Lady Boss Please Spoil Your Husband - Chapter 328
Lillie and Ethan waited. Twenty seconds has passed and Gong Hei continued to sit comfortably on his chair without any indication of astonishment in his features.
Was that it? Had he just accepted Ethan’s statement instantly? Usually, that would’ve garnered quite the reaction.
Gong Hei noticed he was being stared at. He looked at the couple in front of him, confused. “What?” He asked dumbly.
“Ah, nothing.” Ethan shook his head, dismissing his expectation of his former comrade’s bewilderment. “As I was saying, it was Lillie who retrieved the doc.u.ment personally. She got them from the impostor’s mansion.”
“Eh? The Lady Boss?” Gong Hei interjected, scratching his head. “I thought it was White Bird who got them back?”
“Hei, have you been listening carefully?” Ethan’s eyebrows knitted together. His former comrade could be slow to register information at times, but not this bad.
“This is a serious discussion, boss. I’m quite offended that you would assume I was drifting off.”
“He must’ve hit his head too hard.” Lillie tilted her body sideway towards Ethan, softly muttering. “You might’ve gone a bit overboard.”
Ethan lowered his head and brought his ear closer to his wife’s lips to indicate he was paying attention. He hummed, his index finger resting right under his nose. “I’ve thought as much.”
Straightening up, he sent Gong Hei an apologetic look. “I’m sorry for being too rough, good friend. Would you like to have your head checked up before we continue?” Ethan asked, genuine worry lacing his voice.
Gong Hei’s eye twitched, slightly vexed by this couple’s behavior towards him. “I can feel the sincerity of your concern, but why do I suddenly feel offended—”
Something was amiss
“Wha—…what?” His brain started processing data, telling him he failed to take note of a very vital detail.
While he was busy burning his brains out, Ethan refilled Lillie’s teacup and brought the snacks in front of her. “These are good.”
“Indeed. I believe Grand Disciple Gong made them.”
“En, I recognize the taste. He used to bring us the snacks he made when we all hang out to play video games.”
“Oh, I recall he made chocolates for me every Valentines day in the past. Those were delicious too. I wonder if he’ll give me the recipe if I asked?”
“You neither need his recipe nor chocolates. I’ll make you better ones.”
“Your wife is White Bird?!” Loud shriek interrupted the couple’s casual discussion.
“Boss, how could you cheat on Shengming—aw!” Gong Hei clutched his throbbing forehead after Ethan flicked a cookie at him like slingshot.
He looked at him tearfully and whimpered, “Boss, why’d you hit me?”
“Because you’re an idiot.” Ethan bluntly said as he nonchalantly chew on another cookie.
He didn’t got a chance to try the ones Grandmaster Wei made because Death—the greedy b*stard—took and ate all of them.
Unwillingly, he admits that these snacks were pretty good. Nostalgia hit him at every bite, missing the good ol’ days of his youth with his brothers in all but blood.
However! Ethan will not lose to Gong Hei’s snacks! If his wife compliments it, then he’s an enemy.
“B-b-but—but…” Gong Hei stammered, pointing his finger at the indifferent Lillie as if he’d seen a ghost. “She’s—Shengming—Lillie Bai—White Bird?”
Who else is she?! What more is this woman hiding?!
“Grand Disciple Gong Hei, formerly known in the Underworld as Drunk Python. As one of the Commanders in Vermillion Dragon Organization, we request your assistance in reclaiming what is rightfully yours and your comrades.” Lillie stared directly in the eyes of the frozen man.
Amber orbs chilled, gleaming dangerously like a predator’s behind the writhing shadows in the middle of the forest.
The pitch of her real voice returned. The gentleness it contained, the one Gong Hei loves and was so used of hearing, was gone; in exchanged for a cold and aloof tone.
Gong Hei realized that he’s no longer looking at the sweet, gentle, and demure woman he had come to know and fancy.
Shengming’s gone. She’s been replaced by who the society regard to as the She-Devil.
Astonishing. Truly astonishing. He didn’t had a single clue that Shengming wasn’t who she seem to be.
His boss was pretty good too. But Shengming—or Lillie Bai—takes the cake in acting. He bets all of his money that she’ll be an A-lister with just one film she stars in.
The disguise both of them wore were a great help in building up their character. It was impeccable. What are those fake face made out of? They look so real…hm.
“Consequently, that means you’ll have to return with us.” Ethan added to Lillie’s statement. “What do you say, Hei? Wanna join us in showing the Underworld who’re the real dragons?”
Hmm, go back to the world where danger lurks at every corner, can beat the sh*t out of horrible people, or stay here where his skills couldn’t be put in good use, no cellphones or gadgets allowed, could only watch TV once in a week, and no wifi?
The answer was pretty obvious.
Grinning mischievously, Gong Hei firmly replied, “Count me in, boss!”
