Lady Misfortune: Daddy, I’ll Be A Righteous Villainess! - Chapter 108
Everyone gasps at Lady’s revelation.
She cries harder, sniveling every now and then. Getting more concerned, they give her tissues, try to soothe her with words, and do just about everything to comfort her. She stoops her head low, face buried in her hands – then, she smirks.
From behind Lady, Weiss and Fallon quietly looks on.
“Just look at this girl, bro. Terrifying, ain’t she?”
“She is getting better in acting, it seems.”
As usual, they only let her be. They got taken aback at first. After all, they thought she got so hurt she’s even ignoring them. They did not catch on what she was planning. Now that they did, though, they decided to just play along with her whims.
“The SES did what to you?”
“How? Why? What happened?”
“Did you get into a fight?”
“Are you sure it was the SES?”
“Can you tell us more?”
Of course, they would still be dubious even though Lady’s acting skills were top-notch. Then again, everybody in the Student Elite Society is well-esteemed and highly respected.
“But hey, these people…” Weiss mused out loud, voice lowered in a whisper so that only Fallon could heard it.
“They look familiar. I think I saw them talking with Lady from time to time.”
“Now that you mentioned it…” Fallon said then trailed off, exchanging a brief glance with Weiss.
“I usually find them cheering Lady on whenever she’s up against Sarah.”
“You mean, they support her?”
“Well, if you look at it this way, isn’t the SES fond of Sarah?”
“Yeah. Most of them, I believe.”
“So, as a result, their fans would side with Lady. You know, like how the saying, ‘be friends with the enemy of your enemy,’ goes? Not to take on a misogynistic stance, but I kinda understand where they’re coming from. Those guys from the SES are putting Sarah on a pedestal, to be honest.”
Weiss offers an enlightened look to Fallon.
Almost every student in Golden Rose Academy has seen how the Student Elite Society treats Sarah like royalty. Not only did she get invited to one of their exclusive social gatherings more than once, but she also received permission to hang out with them in the Castle, which is what they call this massive greenhouse that serves like their clubroom. Weiss and Fallon had been there a couple of times before for a different reason.
Now, there’s really nothing wrong with Sarah – she’s smart, talented, and capable. She did take advantage of their offers at times, but she did not particularly act like she was above everyone else. The problem is, it’s unfair to those who’re earnestly working hard to be part of the Student Elite Society.
“Just what is Lady thinking?” Weiss wondered out loud.
“Lady thinking? That’s rare,” Fallon commented dryly.
Little do they know that Lady’s indeed not thinking at all.
Such thoughts never even crossed her mind. In fact, she had no idea about that issue about the Student Elite Society giving out special treatment. The only thing she was after here was revenge. She wanted to show the world just how much of an ass these people could be.
“I-It’s because… T-They saw me with M-Ms. Gracelyn, and t-they… They immediately thought I-I was doing something b-bad to her… I-In reality, we just happened to be in the same place…” Lady explained, still crying.
“I was m-minding my business, d-doing my homework… S-She was enjoying her large dark chocolate mocha frappe with two shots of hazelnut and extra whipped cream and a plate of fresh, hot cinnamon roll… T-Then, the SES came a-and assumed the w-worst of me.”
She bursts out wailing after that. They all panic.
Weiss and Fallon could not help but make an incredulous expression, wondering just why they did not notice how detailed Lady’s explanation was about Sarah’s order.
“Poor girl. They thought you were treating her badly, huh?” one said in sympathy.
“Sarah again. Always Sarah,” the other gritted through clenched teeth.
“Just what’s so good about her, anyway?” another complained with crossed arms.
It was Lady’s turn to panic this time. She didn’t mean to put the blame on Sarah.
“E-Everyone, as I said, she wasn’t doing anything…” she clarified.
“It was those guys. They just up and confronted me. I tried to defend myself. She also told them to back off. But they won’t listen. It got so bad that it led to this mess.”
Lady gestured at the coffee stain on her skirt. The fog of confusion lifted from their faces, and now, the cloud of suspicion on the SES has risen. Weiss had enough by then. Now that she’s done with whatever she’s trying to achieve there, she can no longer disregard her current state.
“Okay. That’s that…” Weiss piped in, holding Lady by the shoulder.
“You should think about yourself first. Let’s get you home now.”
Before they step a foot out of the coffee shop, their upperclassmen suddenly come up from behind them. They all appear to be flummoxed by the scene that comes into view – a crowd of people with judging, distrustful looks. Clueless as to why they’re receiving such a greeting, they demand an explanation from their three underclassmen who seem to be the center of it all.
But what they get instead is a hostile aura.
Lady flashed a smug, mocking smirk. Fallon glared and scowled. Weiss grinned a dark, scheming grin.
Their heads are fully turned to them so that the students outside could not see the looks on their faces.
“I suggest that you read the school newspaper tomorrow morning,” Weiss quipped before heading out and taking Lady by the hand.
“You messed with one of us? You messed with all of us,” Fallon muttered, leaving right after.
With that, these upperclassmen’s greatest doom was sealed.
—
“Here, I’ve got an extra pair of pants. Use it.”
“Dude, who keeps a pair of pants in the car?”
Weiss just shrugs and smiles at Fallon. Lady takes the pants.
The three of them are in the back seat of the car at the moment.
More particularly, it’s the same shining, shimmering white limousine that Weiss rode on during his first day in school. To this day, Lady and Fallon would tease him about it.
Right now, though, no one is in the mood to fool around.
“It’s most likely too big for you, Lady, but it’s better than staying in that skirt,” Weiss said when he noticed Lady tugging at the waistline of his pants.
She hummed and nodded. Then, she reached for the zipper of her skirt.
As soon as the boys realized what she was about to do, they quickly turned to the opposite direction and looked out the car window.
“Damn it, woman! Will it hurt you to warn us first?!” Fallon cried out.
“Please, stop giving us a heart attack every time,” Weiss begged.
“I trust you, guys. I’m sure you’re not going to look,” Lady giggled.
“Yeah, we won’t. But you’ve still got to tell us beforehand! Geez.”
“So dramatic, cous’. I’m in a hurry to get out of this skirt, okay?”
“You should’ve just skipped that whole explanation earlier, then.”
She fell quiet at the tone that Weiss used. Lady can tell that he’s very displeased – upset, even. It was proven further when Fallon went silent too.
“No, sorry. I don’t mean to say that it’s your fault. If anything, it’s mine,” Weiss corrected, looking all crestfallen.
“Huh? No, it’s not! Don’t say that,” Lady protested.
“I was the one who told you to meet up with me in that café, remember? It’s true that I didn’t see that whole thing coming, but I’m still the reason why you’re there in the first place. You wouldn’t have to gone through all of that if it wasn’t for me, so… I’m really sorry.”
“Stop that! There you go taking the blame again! You’re not in the wrong!”
But he is. He knows he is.
He had dragged Lady in his problem with Sarah without her knowing.
“Okay. What if I say that I feel really, really bad whenever people badmouth you and Fallon for taking my side?” she brought up all of the sudden, causing him to look back at her again.
“Why would you feel bad? You didn’t do anything wrong,” he firmly said with furrowed brows.
“Exactly! The same goes for you!”
“O-Oh.”
The creases in his brows eased back in place, then. Seeing his enlightened expression, a smile tugs at the corners of her lips.
“Pffft! She got you on that one, Weiss…” Fallon laughed.
“For once, I agree with this idiot.”
“I’m not an idiot…!” Lady huffed, slightly offended.
“Someday, I’m going to be wiser than you, Fallon!”
“When we’re over a hundred-year-old, perhaps.”
“Are you saying we’ll still be together by that time?”
“Why not? With that brain of yours, you can’t survive without me.”
“You’re so mean! I don’t need you! Weiss is fine! But not you!”
Weiss clears his throat, catching their attention. Lady and Fallon look at him.
“Ummm… Can we save the banter for later…?” he told them nervously, a light blush dusting his cheeks.
“Lady, you still haven’t put on the pants.”
