Learning To Love Again - Chapter 132 Like Father Like Son
Not long after, she falls asleep in his arms.
Han Yuan carries her up to her room and tucks her in her bed. He doesn’t change her into her pajamas this time. The weather is getting much colder so he just wraps her up in a thick blanket and leaves only her face exposed.
She looks so peaceful while asleep, Han Yuan stares at her face, lost in a trance.
“So beautiful.” He says and places a light kiss on her forehead.
Is he making progress with her? If a woman can fall asleep in your arms, that means she trusts you.
Does he have another chance to make her his again?
If she lets him back in her life, he’ll cherish her this time and make sure that she doesn’t shed another tear.
He takes a seat on her bed and just stares at her.
“Lian, I’m sorry.” He runs his fingers through her hair.
“Thank you for staying alive.”
“Thank you for giving birth to Yichen.”
“Thank you for not finding someone else.”
“More importantly, thank you for coming back.”
He brings out his phone and makes a call to his assistant. “Deng Xiao, I want you to get me all the information surrounding Tang Xiu’s death.”
After hearing a response, he ends the call and looks at her sleeping figure.
“You just rest well, leave everything to me.” He kisses her forehead again before leaving her room.
Once he leaves, Su Lian opens her eyes and stares at the place where he stood before.
There is a complicated expression on her face.
She wasn’t asleep, she woke up the moment he started wrapping her around in the thick blanket. She pulls it off of her and takes in a deep breath.
She felt suffocated with it. It’s cold but the heat is on so there is no need for this. Where did he even get this from?
She doesn’t understand him. He thanked her so sincerely and is investigating her mother’s death.
Just what exactly is he playing at?
Why is he helping her?
She thought so much until her head hurt and she did the opposite of ‘rest well’.
…..
The next morning, Yichen woke up feeling very refreshed.
He ran to his mother’s room and started jumping on her bed. “Mommy, I met grandma and grandpa.”
“They bought me so many toys and said that I should go visit them again. Can I?”
Su Lian groans and places a hand on her forehead.
Her head aches like hell and she feels like shit.
She couldn’t get any sleep last night.
Hearing his mother groan, Su Yichen looks at her in concern.
“Mommy, you okay?” He asks and places a hand on her forehead.
She was burning hot.
“Mommy has a fever.” He exclaims and runs out of the room.
He comes back a few minutes later with a big bowl of warm water and a cloth.
He dips the cloth into the water, squeezes it and wipes her face.
“Feel better, mommy?”
Su Lian’s mouth twitches.
The water is warm. How is she supposed to feel better when he’s rubbing warm water on her? She’s burning up she needs cold water.
Su Lian rubs his head and smiles. “Yes, I feel much better. My little baby is a miracle worker.”
Su Yichen blushes and looks down in embarrassment.
“I’ll go get you some soup.” He says and runs out of the room again.
The moment he leaves, Su Lian takes the warm cloth off her head calls Bella. “I can’t come in to work today, reschedule everything I have for tomorrow.”
Bella: “Okay miss, Is there anything else?”
“No, just call me if there’s an emergency.” Su Lian ends the call and Yichen returns with a tray of food.
There’s a glass of water, a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and a bowl of canned alphabet soup.
“Breakfast. Eat it fast mommy.” Su Yichen places the tray on her lap and watches her intently. “You should eat the soup first. It’s good for sick people.”
Su Lian is stuck between laughter and tears.
Her heart feels warmed that her son is trying to take care of her but she can’t eat this. The alphabet soup is supposed to be warmed in the microwave or on a stove top, but he just brought it as it is.
His look seems as if he’s waiting for praise. She can’t break his heart.
“I want to eat the sandwich first,” Su Lian picks up the peanut butter and jam sandwich and takes a big bite. “Delicious. Baby, are you a chef?”
He blushes again and gets off her bed.
“Mommy needs to stay warm.” He takes the thick blanket that Han Yuan had put on her and she took off previously and drapes it over her.
Su Lian’s expression turns dark.
It’s too hot for this thing.
Don’t tell her that he’ll become an airhead like his dad.
