Lady Boss Please Spoil Your Husband - Chapter 410
The four of them descending the stadium earned their block’s attention at first before everyone in the stadium did. The camera caught them and they were displayed on the big screen.
“Ohhh! Four brave contestants? This must be your lucky day, Mochi!”
“One.” Ethan loudly corrected the emcee. “It’s just me.”
Lillie lightly glared over her shoulder and at their unruly siblings.
“We’re just here watch closely and cheer for him!” Gabriel waved his hand, quickly explaining himself to his sister.
“Just you? Sorry to disappoint you, kid. But you won’t be enough to beat me. How about the four of you at once?” Mochi pointed at them. “Come on, grant this old man a favor, will you? I promise I’ll hold back like what I did with Monk Boy.”
He jabbed his thumb behind him, where two medical teams carried the unconscious Faithless Monk on the stretcher and towards the clinic.
“Just me.” Ethan sternly said in determination, stepping inside the ring.
“Aww, come on~” Mochi whɨnėd childishly, dangling his arms left and right. “You guys are a bunch of cowards. You’re no fun.”
“Don’t speak too soon, old man. You don’t know what my brother is capable of.” Yifei warned, her expression void of the usual playfulness.
“Fine.” Mochi drawled and rolled his eyes. “But if I knocked him out in less than five seconds, I’m coming after the three of you.”
Lillie, Gabriel, and Yifei didn’t flinch from his threat.
“You’ll regret that,” Ethan lowly said, his tone etched with ice.
“What?” Mochi turned to him.
“No one threatens my family and leaves unscathed.” This further fueled Ethan’s resolve to make this master of his regret taking him as a student.
“Contestants, are you ready?!”
He’ll make him pay on behalf of his and his Commanders’ younger selves’ suffering under his training, for disappearing suddenly, for almost being the cause of his heart attack when he found out Lillie was in the hospital, for damaging Lillie’s car in an attempt to steal it.
And lastly, for threatening their younger siblings.
He has ‘a lot’ of scores to settle.
“BEGIN!”
***
Disbelief.
Time trickled seemingly slow but 10 minutes had already passed, and the enigma who deny the odds of having a chance of winning against the ruthless champion was still standing and fighting.
What’s more shocking was that he didn’t look like he’s breaking a sweat. After observing the extent of Mochi’s strength, they were expecting to see the brave fool to be lying on his pool of blood after two or three strikes from Mochi’s deadly fists.
“You’re strong.” Mochi acknowledged with a crazed grin after his mysterious opponent dodged yet another deadly blow.
The two contenders have yet to land a punch on one another. Their strengths were on par that they’re canceling each other out.
The festive atmosphere inside the stadium returned after the audience’s astonishment evaporated, turning into zealous roars of awe that shot off right through the dark sky.
Half of the audience was wildly cheering on the dark horse that is Ethan, bets piled the betting pool, and some changed the person they’re betting on.
“I have great teachers,” Ethan indistinctly replied, schooling a blank expression.
After that, he stopped humoring Mochi’s questions and his insinuations to conversate.
Realizing that he wasn’t planning to continue talking and maybe allow him to know more about his opponent, Mochi pouted.
“You’re no fun.” He said sulkily. “Monk Boy’s weak, but at least he’s fun to talk to. That’s why I gave him mercy. Why don’t you amuse me with your prattling, child? Who knows, maybe I’ll consider making your defeat less bloody.”
Ethan’s eye twitched slightly. Thankfully, it went unnoticed by his infuriating glutinous master. If this was in the past when he was but a reckless teen, his master would pester him non-stop about the fact that he managed to get into his nerves.
His hot-temperedness was his undoing as he fell into his trap by throwing a punch in an attempt to shut him up.
Mochi would then beat him up physically and mentally while laughing maniacally.
Lillie, Grandmaster Wei, and even that albino rodent, Death—although he was ‘strongly persuaded’ by his lovely wife—helped him hone the skills he wasn’t aware needs honing.
After his training with them, he noticed the change in his style and the feather-light sensation of his movements.
There’s a vast difference between his former master’s teachings and Grandmaster Wei’s.
Both are ferocious, yet what Mochi lacked as a teacher were patience and techniques. Not all geniuses are good teachers, not all have the skills to impart their knowledge to others.
Ethan would forever complain to Mochi’s spartan training, but he would never be ungrateful.
That was probably the only barrier that prevented him from seriously maiming him.
Also, there’s no mistaking. Drunk Python (Gong Hei) definitely inherited the spartan-teacher trait from Mochi, evidently from what Ethan witnessed back then at the Academy when Gong Hei was training his juniors.
Ethan secretly glanced at Lillie, who gave him a look and an inconspicuous gesture where she taps her finger on her wrist.
‘Time’s almost up’ it translates.
She slightly raised her hand, all fingers stretched out. ‘Five minutes’.
Five minutes left before her men jump in and blood floods the place.
“Averting your attention from your opponent would get you killed. Care to share what got you distracted from preserving your life?”
Ethan jumped back instinctively. The ground where he stood before now crumbled beneath Mochi’s sole, his whole foot sunk right through it.
“You know, if you were my student, the first thing I’ll drill into your mind is a lesson about self-preservation.” Mochi’s eyes glinted with glee.
Glee from what, exactly? Was he reminiscing about the days he spent antagonizing his students?
Most likely.
