Learning To Love Again - Chapter 104 No Aunty
“Kim Xia? Su Lian looks very surprised.
“Why are you calling me my stage name? It’s so distant. I thought you of all people would at least call me Yang Xia, my real name.”
“I’m sorry- Yang Xia.” Su Lian corrects herself and Kim Xia shows a satisfied smile.
The sound of cars driving by and people walking around make her feel slightly nervous. “Can we go inside your car? I’m worried that someone will recognize me.”
Su Lian nods her head and all three of them take a seat inside.
Once seated, Kim Xia smiles and opens up the food she ordered. “It’s been so long. What have you been up to? I haven’t seen you in years.” Even though the food is cold, she doesn’t seem to mind and eats happily.
“I’ve been working outside the country.”
Kim Xia nods her head and her eyes shift to Su Yichen. Su Lian has already taken off his glasses so she can see his full appearance. She knows that he looks very familiar, but she can’t remember who he resembles. “Are you married now, Is this your son?”
“Yes, he is my son, but I’m not married. His name is Yi Chen.”
Kim Xia smiles at him. “Hello Yichen, my name is Xia. You can call me aunty.”
Su Yichen recognizes her. He remembers that she was the one who was singing on stage at the concert a few days ago. “Hello.” He says politely.
Kim Xia frowns inwardly. ‘No aunty.’
She looks back at Su Lian. “You didn’t even call. I tried looking for you, but no one knew where you were. You could have at least left a message.”
“I’m sorry. Things happened and you always seemed so busy.”
Kim Xia nods her head, was very busy back then. She had just started her career as an idol so it took all her time.
She is the first born of four children. Her father died and left her mother to raise all four of them by herself. They had the basic necessities, but couldn’t afford anything else.
She didn’t like their situation and wanted to change it so she invested all of her energy into fulfilling her dream.
And she did it. She became a huge sensation in China and Korea.
By the time she had become successful, she discovered a very important thing- it’s lonely at the top.
The people around her are either jealous of her or want to suck up to her.
Even her family maintains a ‘Yes ma’am’ attitude towards her.
Although she lives a life of pure luxury, enjoys fame and is the envy of many young girls, she is stressed. The pressure to ‘maintain her image’ is so immense. People are waiting for her to fall or get involved in a scandal that will make headlines and destroy her career.
She is grateful for what she’s become, but she just wishes that she could have real friends that she can just be herself around. Kim Xia goes into deep thought while slurping down her noodles.
Watching her eat in content, Su Lian cannot ignore the fact that her food is probably ice cold. She had waited for her and Yichen to eat their food in the restaurant before she followed them out. “Don’t you want to heat that up?”
“No, not really.” She laughs before looking up at Su Lian. “Do You remember when your mom used to bring us here? She would let me order takeaways for my siblings at home. They’d be so excited that they’d it eat just like that- without warming it.”
Kim Xia turns her head to look out the window. “My mom would get so mad and say that if they get sick it would be none of her concern.”
“The good old days.”
Her siblings are spoiled now. They can get whatever they want so they don’t care about the little things. Even though they are family, she barely sees them anymore. Everyone is busy with their own lives.
Money changes people.
