Legacy Of Forgotten Times - Chapter 192 A-Burst
Jaime closed the stats page. Now that her [A-Burst] was activated, she was confident about her chances. The [A-Burst] system in Autumnfall RP club could be called the twin brother of the [Ex-Burst].
Basically, instead of getting a cool new ultimate ability you can use once certain conditions were fulfilled, you got a boost in your attributes for a set amount of time, so the changes in her attribute were not permanent and, once the time period was over, she was going to go back to her old attributes. It was like drawing upon your inner potential for a short period of time.
Every second was precious to her. She did not know how long her [A-Burst] was going to last, but, from how much boost she gained to her attributes, it shouldn’t be too long. She took a look at Leon. His eyes were glued to her shining sword. This was a perfect opportunity to attack him!
[Silver Sword Fourth Form: Shunpo]
Jaime teleported in front of Leon. Yes, this time she literally teleported. She was so fast that she almost broke the sound barrier! This certainly felt good!
[Silver Sword Third Form: Tsuiin o Ryu]
Jaime stabbed her sword forward with [4x Extreme Speed] and [4x Extreme Strength]. You might be wondering why she would only attack at [4x Extreme Speed] considering that, with her Agility she should easily be able to achieve Uber Speed.
Jaime’s katana split into two. One of them was attacking Leon’s neck while the other one was attacking his heart! She was able to stab him twice successfully.
As Jaime pulled back her sword Leon’s eyes became as big as saucers. He put his hand over his neck and burnt the wound with his white flames. He took a look at Jaime’s sword again but he could only see a single one. Then how was she able to stab him twice?
The answer was [Silver Sword Third Form: Tsuiin o Ryu]. When Jaime is using this move, she continuously stabs her opponent in two different directions. Since she was stabbing him at [4x Extreme Speed] it created the image that there were two different swords stabbing Leon while, in reality, only a single sword was stabbing him.
Seeing that Leon was still trying to grasp with his situation, Jaime had no intention to stop her flurry of attacks as she sheathed her Katana. Jaime felt like her sword was different somehow. She felt like she stepped into a new realm. There was no sword. Maybe it was corny to say it, but she felt like her sword was alive and responding to her call.
[Silver Sword First Form: Ame o Kiru]
She slashed at Leon with [6x Superhuman Speed] and her sword left a beautiful trail of silvery light. She had actually broken the sound barrier with that attack!
From the corner of her eye, she saw that her moves just now consumed Sword Energy. She did not know where it came from and how she was supposed to use it, so she just slashed with her sword. For a swordmaster like her, she did not need to think complicated thoughts. She just needed to slash her opponent!
*Splash*
Jaime’s face was splashed by Leon’s blood, but she was not affected by it and continued on her combo.
[Silver Sword Seventh Form: Yama no Kurakeru]
Jaime slashed again with her sword from the sky with [6x Superhuman Strength] and [6x Superhuman Speed], leaving a cross-shaped wound on Leon’s body.
*Splash*
Now Jaime’s whole face covered with blood. She looked like a demon from the old ages bathing in the blood of her enemies. She felt her wrist screaming in pain. Even though she was dominating Leon, she was breaking past the limits of her body.
Thanks to the [Silver Sword] techniques, Jaime could temporarily surpass her own attributes, but it wasn’t without its cost. Just now, she combined two [Silver Sword] techniques without giving her body enough time to recover, so there was a high chance that she broke her wrist due to the excessive pressure. The book Jaime’s family left behind highly advised against combining two sword forms and it wasn’t without its reason.
Leon finally looked like he was afraid. He was just playing with this little girl, thinking that she was a mouse, but she turned out to be a tiger in disguise! She seemed like she wasn’t affected by the divine fire protecting his body. No! He wasn’t going to die just like this. First, he had to put some distance between them!
[Giant Firebolt] X 9!
[Silver Sword Fifth Form: Hikari o Hansha]
Leon saw that the firebolts he threw at the demon in front of him returning back to him and hitting him. Thankfully, he was immune to his own flames, or he would have been in big trouble!
Jaime was not going to give Leon any more chances to react anymore. The gears on her brain were turning at an extreme speed thanks to her [3x Superior Accuracy]. This was one of the hidden uses of this particular attribute.
Most people in the club only used it to counter their opponent’s agility as every level in accuracy meant that your opponent had one less level of agility, making it easier to hit them. But Luxor showed another use of it in The Virus event.
In that event, the boss had [5x Uber Accuracy] and he made it so that he could react to anything almost instantly, making up a bullshit reason saying that, in order to be accurate, a person had to be able to think fast. So, if a person could think fast, they could do much more than just being able to accurately hit their opponent.
Thinking about those terms, Jaime wondered: if Kris had an Accuracy stat, how high it would be? After all, he could think and calculate stuff at the speed of a quantum computer, right?
After reflecting Leon’s attack back at him, Jaime switched the hand she was holding her sword. At this point, even if she didn’t break it before, her wrist was broken for sure now.
[Silver Sword Sixth Form: Hauru Tatsumaki]
She circled around Leon at [5x Uber Speed] and she left cuts all over his body. Leon did not have any time to think or respond. The moment he tried to move a part of his body, Jaime would accurately stab that part. She was like a tornado and he was stuck in the middle of it!
Leon eventually fell to the ground. He didn’t have any strength left. He had become a mangled piece of meat. He was still having a hard time believing that the girl he was toying with just a minute ago was now about to finish him off.
That was when Leon saw his opportunity. He did not know why, but Jaime had suddenly become much slower than she was before. This was his opportunity to escape!
[Flame Wave]
Jaime was pushed back by the white sea of flames. Her [A-Burst] was finally over: it only lasted a minute or so. She wasn’t able to finish him off. She was destined for failure. She thought that, with this last chance, she might be able to redeem herself, but it seemed like she was wrong. God must have been playing a cruel joke on her.
She was rolling on the ground. She didn’t have any strength to lift her arms, let alone finish Leon off. She did the best she could, but it still was not enough! Why!
[Supernova]!
White light covered Jaime sight. She could see a giant white fireball akin to a sun behind Leon. This time, he didn’t have the smug look on his face. He looked like he wanted to finish her off as fast as possible.
A smile crept onto her face. At least she was able to achieve her goal of slashing that smug look off of his face.
Just as Leon’s final attack was about to hit her, she saw a three-tailed fluffy creature stand in front of her. It seemed like this poor animal was not aware of what was going on. Jaime’s body moved on its own and hid the poor little cub on her embrace.
She was not going to let an innocent soul suffer because of her mistakes. Maybe if she shielded it like Kris did for her, she might be able to save it. She closed her eyes and waited for Leon’s attack. She was holding the little cub on her embrace tightly.
However, the burning sensation she was expecting never arrived. Was she already dead? Did she just not notice it because she died instantly?
“*Burp* Excuse me! Yikes, I thought it would taste like vanilla since it was white but this thing is disgusting”
Jaime heard a familiar voice. She must be imagining things. He can’t be here. Then as she was shivering she felt a hand in her head.
“Look at you covered in dirt and blood. This look doesn’t suit your charms. Anyway, even though I rushed as fast as I could it seems like I was still late. For now, hold on tightly to this little trouble maker. I will be done in a jiffy”
The hand left Jaime’s head and she finally opened her eyes. Tears welled up in her eyes again but this time they were tears of joy.
