elvin rolled up his sleeve as he answered.
The doctor drew in a breath with a surprised face, just like when I first saw his wound.
“How did this happen?”
He hurriedly approached and opened the bag.
“Don’t ask something useless. Just treat it.”
“I apologize.”
He might be offended by Elvin’s rude attitude, but the doctor seemed to be used to it because his face was strangely calm.
The palace doctor carefully removed the bandage.
He brought a clean cloth to the wound and carefully wiped the blood away, revealing the damaged flesh.
Even at first glance, the long, straight cut looked deep.
“Oh my…. .”
The courtier sighed.
He examined the wound closely and said with a serious expression.
“The wound looks new and deeper than you think. I’ll disinfect it first and it’ll sting, then I’ll apply medicine.”
Elvin nodded his head with a nonchalant face, and the palace doctor took out a small vial from his bag.
Then he sprinkled it over the wound.
Perhaps it really did sting, Elvin slightly furrowed his brow.
Soon after, the doctor took another medicine bottle from his bag and spread it thinly over the wound with a stick.
And after wrapping it with a clean bandage, the treatment was over.
“Luckily, the muscles and bones don’t seem to be damaged, but if you left it as it was, it would definitely leave a big scar. I’ll give you some medicine, so please use it. And for the time being, do not use your right arm, as the wound may open again.”
“I will.”
“Then I’ll be on my way.”
The doctor closed the bag and stood up.
I tried to get up to see him off, but Elvin once again grabbed my wrist.
When I looked at him, he had the face of a child who didn’t want his candy taken away.
“Don’t go anywhere, stay with me.”
Almost as soon as he finished speaking, I heard the sound of something falling on the floor.
When I turned around, the palace doctor stood with his mouth wide open and his bag had dropped to the floor, and things had fallen out.
The surprised doctor hurriedly closed his mouth when his eyes met mine.
He raised the corners of his mouth awkwardly.
“You don’t have to get up. I guess I interpreted you. I really need to get going.”
Listening to the palace doctor’s words, I knew he had a serious misunderstanding, but he ran out of the room before I had a chance to explain.
I got up to follow him right away, but Elvin was still holding my wrist.
I tried to shake it off, but his injured arm weakened my heart.
Looking at the bandage wrapped around his upper arm to wrist, I sat down again and withdrew my hand from his hand.
“Can I ask a question?”
“Is there anything that the young master doesn’t know about? You can always find out about most things through your organization.”
“It is true I have a competent team, but they are not omnipotent. Sometimes there are questions that cannot be answered by research. Besides, this is something that only the princess can answer.”
Only I could answer?
I couldn’t even guess what it was.
After a moment of hesitation, I decided to accept.
“I wonder what it is. Let’s hear it.”
It was true that I had received a lot of help from him, and if it was a difficult question, I didn’t have to answer it.
After a moment of hesitation, Elvin opened his mouth with difficulty.
“Why did you refuse to marry the second Prince?”
I was taken aback for a moment because I didn’t know he would ask about this.
However, there was no reason to hide it anyway, so I just answered the truth.
“I have no intention of entering the imperial palace.”
“Is that so?”
Elvin smiled softly.
“Then I’m relieved. Indeed, the second Prince is a member of the imperial family no matter his origin.”
I didn’t know what he meant when he said he was relieved, but I couldn’t ask anymore.
I felt kind of strange.
I sat like that with Elvin for a while longer, then I returned to the Duke’s residence in his carriage.
I immediately went up to my room, called Annie to help me change, then lay down in bed after washing my face. As I was lying there, I retracted the events that happened today.
Especially when I almost got hit on the head by a falling flowerpot…
I completely forgot about it because Elvin was with me the entire time there, but now alone in the spacious room, the fear came flooding back.
I thought I was okay, but I guess it wasn’t.
My hands and feet were cold even though the air in the room was warm from the crackling fireplace.
I almost died today.
It was not yet clear if it was an accident or not, but I couldn’t get rid of the feeling that someone had deliberately dropped the pot.
I could have guessed who it was.
Lady Flynn or young master Pline.
In particular, Lady Flynn had an argument with me right before the incident and was quite upset.
But I didn’t want to think that she could have gone that far.
Young master Pline lacked motivation.
Even though he was infatuated with Claire, I wouldn’t think he would willingly kill for love.
I had talked to him a few times, and I didn’t think he was a person with great courage.
The more I thought about it, the more I felt like I was in a labyrinth.
I couldn’t make a quick conclusion until there was accurate evidence or witnesses.
The next day, due to the aftermath of the previous day, I woke up later than usual.
When I opened my eyes, the sun was already up in the middle of the sky, and it was around noon according to the clock.
After sitting in front of the dressing table and tying up my hair loosely, the maids came into the room with water for washing.
“My lady, where were you yesterday? I was worried that you suddenly disappeared.”
Joan had a tired face as if she hadn’t gotten much sleep.
Dark shade under her eyes and exhaustion filled her voice.
“I was really surprised when I heard that you came back home in the young master of Croix’s carriage. When did you two become so close? I know you two are acquaintances, but did something happen in the imperial palace yesterday…?”
No matter how tired she was, it didn’t seem like her mouth was tired.
Watching her talk non-stop, I instructed.
“Buy an ointment for scarring and supplements for wound healing. Don’t spare any money and get the best one.”
