Lady Misfortune: Daddy, I’ll Be A Righteous Villainess! - Chapter 125
Weiss and Fallon are befuddled, to say the least.
Lady has gone beast mode. When they got to the top of the stairs, they found her tackling someone twice her size. She has completely apprehended Glenn, muttering one death threat after another while pinning him down on the ground. It’s quite an astonishing sight.
For a moment, both of them are speechless. They’ve always known that she’s stronger than she looks, but this definitely exceeds their expectations.
“S-Stop it! Y-You’re killing m-me! Somebody h-help me!” Glenn cried out desperately as he got strangled by Lady.
“Hey, hey, hey. E-Enough of that,” Fallon piped in hesitantly, pacing closer to them while Weiss followed suit.
Fallon puts his hands under her arms before picking her up with ease – like how one would do it to a toddler that was throwing a tantrum. Even then, Lady would not budge. She continues to throw kicks and punches at Glenn even as she gets pulled away to the corner. Once she’s at a good distance, Weiss drops on one knee beside him.
“You dared get close to them even after all that, huh…?” Weiss began, speaking in a low, dark tone.
“My friend won’t be acting that way if you hadn’t done anything. Even we never saw her like that before, you know? So, what made you stoop this low? Maybe we’d been going too easy on you and your buddies after all.”
“He pushed Sarah off the stairs! That’s what he did…!” Lady bellowed angrily, still raring to beat Glenn up some more.
“Let me at him! I still haven’t taught him a lesson! That boy needs to get spanked at least a thousand times! Release me at once!”
“Calm down, Lady. Geez…” Fallon sighed, looking both tired and perplexed.
“She’ll be alright, okay? Hearty was able to catch her, I guess, and Belle already brought them to the clinic. Let’s get you checked there, too.”
She whisks her head in Fallon’s direction and looks at him with wide eyes. Relief instantly washes over her upon hearing that Sarah is safe – so much so that she immediately begins shedding tears, stunning all of them. He makes a surprised expression at Lady’s outburst before scratching his head in annoyance and kneeling down before her.
“Uwahhh! I’m so glad she’s okay!” she wailed as she wrapped her arms around Fallon’s neck and cried on his shoulder.
“Yeah, yeah. I hope you are too,” he sighed once more while he gently rubbed circles on Lady’s back in an attempt to offer some comfort.
“I’m perfectly fine. No injuries.”
“Doubt that. Get checked first.”
“I’m serious! There’s nothing-”
“Get. Checked. First.”
Weiss gives them a relieved smile before facing Glenn again.
The bastard still has the audacity to keep swearing under his breath – as though he couldn’t believe he just got downed, and by a weak-looking girl no less. He sure knows how to aggravate him despite finding himself in what’s supposed to be a pitiful condition. There’s nothing else that can be done to a douche like him – mere intimidations won’t work.
“I have nothing to say to you anymore, Glenn Valentin…” he snarled at his upperclassman, roughly fisting his collar and locking eye contact with him.
“We’ll take this to my father’s office, but rest assured, it’s not gonna take too long. I already have a befitting punishment in mind.”
Glenn can’t help but blanch and shudder at the portentous glint in Weiss’s hooded eyes.
—
The infirmary is unexpectedly quiet – too quiet.
It’s almost as if nothing of importance has happened. It’s like that incident moments ago is nothing but a dream that Lady has woken up from. She looks to the bed next to her and finds Sarah sleeping soundly. She can’t properly describe just how happy she is to see her unharmed.
“She’s fairly okay. No concussion or anything. She’d been crying a lot, though, so she kinda fell asleep as soon as she got here. We let her be,” was what the school nurse had explained to her upon her arrival.
Belle and Hartigan had been anxious and restless. They had wanted to come after Weiss and Fallon since they were taking too long, but they held themselves back and decided to watch over Sarah in the meantime. Lady had thanked them profusely for doing so.
There was a lot to explain on her part too. Now that lunchtime is long over, though, some of them have to leave. They agreed to just talk about it later instead.
Belle went back to class along with Hartigan, who was, fortunately, doing fine, while Lady stayed with Weiss in the infirmary to look after Sarah. Fallon, on the other hand, dealt with Glenn and reported the matter to Principal Abel.
Everyone has split up for now – but not without promising to have a discussion after class.
“You’re still not saying it, Lady.”
Breaking through the tranquil quietude is Weiss’s voice.
He’s sitting at the side of her bed, which the school nurse thinks she needs after having felt some sort of dizziness at one point. There’s an obscure look hanging on his frowning face, and though his radiant features seem to glow under the warm afternoon light that’s seeping through the window, there’s a gloomy murk hovering over his expression.
He seems displeased about something. She may have a good idea of what it is.
“I noticed it, you know…” Weiss continued.
“On that upperclassman’s hand, there were blonde strands of hair.”
“Ah, t-that’s…” Lady stammered out, recalling Glenn’s assault earlier.
“S-Sorry. I kinda forgot.”
“You forgot? How could you forget something like that, Lady?”
“My mind was all over the place, Weiss. It didn’t hurt that badly, anyway-”
“That’s not the point!”
She flinches at that, completely taken aback. He doesn’t usually lose his cool like this, but it seems he’s already at the edge.
“You’re still hurt, and it’s driving me crazy…” he rasped a tad breathlessly as he held both of her shoulders, a pained expression on his face.
“I’m trying my best to hold myself back. Really, I am. But you have no idea what it feels like to see you in those kinds of situations. I swear I’m gonna go mad at this rate. Worse, you won’t even tell me anything.”
“Weiss, I-I… I-I didn’t…” she tried but was too startled by his confession.
“Listen, I didn’t mean to keep it from you. I-I’m planning to explain everything to you guys, and I’m just sorting out my thoughts right now. Also, the fact that none of us got hurt seriously is enough for me. I-I was just thinking about that, and I wasn’t trying to hide anything from you.”
“What exactly did he do? Tell me.”
“H-Huh?”
Weiss is beyond livid – but not at Lady.
He understands where she’s getting at, and he’ll let her off the hook if only to give her the rest she needs. Taking care of the one who touched her is different, though. He does think of just bringing it up later when everyone else is already there, but he still can’t help but imagine every worst possible scenario that happened earlier.
His hands are itching for a killing, his blood scorching within him.
First, it’s Bryce. Now, it’s Glenn.
Getting a suspension won’t be enough for those asses. At this point, only something as severe as expulsion can suffice.
“Weiss.”
Too absorbed in his vicious thoughts, he didn’t realize that she had reached out a hand towards him. The warm feeling of her hand on his cheek, along with her sweet, soothing voice, were the ones to bring him back to reality.
Weiss exchanges stares with Lady.
Going by the worried crease on her brows, he realizes he must be wearing a strange look on his face. She gives a light stroke on his cheek, and he responds by holding her hand with one of his. From that moment on, they only continue peering into each other’s eyes.
How he wishes he can protect her more properly. It feels like a million stabs in his chest whenever he sees her in pain or in danger – maybe even worse. He hates it with his whole being when other people would so much as insult her.
“He’s got a pretty tight hold of my hair, so maybe when I tried to shove him off, he managed to pull out those strands…” she explained solemnly, gaze cast down.
“No wonder I felt dizzy.”
Weiss’s scowl deepens. But he resists the urge to let his murderous intent leak through his expression. Lady is looking. He doesn’t want to intimidate her in any way.
For now, he’ll have to put that aside. She’s more important.
“Do you need any meds?” he asked her gently as he cupped both sides of her face with his hands.
“I’m good. Sleeping it off will probably do,” she reassured him with a smile, glad that he wasn’t prodding any further.
“Then, rest. I’ll look after you.”
“But what about Sarah?”
“Her too. I’ll watch over both of you.”
“Well… Okay, then. Thank you.”
Lady is expecting she’ll get tucked in bed immediately, but instead, Weiss leans closer to her and presses a soft, tender kiss on her forehead.
