Knyghts And Magickes - Chapter 9
Adrien has finally hit 15 years old, the world’s age of majority, and to celebrate, his parents threw him a party. they would usually have private celebrations every year but this one was different as some people actually came by, having been invited by raven
there was Dave, the retired adventurer turned trader, a somewhat aged woman dressed purple robes and a tall witch’s hat named Agnes, and handsome fellow with blond hair and blue eyes, named Artus
he did not miss the man’s similar description and matching name with the empress’ consort
the party had calmed though Michael had to stop his wife from bringing out the alcohol, and now they were asking Adrien various questions. now they were all sitting at a long table with finished plates and glasses of bubbly, fizzy, fruit drinks that Adrien calls a ‘Soda’
Adrien himself also changed, now standing at a height of 190 cm or just under 6″3 and weighing just the same in kilos due to his body’s modifications. he is also now wearing a sleek velvet blue blue modern suit with gold plated buttons and a jet black vest, he wore pants a darker shade of blue, held up by dark red suspenders and a red leather belt with a clockwork belt buckle that actually functions as a clock, and dark red leather shoes with gold plated straps on top, all of it made by him through magic processing, and his own skills. he now resembled his father with sharp features that would turn any girl’s head, and his hair is now longer, reaching just past his shoulder blades and held in low ponytail.
“So, Adrien.” began Agnes “What are your plans from now on? With what your mother has told me it seems as though you can do just about anything.”
“I’m quite curious myself as well.” supplied Artus
“Well, I’m thinking to just continue making better guns and enchantments, and maybe new inventions.” was Adrien’s answer
“Ahh. The infamous )Guns(. quite the fierce weapons you have. Nobodies been able to duplicate it too.” said Dave. and that may have to do with the inscribed enchantment that transmutes the components to puzzle pieces when someone decides to take it apart
“Truly? Why not try to enter the various academies on the empire?” continued Agnes
“Well, they don’t really sound exciting and don’t sound like they would be much challenge.” explained Adrien as he took a sip of his grape soda
“Then, why don’t you try )Haven(?” suggested Artus, causing Adrien’s brow to shoot up in surprise
)Haven( is an elite academy situated just outside the capital of )Arcadia( and boast the reputation of being the most elite academy in the continent. it has been educating nobles, royals, and heroes. it also had a reputation for dropping said nobles and royals if they didn’t meet their standards. it is the difficult and rigorous academy in the empire and only takes the best of the best
‘This may be a parallel my old university.’ Adrien thought ‘Sounds just like it and even had the name )Haven( University. this may be the worlds equivalent’
“You saying you could get me in?” questioned the birthday boy
“I could put in a good word for you, provided that you show sufficient ability of course.” was Artus’ reply
*Hmmm* Adrien quickly finished his glass before putting it down
“Sure.” Adrien shrugged “We could do it now.”
-Demonic Plains, 20 seconds later-
on the vast expanse of green and occasional patch of blue or red in the plains, a circular ring of sparkling mana and complex magic arrays appeared and grew to accommodate those who walked through
these were Adrien, and following after him his mother, Dave, Agnes, and Artus, who were looking on in wonder at the portal they just walked through, his father opted to stay back to clean their dishes
they walked out into the field as Adrien let the portal disappear
“My word, what was that?” exclaimed Agnes
“SO, we’re here to test my stuff, what should we start with?”
“What about some magic?” his mother suggested “Yeah, show us your most powerful spell!”
“Alright.”
he then stretched his arms forward before gathering his mana, an array of magic circles formed, looking like a flower, where the center was red, signifying fire magics, and the petals were green, signifying wind magics
immediately the array glowed and spun rapidly as a flame grew and became more intense in his palms. this elicited cries of “WHaT?” “Chantless? HOW!” from his audience
before long the ‘petals’ started to close in on the flame while swirling a whirlwind around it, feeding the flame. this caused to glow brighter and burn hotter, becoming lighter and lighter until it became a swirling blue fireball
he then caused the central array to explode forwards, launching the fireball and the wind arrays forwards, as the winds kept the fireballs structure but with nothing holding them together, it grew larger as it traveled
when it made contact with the ground, the wind arrays shattered, making the fireball engulf all around it in a massive pillar of blue, swirling flames
when it stopped all that was left was a crater of molten rocks
“How was that?” questioned Adrien as he turned around
what he saw was the hilarious sight of the two grown men and one woman gaping with their jaws hanging, dumbfounded at the sheer destruction they saw brought forth with such casual calm and whim, while his mother was just exasperated, as if she knew this may happen
“Well… That was certainly impressive.” commented Artus when he finally collected himself
“I’ll say…” was all Dave could say
“So… You think i could get in?”
“You most certainly will.”answered Agnes “I officially invite you to my )Haven( Academy, I hope to see you there
…!
“Wait, What!”
