Legacy Of Forgotten Times - Chapter 186 So you don't know everything?
“Fine, we will talk more about this once you have rested enough. For now, I will leave you to bond with your cute little son, hehehehe,” said Lyra while forcefully putting the wox cub in Linri’s arms.
“Mom, wait! You still haven’t told me to-”
*Smack*
Lyra closed the door behind her without waiting for Linri to finish. At least, for now, he needed to get used to his new appendages. Anyway, considering Lyra could hide hers easily, there was definitely a way to do so.
As he was thinking, Linri looked at the cute little wox cub in his arms. It was also looking at him with watery eyes, its tails wagging like that of a dog’s. It was disturbing, since they were fluffy they were actually tickling his stomach.
“You! Stop that!” said Linri while holding the little cub with one hand. It was no bigger than his fist and looking at him with confused eyes.
“Dada!” Linri heard the same baby-like voice in his mind.
“Stop calling me that! If you are going to call me something, at least call me Master,” said Linri with a serious tone.
“Dada!” said the little wox cub again, infuriating him.
Wait, maybe he was thinking about this the wrong way. He was not shackled by this little thing and he was clearly not going crazy just yet. If he can train him good, maybe he can make him battle like a pokemon?
No, he was thinking too small, this was a unique beast in the world, unlike any other. It was impossible for a fox and a wolf to crossbreed because of the difference in their chromosome numbers, so, if he sold it, he could probably get a lot of money for it.
No, he was still thinking too small! Getting rid of this thing just for money was not enough! Maybe he can cut a deal with a mage and get some equipment imbued with magic and get stronger that way.
The little wox cub was biting its owner’s thumb without knowing how he was trying to sell it for benefits. Honestly, it probably wouldn’t even understand it if Linri tried to cook it. From its perspective, Linri was its parent, so it would always trust him unconditionally. He had basically gained an ally that would never betray him and Linri was aware of that. However, to him, the wox cub was just too much of a bad sign that he intentionally decided to ignore that fact. Every time he looked at this thing, he would question whether or not he was going insane. Ugh, too troublesome to think about it. Let’s just let the future Linri handle this thing.
He tried to ignore the wox cub and go to sleep, but the mischievous little critter didn’t let him. He was about to throw it towards the door again when his mom opened his door which made him stop promptly. Lyra was holding a tray of soup she had cooked just for him.
“How is it? Are you feeling better now?”
“Yes,” said Linri miserably. He knew this was coming, but couldn’t stop it. You see, in the original timeline, wox had a quirk. It liked sitting on Linri’s head. Max had found it cute so, whenever it was in Linri’s vicinity, it would always sit on his head. It was also the same for this version of the wox and, since his mother was here, it couldn’t just throw it.
“Good, good. I was honestly worried since you slept for two weeks straight,” said Lyra offhandedly.
Linri spat out the soup he was drinking.
“What!? Two weeks?! Why didn’t you tell me about this before?!”
He had lost too much valuable time. This was a time he could have used to get on the good books of others or straight-up con them. That also meant there were only two weeks left before The False God event starts. That was bad. Now that he thought about it, he had evolved ahead of time, meaning he lost his chance to one-shot Leon with [Fire Manipulation].
FUCK!!!!!
Why can’t he just have a relaxed fight for once? Why can’t he just kill people with their own spells? Whoever is in charge of this world, you just don’t want to see him be happy, right? It must have been because of that bastard OG Linri. Yes! He definitely wanted to make his life a living hell, otherwise he wouldn’t be so lucky to evolve ahead of time!
“Calm down, it’s not that big of a deal. Don’t tell me there was something important you needed to attend,” Lyra asked since she knew that her son had information about the future.
“Technically no, but there is a big fight coming up in the school! I could have used this time to deciev- I mean convince others to work with me! There are so many opportunities I have missed. I could have made countless minio- I mean friends.”
“What fight?”
“A guy called Leon will invade the school and kill students just to spite Richard. The worst part is that old pervert was going to join him in the slaughter, but I think I already changed that future. I think he had 5 different elemental bodies and he always attacked with a single element. At first fire, then wind, water, earth and lastly light. In the light form, we had to kill him at the same time as Richard or he wouldn’t stay dead. The same was true for the old pervert, he would keep reviving as long as Leon was there.
Before you ask why I want to go to a death trap like that, let me tell you the reason: I don’t know how strong the person I am supposed to fight is, so I need to fight as much as I can to get stronger. I still might not know much about the supernatural side of the world, but the more fights you have, the stronger you will get is the same everywhere, right? Now that it’s certain I won’t die from my bloodlines clashing, it’s even more important for me to get stronger so that I can survive that calamity,” Linri said.
“Oh really? Who is this Leon person? Why would Richard try to kill his own students for him?” Lyra asked doubtfully. This was the first time she had heard this name, so she was finding it hard to believe such a thing would happen.
“Him? Apparently, he is Richard’s childhood friend and he blames himself for his death. Honestly, that’s just weird. The guy knew the risks but still decided to do something stupid, so why would he blame himself for his death? I certainly wouldn’t.”
“Hm, just to be safe, I will talk to him about this. If I can’t reach him, assume the worst,” said Lyra and took the tray in front of Linri since he was finished with the soup.
“By the way, where is dad?” Linri asked.
He found it weird that, despite something big happening like his evolution, Arkady wasn’t around. Normally he would be all over him and possibly even try to get him drunk to celebrate the occasion. It was definitely not because he wanted to see his scruffy face.
“He went to get someone, though you should already know who it is, Mr. Prophet. Ah, such a missed opportunity. I was wondering what kind of a face you would have made when you met them, but it seems like that’s not going to happen since you already know about it, right?” said Lyra as she got up to wash the dishes.
Huh? This was new. At least he didn’t remember Arkady bringing anyone to meet with Linri…Wait! He got it! It must have been his guardian beast! Of course, Arkady also had one and Lyra was possibly saying that Arkady went to get it… well, at least that was the only thing Linri could think of.
“Right, right! Just in case we are on the same page, can you remind me what we are talking about again?”
“You don’t know?” Lyra asked with a mischievous smile. Ooooh, seeing Linri’s troubled face was so cute! She wanted to tease him more!
“O-Of course I know! Yep, it’s that thing. Definitely that thing…” Linri lied through his teeth. He definitely didn’t know what it was, but, at this point, he was too ashamed to ask about it.
“So you don’t know everything?”
“… I only know bits and pieces. For example, I haven’t seen anything related to you in the future and nothing about this ritual. If I had, I would have told you about this long ago. I mean, who would want to live with the knowledge they were going to die soon if they knew there was a cure?” said Linri in defeat. There was no use in pretending anymore. He had decided to become somewhat honest with Lyra so he was not going to pretend to be all-knowing like he was with the others.
“Anyway, go back to sleep. We will speak more about this tomorrow. We also have to test your new bloodline and what traits does it possess. It’s going to be a busy day, so sleep tight!” said Lyra as she left the room.
At that point, Linri noticed one thing. She still hadn’t told him about the method to tuck his tails away… FU-
