Lady Boss Please Spoil Your Husband - Chapter 368
“Sir, please calm down. The hospital’s security and staffs are doing their best.” The head of security tried to appease the personification of a time bomb, but gravely failed.
No one but his wife can calm this devil.
“How could she be not here when her car is?” Ethan’s nervousness was converted into anger. “Where is the surveillance footage? Show it to me now, or else I will bring this hospital down into ruins!”
“We’re already looking into it, sir.” The head of security’s ability to keep his composure despite being under pressure is commendable. Very few people could face Ethan’s intimidating aura directly.
Though, internally, the head of security is nearing his limits, and is ready to pass out of sheer fright from the killing intent Ethan was leaking out.
The head of security was unaware that it was actually Ethan Li who he’s dealing with. Ethan was fortunately rational enough to cover his identity to not evoke public attention—most particularly people with ill intentions.
When Ai found Lillie’s location, Ethan’s heart nearly leaped out of his mouth.
His pessimistic self couldn’t stop the raging tides of images that plagues his mind about the dreadful possibilities that might happen to Lillie and their unborn child.
She’s in the hospital, he learned. Due to his anxiety, he could only think of negative, possible answers on why she’s here.
Did something happened to her and their baby? Did someone took her there in secret? To what? To hurt her and their baby?!
“Sir, here’s the surveillance footage that happened just an hour ago.”
The head of security politely—and cautiously—beckoned him towards the computer monitor. They’re inside the hospital’s security room. “This is the car that matched your description of your wife’s car.”
He pointed at the car in the surveillance footage coming to a stop by the hospital’s entrance. No one came out for a few seconds, and when someone finally did, it was a woman with black hair and in casual clothes.
Ethan perked at the sight.
“Ah, I recognize her.” A security guard that was stationed at the entrance prompted. “But she’s not your wife, isn’t she, sir? She doesn’t fit the description.”
The woman in the surveillance footage’s face wasn’t properly caught by the surveillance camera’s angle, as if she was intentionally evading it. Additionally, it seems she knows exactly where it was installed.
She frantically ran towards the backseat, opened the door, and pulled out a man. It seemed she was shouting for help when the guards and medical staffs came to her aid.
“That was her brother, I believe. She was in so much panic.”
Ethan was at a loss for words, his brain was having a hard time processing the scene before him.
Who are these people? What are they doing with her car? Where’s his wife?!
Suddenly, the door behind them creaked open. Soft footsteps pattered behind him, approaching him in steady pace. A slender hand grasped his shoulder and gently tugged it, urging him to turn at their direction.
His initial reaction was annoyance. Who dared touch him so casually?
Turning around, his thunderous expression faltered. A bespectacled woman with black hair and brown eyes greeted him with a warm smile.
She was the same woman in the surveillance footage. And since he’s able to look at her now with clarity, his mind clicked.
It’s Lillie!
“You were looking for me, husband?” Lillie’s teasing smile and arched eyebrow instantly took an affect in calming his restless nerves. “I worried you, didn’t I? I’m sorry.” Her soft, cool palms cupped his cheeks.
“Lillie,” He breathed, relief washing over him like the first ray of sun after a raging storm. “Where were you?”
Lillie didn’t replied yet. She tilted her head sideways to glance over Ethan’s shoulder. Behind him were their quiet spectators—the head of securities, and a few of his subordinates.
“I apologize for my husband’s inconvenience, officers.” Lillie apologetically expressed. “I’ll take it from here.”
“In the end, it was the missus who found her husband.” The head of security humorously said to lighten the tense atmosphere; thankfully, it did. “We’re glad you’re here now, ma’am. Your husband was worried sick.”
“I can tell.” Lillie lightly giggled. “I’m sorry, he can be so dramatic sometimes. I hope he didn’t scared everyone too much.”
“Not at all, ma’am.” The head of security was obviously lying through his teeth with his awkward chuckles.
“Uhm, I thought your wife has ash blonde hair and blue eyes?” One of the guards chimed curiously.
“I actually had my hair done today.” Lillie swiftly lied, flipping her hair to showcase her new look.
Lillie explained that her new job doesn’t allow them to have dyed hair that was as flamboyant as hers. For her eyes, she said she was wearing blue contacts—for vanity reasons—before she left home. She had to take them off in the salon because the hair chemicals irritated her eyes.
Everyone oohed in understanding.
That makes perfect sense.
In his panic earlier, Ethan accidentally described her with her real characteristics. He couldn’t have expect that she would come here with a disguise.
Moreover, how else could he find her?
But as expected of his wife, she could slither her way out of any trouble.
“It seems my husband was too used of me with ash blonde hair that he forgot I’ll be having black hair again soon.” Lillie laughed it off.
No one could sense her lies. Ethan admits that he also would’ve been swayed if he doesn’t know the truth.
The whole ordeal ended with everyone’s mood uplifted by Lillie’s charm and manipulating skills. Before leaving the security room, Lillie made Ethan apologize to the security for causing a ruckus and threatening them.
“Where are we going?” Ethan asked as Lillie pulled him to the elevator instead of the exit.
“I was on my way home an hour ago when I accidentally ran over someone.” Lillie divulged.
“What? Are you alright?” Was Ethan’s immediate reply. “Were you hurt?”
Lillie’s lips twitched upward. “I’m alright, but the person I ran over wasn’t.”
“But that doesn’t explain why you weren’t answering my calls.” Ethan frowned.
“My phone died. I was actually about to call you, but the plan was interrupted when I ran over the guy. I took him here, and I had to wait for the doctor’s results. When I left his room and was about to give you a call again, a guard informed me that the whole hospital was looking for a certain someone’s wife.”
Ethan avoided the look she was giving him.
Wow, those are some coincidental interventions. Fate seemed to had too much fun messing around.
But wait—
“Who’s this guy?” He grumbled, jealousy painting his devilish features. If it wasn’t for him, his wife would’ve been home, safe in his arms, on time.
Pray that he’s in a coma, or else Ethan will personally make sure that he is for nearly making him lose control over his sanity.
“I have the feeling that you might know him.”
