Lady Boss Please Spoil Your Husband - Chapter 420
Earlier that same day, Tranquil Villa proceeds to live up to its name while the homeowners went out of town. The ones making this possible diligently hide among the shadows or behind facades, only coming out of their station when threats unceremoniously invite themselves into the estate.
The servants carry on with their usual routine as well. Even without the two masters’ intimidating presence, it doesn’t mean the servants could slack in keeping the villa immaculate. Although the newer servants see themsevelves to be able to breath easily.
When night falls, the servants retire to their quarters after another tiring and tedious day. All but a particular group can’t wait to lie on their soft, warm beds.
After ensuring that everyone was fast asleep, five pairs of sharp eyes fluttered open and expertly slithered out of the bedroom they shared with the other servants.
These five silently ran behind the villa and in the property’s small forest.
Storm’s ears perked and raised his head in alertness at the rustling sound, but relaxed when he saw it was his mistress’ Shadow Guards.
“Good evening, Storm.” The captain of the Shadow Guards greeted him. “Here, we brought you a snack.”
Storm eyed the large piece of raw meat offered to him on a plate. He unhurriedly stood up and gracefully took it with his mouth before returning to his self-assigned post where he guards the entrance of the storehouse.
The forest is where Storm frequents himself when his mistress isn’t home, it was his natural habitat. His lovely mistress even had a man-made cave built just for him a few meters from this storehouse. Since he had nothing else to do, why not assign himself as an extra security for their captives?
Lillie Bai’s precious prisoners lifted their heads when they heard footsteps above their makeshift cell. The hatch door of the storehouse’s hidden basement creaked open, and the room suddenly went bright as someone turned the lights on.
The Four Horsemen winced and squinted as the bright light assaulted their eyes.
A figure walked down the wooden stairs with feather-light steps. It was the captain of Lillie Bai’s Shadow Guards. If they’re not mistaken, she called him Ryder.
Then, without further notice, Ryder ordered, “Take them out.”
The Four Horsemen tensed in alarm, their survival instinct screaming as the other four Shadow Guards surged in behind their captain.
Chains rattled noisily as they attempt to swat the offending hands reaching out to them.
But to no avail. They were easily subdued and their foreheads kissed the floor.
“Stay put if you know what’s good for you.” Ryder looked down on them without much of an emotion.
But they didn’t listen and continued to struggle. Legs pressed heavily on their backs and firm hands on the back of their heads to keep them steady.
Shi can’t see what his detainer was doing behind him, but he could discern the other ones from the corners of his eyes.
Usually, when the warden ordered for the prisoners to be taken out, it means a death sentence. Had Lillie Bai finally found what she was looking for now that she’s discarding them?
“Stop struggling or this will hurt.” Shi’s pupils constricted when he recognize the item they withdraw from the other Shadow Guards’ pockets.
He felt the other hand of his detainer hover his nape as the one holding his head in place pressed harder when he started thrashing even more upon realizing what’s happening.
It was a syringe. What’s in it? Was it lethal poison? Is this how they die?
They’ve spent years slaving themselves to grow stronger, pouring literal blood, sweat, and tears climbing the Underworld’s ladder. Only to end up making a fool of themselves with their carelessness and arrogance.
Is this how everything ends?
Shi wanted to scream his lungs out and cry blood. How could he let this happen? Some leader he was. He’s supposed to make sure his gang was safe and that everything turns out okay.
It’s all over.
They don’t stand a chance.
There’s no way to escape, they shackled their hands and feet to the wall and found every hidden weapon in their person.
Shi bit the inside of his cheek until the metallic taste of blood registered his mind.
“Please, please!” Shi bitterly swallows his pride. He can’t do anything but beg. Not for his life, but for his comrades. “Please spare them! I’m the leader, so take my head instead! I’m responsible for everything!”
His voice cracked as pent-up emotions erupted into sobs.
“Shi, what are you saying?!” Seifuku looked at him in panic.
“Don’t take all the blame, you damn selfless bastard!” Senso bellowed angrily.
“If one of us go down, everyone will! No one is self-sacrificing themselves on my watch!” Kikin vehemently protested.
“What the fuck, you bastards?!” Shi yelled at his comrades as if they’re the ones who’s out of their minds. He then turned to Ryder. “Don’t listen to them! Just take me and get on with it! They’ll promise not to cross Lillie Bai ever again, so please let them go!”
The Shadow Guards subduing them watch the Four Horsemen’s scream their lungs out at each other. Ryder’s expression was blank, but he could feel a headache about to emerge from all the nonsense.
But he let them for a while. Maybe they’ll do their jobs for them and knock themselves out from exhaustion. It saves resources.
However, they seem to have no plan of ceasing anytime soon.
“Enough!”
The Four Horsemen quiets down immediately.
Ryder mentally sighed in relief when the basement returned to its tranquil state.
“You must’ve misunderstood our intention. Well, I don’t blame you. Anyone in your situation would have.”
“We misunderstood? Are you saying you won’t…kill us?” Shi asked, hopeful.
“The boss hadn’t made up her mind.” Ryder briefly replied as he made a gesture at his subordinates.
The Shadow Guards used their distraction as an opportunity.
The Four Horsemen flinched when the needle pricked their necks. After a few seconds, their eyelids suddenly began to feel heavy, accompanied by an occasional urge to yawn.
The Shadow Guards got off their captives’ backs upon noting that the tranquilizer was taking effect.
“Honestly, if you fear for your lives, you should’ve just accepted the boss’ generosity. That would’ve been the wisest thing to do.”
“Our gracious young miss was willing to offer you guys a great deal. It would’ve been a guarantee that your lives would be spared.”
“Alas, no one knows how our boss’ mind works. So your fates are solely up to her mood.”
Each of the Shadow Guards were berating them. They were sighing and shaking their heads in disappointment.
What generosity? You mean being subjugated and having their freedom taken?
You must think that it’s still better than being dead, right? Although they weren’t able to confirm Lillie Bai’s affiliation with the Underworld, if she was a bonafide Demon or just someone with connections, they can’t afford to risk it.
For all they know, death wasn’t actually much of a cruel mistress as the saying goes. Maybe, death is actually better than experiencing hell on earth under Lillie Bai’s control.
No practice hell for them, thank you very much.
They still have a chance to live another day. The longer Lillie Bai ponders their usefulness, the more time they have to devise their escape.
“Whe…where are you taking us then?” Shi asked when the Shadow Guards hauled each of them over their shoulders and carried them out of the basement. His voice sounded tired because of the drug, but aware enough.
They were outside, in the forest. The smell of nature entered his nose and he greedily inhaled it—thinking it’ll probably be the last time he’ll breathe fresh air.
“You’ll be relocated.”
“Where?”
“Somewhere more secured.”
The Four Horsemen didn’t like the sound of that.
“Well, that’s not f*cking reassuring.” Senso blurted groggily.
“Good. I’m not here to provide reassurance.” Ryder turned his back on them. “Now quit talking and sleep.”
“This sh*t’s pretty strong. But it won’t work on me. I won’t let it take over!” Senso exclaimed like a loud drunk ready to pass out—contradicting his words. His detainer grunted in annoyance when he started thrashing again.
“Fighting is futile. The drug is stronger than the ones you’re probably familiar of. Even with your skill level, you stands no chance.” The twin Elders made it after all.
The last thing the Four Horsemen remembered after everything went dark were being shoved inside a van and the sound of the door slamming shut.
If the Four Horsemen learned that their new prison was far scarier and as secured as the Underworld’s Prison, all of their plans to escape would be burned and thrown out of the window.
After all, no one ever manages to get out of the Blazing Purgatory.
