Lady Misfortune: Daddy, I’ll Be A Righteous Villainess! - Chapter 105
Sarah can’t help but regard Lady in confusion – and maybe, a bit of concern.
She isn’t saying anything. She doesn’t even look mad.
She does appear to be bothered and annoyed as Orion and Glenn continue acting like the insensitive jerks they are – but that’s it. She merely keeps quiet the entire time.
Knowing her, she would’ve already had an outburst by then. She doesn’t even hesitate to fight with her, but now that their positions have been switched, she can’t even utter a word to defend herself – or maybe, she just doesn’t want to.
“Don’t think you can act all mighty just because you’re a CEO’s daughter,” Glenn snarled, tone dripping with scorn and repulsion.
“You have to learn how to treat others with respect regardless of their social status, Ms. Mireille,” Orion muttered, cold and steely.
“What makes you think you’re that big of a deal, anyway? You’re no match for Sarah at all. What gives you the right to treat her the way you do? You literally have nothing to be proud of.”
“Her social circle, perhaps? She’s close with the Chairman’s son.”
“Oh, right. Her family name, too. Doesn’t that make her seem like leeching off, then? It’s probably all she’s good at.”
“While having that much influence is an important trait, I think that conduct should always come first.”
Lady is silent through it all.
She has an enigmatic look on her face – eyes slightly narrowed, mouth curved down into a frown. Inside her head, though, she’s already cursing at them. She’s almost at her wits’ end when they begin to involve her friends.
“I honestly feel bad for those underclassmen of ours…” Glenn said condescendingly, raising his arms and putting them behind his head.
“They have to put up with someone as troublesome as her all the time.”
“I heard that all of them have the potential to be the next members of the SES – it’s like the perfect squad of future leaders, you know…” Orion commented, which made Lady slightly perk up.
“That is if they’re not always being associated with a problem student.”
“If they keep that up, they might eventually get a bad record too. You’ll never know when someone might snap. Not to mention, the boys, in particular, are starting to draw concerns.”
“Hmmm… I knew they always seemed strange to me – that other Mireille and the Chairman’s son.”
“Tell me about it. Both hold so much power that they might as well be controlling the academy’s higher-ups. They top all the tests, and they’re as famous as heck. It’s kinda scary, actually.”
“Yet, somehow, there’s still something off about them.”
“Weirdos, I know.”
That does it.
They can mock her all they want – but not Weiss and Fallon. They both are too important for Lady.
And so, she bolted up from her seat and slammed her fists on the table, catching all their attention. Even the others who’re still at the register have turned in her direction. Everyone was taken aback. Now, all eyes are on her.
“You’re not satisfied with just me, so you decided to involve my friends, too…?” Lady hissed with bared teeth, and for once, Sarah felt intimidated.
“How petty, indeed – ganging up on a girl like this then talking shit behind others’ backs.”
Glenn looked offended. Orion scowled, expression hooded.
They were ready to retort, but before they could do so, they stopped at the entrance of their fellow upperclassmen.
“Lady? What’s with you this time?”
At that familiar voice, Lady looks up.
She found herself coming face-to-face with her three cousins, then – aka, the BRATS. Talk about bad timing. While she knew that they’re part of the Student Elite Society, she didn’t expect that they’d be there with them as well. She hoped that they’d just pay her no mind as always. But of course, she’s not that lucky today.
“You’re in public right now, Lady. Behave yourself if you don’t want to bring shame to the family,” Bryce chided.
“What’s this? Why’s she with you?” Art piped in, having just noticed that Sarah was there as well.
“Hey, are you bothering her again? We kept telling you to stop causing troubles to others, didn’t we?” Travis said tauntingly, which earned an unimpressed look from Lady – in reality, they never really cared enough to tell her such a thing.
“Must be mortifying – getting outed by her own cousins,” Glenn whispered with a sneer to Orion.
At least, it looked like he was murmuring. It’s still loud enough for all of them to hear. Maybe it was on purpose. Either way, no one minded it.
Suddenly tensing up from all the attention, Lady tries to hold it together.
She had no idea that her beef with Sarah was so bad that those who’d see them together would instantly think that she was doing something bad to her. Lady had always known that she’d be the one deemed as the bully every time, though.
Then again, Sarah is the very definition of perfection. Lady, on the other hand, has always had the reputation of being a problem student like what Orion said – the black sheep in the family, the misfit in a social circle.
Therefore, it’s only normal that they’ll jump to that kind of conclusion. In addition, all these people look up to Sarah – some even worship the ground she walks on. Like a modern-day saintess, she’s born charming and loveable.
And it’s all because Lady had made Sarah that way.
That’s why she doesn’t hold any sort of ill will. There’s no envy on her part.
At this very moment, however, it had occurred to Lady that none of that had changed the fact that it still hurt – their venomous, contemptuous words.
‘Just look at yourself.’
‘Everything about you pales in comparison to her.’
‘Have you no shame? You spoiled brat.’
‘You look like mere table scraps whenever you stand beside her.’
‘Jealous little bitch. You’re just insecure, aren’t you?’
Their words would always play on repeat in her head – keeping her up all night, shaking her to the core sometimes. She had thought that she’d long been prepared for it. Yet, whenever it happens, she can’t help but be in pain.
Lady is still human, after all.
“Say, Ms. Gracelyn…” Bryce started again, addressing Sarah this time.
“Did she do something to you? You can tell us. We will take care of it.”
The way he spoke to her was so different from how he’d do it with Lady. It was soft, gentle, and kind, which shouldn’t really be a surprise anymore. After all, Sarah is destined to be one of them in the future.
“Yes, she did something…” she replied with a solemn expression as she glanced at Lady who’d gone back to being mute.
“But whatever it was, it’s none of your business.”
And they stilled.
Bryce fell quiet. Orion and Glenn looked puzzled. Art seemed unconvinced, and so was Travis.
Out of them all, however, Lady was the most surprised.
“Oh, I see, I see…” Glenn chimed in, breaking the silence.
“She threatened you to keep your mouth shut, didn’t she?”
Both girls quickly whipped their heads in his direction.
Lady resisted the urge to laugh. Sarah made an incredulous face.
“She did…?” Bryce asked, shooting daggers at Lady.
“Tell us the truth, Ms. Gracelyn. I’ll make sure that Uncle will hear all about it.
“Of course, she did…!” Glenn snorted.
“Won’t be the first time she’d try something like that, anyway. Isn’t that right, Sarah?”
He scooted closer to Sarah and put his arm around her shoulder. She recoiled right then – as though the gesture had caused her extreme discomfort. Lady noticed the whole thing happen. Everyone else was too focused on her that they probably did not see it.
If they did, they just ignored it.
While they all observed how Lady would react to the accusation, she had her entire attention on what Glenn was trying to do at that moment – this cocky jerk had just turned into a cocky asshole. Even though he could see that Sarah was clearly not happy with it, he still continued to lean forward, invading her personal space in the process.
It was at that moment that Lady had decided to eliminate Glenn from the line-up of male leads – him and Orion. She would never let them have another chance to win Sarah over again.
“Take your hand off of her, you bastard!”
Lady snapped, throwing them all in shock.
It doesn’t matter if they’re the highest-ranking student organization in the academy – it doesn’t even matter if they’re humans. She’ll stab them at least a hundred times and put their chopped bodies into a can of meat.
No pervert should be allowed near the heroine.
“H-Hey! W-What are you doing-”
“Move it! Get lost!” Lady hollered angrily, shoving Glenn away from Sarah.
“Lady?!” all three of the BRATS yelled, flabbergasted, as their companion fell on his butt.
Of course, they’d instantly come after her. They didn’t even try to ask what made her push him away. Even if they did, she’s sure they’d still be on his side.
They’re now looking at Lady with horror – all except for one. Sarah appeared to be smirking at the whole thing.
Almost like she finds it funny.
