Last Words - Chapter 1 Rebirth
I reach out my arms, but it’s too late to get it. A moment of intense pain and then it’s all gone. Darkness ensures for an eternity. I couldn’t describe it. No color, no noise, no anything. Just pure unfiltered nothingness.
I wake up again in the hands of a little girl. She’s super cute, short blonde hair and blue eyes. But eh, what’s she saying? I quickly figure out something’s not quite right. Why am I in her arms? While I’m asking questions, why am I four footed?
“I’ll pay you 7 gold for the nine-tailed fox.” Who are you talking about? Those things are a myth! I look behind me, but can’t see anything except a cluster of tails. I have a bad feeling about this. I snap at the tails, but as soon as I catch them, I feel a sharp pain. I have a bad feeling about this.
“Dad, she’s so cute! I can’t wait to train her!” Wait-
“Let’s go home, sweetheart!” Um-
“Yeah!” Do I get a say in being trained?
No one seems to know what I’m saying.
I quickly figure out that I’m not quite on Earth. It’s magical. The people here have ranks in different jobs. The little girl wants to be an adventurer. Her dad bought me to protect her, but I need to level up to protect her.
Her dad leaves me in the pen. I try to follow after him out, but he locks me in. Alone in a pen, I hear a growl and I flinch, looking behind me. Is that a boar? But it’s on two legs. Wait is it chasing after me? DAMMIT SAVE ME! THIS IS ABUSE! After running for a few minutes, I am certain that there was nothing to do but fight.
The boar uses his club to try to hit me and it lands. I feel a sharp pain in my legs and blood flows from my head. I feel faint, but I want to live this time. I don’t want my life taken from me!
After that, a warm fire envelops my body. It warms me and I feel less pain. I growl, letting my voice out. The boar like thing shivers all of the sudden and tries to run. I bite its leg and it screams as its leg turns into pork. It falls to the ground because it can’t balance and I aim for its throat. It screams one last shriek before silence fills the room.
“That level 8 ogre should’ve leveled you up enough to protect Isa.”
Dammit man, you couldn’t have saved me? I look at the man and he picks me up. I look up and the world says that I have moved up 3 levels. That guy was strong! What would’ve you done if I died? I yip my complaints at him, but he doesn’t think much of the noise.
The man bathes me and brings me to his daughter. She looks about 12 and puts me in a pet bed. This is severely degrading. Well, at least it’s soft.
