Legacy Of Forgotten Times - Chapter 207 Don't buy place holder
“Do you yield? If you don’t I can destroy your internal organs with these needles” said Linri.
Of course, asking an opponent to surrender was out of character for him. However, there was a big reason for that. You see, Linri usually used this ability against hordes of skeletons so he didn’t really need to aim well with it. Even if he didn’t try to hit something specifically they would just hit a random skeleton in the crowd.
This time he needed to calibrate his attack to hit a single target which was very hard for the current him. He couldn’t just aim each and single one of them. It was already good enough if they went towards the direction he intended. Most of the needles he created had hit the wall around Rina and only a small part of them had actually stabbed her. Still, that was enough to cover her with needles which should say something. Secondly, since this was an attack made from a defensive ability it didn’t carry any power and each of the needles just hit for [1x Average Strength]. Linri might raise their speed with using his ice manipulation but he couldn’t make them any harder! So the damage he dealt to her was actually much lower than what it seemed at first glance.

The good thing was in this time frame she had spent three times as much as the prana he had spent. The bad thing was it wasn’t even close to half her maximum prana pool while he was already halfway there!
Worst of all his attack had only dealt a measly 23 damage! He had to make her scared and give up otherwise he had no way to deal any more damage. He might keep making an [Ice Wall] and exploding it afterwards but he was doubtful whether she would fall for the same move twice. What about when she was moving at superior speed? He would have no way of hitting her again!
*Cough*
Linri watched as Rina coughed a mouthful of blood. This was to his benefit as she might actually get scared and give up now.
“Let me see you try that!” Rina said as she locked her gaze to Linri. She looked horrifying. There wasn’t a speck of her beauty left as her face was covered in blood.
“You asked for it!” Linri said as he reached out his hand towards her and clenched it into a fist activating his signature ability [Ice Manipulation]!
[AoE Lightning]
Rina’s body started to spark with lightning. Then she fired a cone of lightning towards him from her hands and during the process all the ice needles covering her body vaporized!
Oi, oi, oi, oi! Even though they were separated into thin needles those thing still had [2x Exceptional Endurance]! How the fuck can you melt them so easily!?

Linri tanked this attack with his ice shield and the ones that splashed onto him was stopped by his armour, making it so that he took minimal damage from the attack but there was an additional effect not stated in the skill’s description; paralyze!
Despite it not being stated, Rina’s attacks carried the status effect paralyze. Status effects were not implemented in the club so it was not in the descriptions of the abilities’ themselves. For example, Linri’s fire attacks carried the burn status effect while his ice attacks carried frostbite. Since his ice was usually -40 C° or lower the moment it touched the skin it froze the tissue and as for fire, there was no need for him to explain right?
Linri lost control of his left arm which was numbed by the electricity. The rest of his body felt tingly but he should still be able to move.

Unbeknownst to both Linri and Rina, there was someone watching them. By that, I do not mean the mysterious voice or better known as Ms Snow. The truth was their fight was actually broadcasted through the school.
Since this involved their fate every student and teacher in the premises of the school was watching their fight. Almost all of them were supporting Rina. The reason was simple; it was just not this fight being broadcasted in the school. The whole event from start to finish was broadcasted. So, of course, the students saw Linri’s disregard for others’ lives or his selfish reason for delaying the fight. If he won what he would ask from the mysterious voice was also dodgy. At least when it came to Rina they were sure that she would ask to stop the bomb.
The spectators had seen how she had tried to save the others in the second event and how she was genuinely devastated to see her brother die. When she came out of the room with red puffy eyes she had garnered quite a dedicated fan base. They just wanted to comfort him and tell him everything was going to be alright.
But then this fucking asshole named Linri dared to hurt their goddess. He could not be forgiven! What if he had actually killed their goddess. As long as they were aware the moment someone loses their lives were gone for good. So Linri’s victory meant Rina’s death. No wonder people were cursing at him.
“Who do you think is going to win?” Kou asked Kris who was sitting next to him.
“It’s hard to say. From all the standpoints Linri seemed to be at a disadvantage but if Rina gets cocky again one more time he might finish her in one move. That attack just now should have taken a good chunk of her health”
“Didn’t Muffin and Kasaix had a lot of fights in the VCSR? How many of them did Linri win?”
“They had a total of 17 fights and Linri lost every single one of them” Kris repeated the information stored in his brain thanks to his secondary [Living Computer].
“What? Then why did he join this event anyway?” Kou asked.
“Hmph, he is suicidal that’s why!” Jaime said with a displeased voice.
“No, I am sure that big bro will win! He will never take the short end of the stick. He was able to outsmart gods, can any of you do that?” Brie said with fanaticism in her voice.
After the events with Tory, she was a firm follower of Linri. She knew that he might be weak-willed and vulnerable at times but he would never get into a fight he can’t win. He must have some sort of plan. She was sure of that. He must be holding back because he didn’t want to kill Rina and make her give up instead.
“You little minx! When did you stop taking the side of your big sister and support that rascal?” said Jaime as she got Brie to a headlock and grounded her fist on Brie’s head.
“That- Well, we are not talking about his deeds. I was just stating simple facts,” honestly what Brie said was the sole reason why Kris didn’t outright say Linri would lose. All the sings showed that Linri would lose but just like Brie said he would never get into a fight that he could not win.
“Big sis it hurts!” Brie struggled to get out and Jaime eventually let her go.
On another part of the school, similar scenes were playing out, without noticing everyone was fervently discussing who was going to win or what would they have done if they were in Linri’s or Rina’s shoes. There were even some claiming that they would have been able to beat the duo with one of their hands tied in their back.
A certain cat girl was even claiming that one kick would be all it take to knock Rina out. She was also planning to avenge her little brother if that pesky human dared to kill her. No one could mess with the little brother of the princess of catfolk and get away scotfree!
“Ellie, are you sure you want to keep watching that?” said a blue dog that looked like a husky. He was looking at his owner with sad eyes.
“Um,” the girl just gave a one-word answer. Her eyes didn’t even leave the screen for a second as if she was afraid that the moment she pried her eyes away it would be all over.
“Why do you care about that ungrateful brat! You know that you have ‘responsibilities’ to uphold” said the blue dog with a growl. He looked like he was about to tear someone’s face away at the slightest provocation.
The girl did not answer the dog because this was a question she could not even answer herself. In this world, there were questions one could not answer no matter how hard they thought about it and for her, this was one of them.
—
Now that her dire predicament was solved Rina looked more relaxed. She had the upper hand and there was no way that she would make the same mistake again.
“Are you ready for the second round?” said Rina as lightning crackled between her fingers.
