Legacy Of Forgotten Times - Chapter 218 asd
Linri dashed through the stairs he just came down from. So where exactly did he land when he created the slide? It wasn’t the ground floor that was for sure. His [Ice Wall] ability wouldn’t have been able to stretch that much. So it should be either the second floor or the third. He could also cross the second floor off of his list since she would most likely hear the fighting noises and at least peek out her head to check what was going on… maybe?
What if she was so drunk that she didn’t even hear the sounds of fighting? That was also a possibility. Since he was hesitating about it Linri checked all the rooms on the second floor and they were empty.
It was the third floor now he was at least sure of that. Linri stopped running at [4x Extreme Speed] to catch his breath. Damn because of his libido he lost close to a hundred stamina. His new attributes were good and all but if he used them too much he would lose stamina too quickly.
That was the drawback of his attribute distribution. His stats were more like that of an assassin so basically, he excelled in instant movement. This was going to be a problem for him if in the future he was forced to keep moving in drawn-out fights.
Dammit! On paper being a woxen was god sent. He had the body of a werewolf and the magical affinity of a kitsune. That would ensure that he would have no weaknesses. He would start fights at range and bombard the opponents with his skills. If they thought he was a normal mage and his opponents got close to him, he could use his new body to assassinate them.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t as good as it sounded. His stats were skewed. From what Lyra told him a werewolf had high strength and endurance with speed and agility being secondary attributes for them. After all, they had an immensely strong regeneration. On that note, he was an anomaly with speed and agility being his main attributes while strength and endurance being secondary.
The kitsune side of his abilities was even worse! Normally, a kitsune was a nature spirit so they should have an affinity to all elements. Of course, they had their main element they were born with. They would build their altars with that one. As for the tails, it was hard to explain.
If he tried to put it into words it would be like each of their tails would act like a pseudo-altar, granting them the ability to cast the spells of said element. Most importantly they would get their tails as they grew older. They didn’t need to do anything! Linri, on the other hand, had to find treasures to earn himself new tails.
It was just unfair!! Despite evolving he still had to work hard in order to grow stronger. Ugh, at least he still had an advantage in which he could choose which elements he would be able to get unlike normal kitsunes but there was one single problem. They were living in the fucking modern times! Where the hell was he supposed to find an elemental treasure? By this point, all of them should have been destroyed by normal people and unless one cultivated it themselves it would be impossible to find it.
Fuck! Fuck! Fuck! Fuck!
In short, he was subpar as a werewolf and even worse as a kitsune. Whose idea was it to combine these two things? That person must definitely have a screw missing in their heads. Just because two things complemented each other on paper that didn’t mean it would be the same in reality.
Despite complaining so much Linri was ignoring a certain factor. The speciality of his race. He wasn’t sure if this was a rule in the world but every race had their own speciality. Werewolves had strong bodies and regeneration, Kitsunes had multiple-element affinity, Undine could live underwater as well as above ground, Vampires were immortal, Cat folk were the fastest etc.
From what Linri discovered in his experiments with Lyra, the racial trait of Woxen was [Devour]. At first, he had thought this was just an upgraded version of his [Flame Manipulation] but it wasn’t. Little wox was able to do the same thing meaning this was their racial ability.
Aside from granting him prana Devour racial trait had other uses as well. For example, the more he consumed elements the stronger his body would become. Unfortunately, it was an improvement so small that he could just ignore it. If he wanted to get an overall improvement he needed to either consume the elemental attacks of someone for a long long time or he could again find an elemental treasure to improve his body.
Unlike his tails, this treasure didn’t need to be of other elements, so he could consume the treasures of his current elements too. They found it out when Lyra fed him a [Flame Orchid] she was cultivating for the last ten years. Otherwise, his current attributes wouldn’t be so strong right now. Heck, his attributes were probably enough to go toe to toe with an evolved attribute only character.
Of course, his [Devour] trait had its own drawbacks just like any other racial trait. I mean, Werewolves had the bloodlust curse, Kitsunes took an extremely long time to mature, Undine couldn’t live in polluted waters or cities with air pollution, Vampires couldn’t go out to sunlight and Cat folk had weak bodies etc.
The drawback of his [Devour] trait was he couldn’t consume the same treasure twice. Basically, even if he had eaten a second [Falme Orchid] it didn’t have any effects on his body and from Lyra’s reasoning he probably had to eat an even more potent treasure if he wanted to get the same effects. This was only one of its drawbacks. From Linri’s perspective, the second one was even more lethal.
Whatever tail he was using at the time he would have an weakness to its opposite element. That was extremely normal and wasn’t the problem. A fire elemental creature would be weak towards water attacks. But his weakness was even worse. While normally the attacks would be dealing 2x the damage he would be dealt 4x the damage.
The even worse part was that he couldn’t change between his tails willy nilly. He had to wait at least 10 seconds before changing his element. These 10 seconds were extremely long with how fast the fights were becoming. So if his opponent could use multiple elements he would be screwed!
As Linri was complaining in his mind he opened one more door in the third-floor absent-mindedly and saw a Silfy drinking Vodka straight from the bottle.
