Legacy Of Forgotten Times - Chapter 233 Place Holder v7
Amidst his despair, Linri suddenly started to feel sleepy. His crippling fear started to subside. Now that he got a grip on his thoughts Linri automatically repeated his dogma.
1- Calm down; discard all unnecessary emotions. Anger, fear, anxiety, happiness, sadness, desperation, pain; everything. Emotions cloud your judgement so you have to learn to control them.
His fear was locked up deep in his heart. After this fight was over he was still going to confront his fear. He didn’t know how to handle such a thing. Despite his nonchalant attitude to most things and his arrogance, he had a weak will.
He was not bothered by pain but that was not because he could grit his teeth and welcome it. That was because he was used to it.
He could kill people with cold blood but that was because in his heart the people of this world was just game characters so in essence it couldn’t really be counted as killing people. Maybe this was a way for him to escape his responsibilities but he didn’t care.
He was rational in his thoughts and could analyse things from a third-person perspective but that was because he was taught to be that way.
All in all, Linri was weak. He was extremely weak. If he wasn’t so weak instead of ‘shields’ he would have real friends. A leopard couldn’t change his spots and it was also true for him.
He was weak and couldn’t handle the pressure. Actually, if he were to make a comparison Linri would be a coal. He was lazy so he needed someone to pressure him to unleash his full potential and turn into a diamond. Just like the time he made the deal with the gods. But just like coal if he was put under to much pressure he would crumble to dust just like now. His mortality was too much for him to handle right now.
Most importantly if he could not find a way to rationalise it in his mind that pressure would be enough to destroy his mind.
Well, that was a problem for Future Linri to solve. For now, he needed to defeat [Light Lord] Leon and find out where Richard is.
In a game, it would make sense for twin bosses to appear at the same time but this was reality. Since it was like that it wouldn’t be a surprise to him if Richard was hiding somewhere and act as a revival station for Leon.
Also, Linri could not help but notice the notifications on the corner of his eye. So it was [A.I Chip]’s interference that made it possible for him to regain his sanity. But he felt far from happy. This meant [A.I Chip] could directly affect his brain and this was a very easy gateway for brainwashing.
There was something wrong with his chip and he knew it. The problem was he did not know what was wrong with it. According to Hina’s description of this thing, it was only an auxiliary gadget used to help students and track their development.
Normally it was the students themselves who would record their info manually but it wasn’t the case for him after he awakened his [Ex-Burst]. The chip had actually scanned his body, found his abilities and recorded them, even giving them a name during the process.
Some of the names were even foreign to him so he was sure that the chip didn’t pull something out from his memories.
Anyway, this was again something for Future Linri to solve… thank god that Linri couldn’t time travel otherwise his future self would definitely come back to past to beat the shit out of him. How did he know this you ask? Because it was something the present him would definitely do to past him so why wouldn’t the future him, right?
So let’s summarise what he was supposed to do? Find a way to force out Richard, figure out the problem with his [A.I Chip], most importantly rationalise his mortality so that his mind wouldn’t crumble under pressure. Would religion work? I mean the gods in this world are real so it wouldn’t be a bad idea right? That way at least he would be sure that his afterlife would be comfortable.
Ugh, he was going off-topic again.
Linri looked towards [Light Lord] Leon. He was looking towards him in surprise since Linri had dodged his sure hit spell.
Despite thinking so many useless things for a long time actually not much time had passed. From Leon’s perspective, Linri was having a breakdown, then he cast his spell, Linri slumped forward and then got up.
[Silver Sword Seventh Form: Yama no Kurakeru]
Jaime’s sword crushed Leon. For a minute there Leon almost felt like a real mountain was crashing against him. He was thrown back because of the attack.
Right, how could he forget that this girl was as annoying as that filthy animal?
He was focused on him too much since he dared to insult him but this girl was not any worse than him when it came to offending him.
[Light Lord] Leon remembered what happened to [Fire Lord]. It was such a disgracing memory that he had actually chosen to forget it.
Now that he was remembering it wasn’t it because of this girl that he was beaten up so much back then? Just remembering it was enough to make his blood boil.
[Light Lord] Leon spit out blood from his mouth and got up from the ground. Shaking away the dust and leaves on his body. Just now he was only having some fun. This body was his strongest incarnation yet and it was the strongest one he could send in the limits of his agreement. Still, he also had a surprise ready for these pesky mortals.
As Linri watched Leon get up from the ground he let out a sigh. This was the final fight and it was going to be hardest up to date. Just like Jin he might also die. However, right now he had a different question on his mind.
Should he activate his new [Ex-Burst: God of Twilight Descends]?
This was the trump card he prepared for the final fight. Once he activated it, he could instantly dominate Leon and kill him. Unfortunately, this fight was not going to be over until they find Richard and kill him too.
Was that really the only way? Did he really have to kill Richard? He was just a harmless old pervert… Well, not exactly harmless since he is probably one of the strongest beings in this world but at least during this fight, he was going to be weak enough that they could defeat him.
Throughout the day Linri thought of a way to solve this issue but no matter what it all came to one issue. In order to kill Leon, they also had to kill Richard.
They weren’t strong enough to seal Leon so that option was a no go. They also couldn’t play for time as the fight didn’t have a time limit. There was also the fact that if the others were going to agree with him.
Deep down they were probably the same as Linri, seeing this world and its people nothing more than game characters. So would they be willing to endanger their lives for a game character? Especially after one of their friends just died?
The answer was not. They obviously would not agree to that.
So, in the end, they had to kill Richard.
THAT FUCKING IDIOT!!!!
Linri had warned him not to get involved with this. But noooooooooooo. He had to just fucking go and join the antagonist. That- UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
Linri took a deep breath. If he let himself get angry he might lose his control over his emotions and be crushed by the despair. Huh, despair. Isn’t that the term from Danganronpa series? Maybe he could name his crippling fear despair state. That sounded cool.
As he was trying to distract himself a notification was blinking in front of Linri. He was trying to ignore it hence the random thoughts.
[Activated Ex-Burst: Twilight God Descends]
[Please choose the form you want to activate]
[Knight of Skoll]/[Sacred Beast of Twilight]/[Sorcerer of Aguara]
The notification kept blinking almost urging Linri to choose his pick. But he didn’t want to. The moment he made his choice it would mean he would have to kill Richard.
4- Do whatever is necessary according to your judgement; no hesitation
Linri’s hand had started to move. He wanted to stop himself but couldn’t. Everything was clear to him. In order to kill Leon he also had to kill Richard. If he didn’t kill Leon he would die himself. He needed to act according to his unclouded judgement.
This was something engraved into his bones. It was more akin to brainwashing. Just like in the third trial of the gods where he had to die over and over again, he didn’t have a choice in the matter. Back then he wanted to give up so much but his personal dogma did not allow him.
It was the same now. He didn’t want to kill Richard but in order to survive his personal dogma decreed that he had to die. And Linri’s hand finally touched the screen in front of him.
[Command received]
[Activating Ex-Burst: God of Twilight Descends: Sorcerer of Aguara Form]
