Legacy of the Betelgeuse - Chapter 325
I look at the sky and the ambient sound is really nerve-wracking, then I hear knocks on the door. I look out the window and see Aven and his friends are already here, I open the door for them and they’re all so nervous when they see me. I’m not sure why but it’s not something that I should be thinking about right now.
Aven looks at the cabin.
“Wow, so this is where Mister Trevor and the others were hanging out.”
I look at him and nod.
“Yeah, this is actually Grisell’s house and they thought this place was the most strategic place to build the house since players are passing by from Fjel Town to wherever they want. This used to be crowded with players because Ivonna and the others were helping newbies and giving them better equipment.”
The others are staring at Aven and they all nod at him, he nods back then looks at me.
“So, Mister Trevor, is there a reason why you want us to meet you here?”
I look at them and then point at the table.
“Why don’t you guys take a seat first? I will tell you guys the reason why.”
All of them sit down at the table while staring at each other.
I’m standing in front of the table while resting both of my hands.
“So, I believe you guys heard about what happened from Cecilia?”
All of them nod in agreement.
“Okay, do you know anything about the Segregate?”
Allen raises his hand and I look at him while nodding up.
“I heard a lot about it in the forum a while back, they were recruiting new players and helping them achieve anything they want in the easiest way. I’m not sure what that means but so many people were interested in that, and there were so many screenshots of players showing off the items and weapons that they got after they joined the Segregate.”
Allen is gently tapping the back of his hand onto his mouth.
“I remember that there’s a player that will hang out outside the Sarkh Village and they’re there to recruit newbies who are interested with the Segregate. I’m not sure if they’re still using that method but it’s worth checking it out if you want to, Mister Trevor.”
Zersan is looking at Allen with curiosity.
“How did you know all that, Allen?”
Allen looks at Zersan and tilts his head.
“Well, I kept reading the forum all day since I don’t have the pod to play the game, so I decided to check all the threads that might help me when I start playing the game.”
I look at the corner behind them.
“Can you check it for me, Avriel?”
All of them look back and they don’t see anyone in the corner but then Avriel comes out from the shadow and it’s enough to make them all astonished.
Avriel looks at me and nods with understanding.
“I have sent a few of my men to check the Sarkh Village the moment he said something about the Segregate. My men will notify me when they found something odd outside the village.”
I nod with understanding.
“I see, thank you.”
Avriel nods and then walks toward us, she stands next to me while staring at each one of them thoroughly. Her gaze is making them uncomfortable but since she’s beautiful they’re all having a mixed feelings toward her.
I look at Ilvia while raising my eyebrows.
“Do you know anything about the Segregate, Ilvia? You still helping newbies, right?”
Ilvia nods while playing with her thumbs.
“Yes, I heard about them once from one of the newbies. She said something about the Segregate is recruiting newbies and will reward them with high-quality health and stamina potions. She said that her friends joined the Segregate and they received at least 500 potions each type and a few other buff ransoms. Oh, also, I heard that the only requirement for them to join the Segregate is to become factionless.”
I raise my eyebrows with a surprised expression.
“So they’re not giving empty words? If they’re capable of giving freebies to newbies, then that means they really do want them to become strong. Now that I know why they made such a community, I think they want to build up forces to fight the Ophiuchus and take the throne.”
Aven furrows his forehead and looks at Halfaer.
“Ian, didn’t your friend say something about leaving the clan because he wanted to be factionless or something like that? Does that mean your friend is planning to join the Segregate?”
Halfaer is humming while crossing his arms and rubbing his chin.
“Hmm, I’m not sure because I haven’t asked the reason why. Let me ask him real quick…”
Halfaer is messaging his friend and then Aven looks at me while raising his hand.
“Is this the reason why you want us to meet you, Mister Trevor?”
I shake my head.
“There’s another reason, I want your help and find where this Segregate is at because there’s no information about where they hang out or where do they all gather around.”
All of them are surprised and Ilvia looks at me with confusion.
“You want us to find information about the Segregate?”
I shake my head.
“No, I want you guys to infiltrate and get information from the inside, but the thing that I’m afraid of is that you guys are already known to be supporting us the Ophiuchus and I don’t think they will let you join them. So, I’m asking you if there’s someone you know that might be able to join the Segregate without them noticing and find out who’s the leader of this organization.”
They’re all looking at each other and thinking who’s the best candidate for that but none of them have someone in mind. Aven asks Halfaer if his friend really is going to join the Segregate, Halfear says that his friend is indeed going to join the Segregate. Aven asks Halfaer if his friend wants to become our spy but Halfaer says that it’s impossible since his friend is interested in the Segregate.
I look at them while crossing my arms.
“So there’s none, huh? It’s fine, I think I will be able to find someone who’s suited for this job.”
Allen raises his hand and looks at me.
“What about me?”
We all look at him and then Aven raises his eyebrow.
“You? What makes you think that you will be able to join the Segregate?”
Allen is leaning on the table while smiling.
“I barely play because I have a lot of things to do in real life, and I think they won’t know if I’m close with you guys since most of the time I’m hunting and leveling on my or sometimes with my dad. Maybe me and my dad will be able to get something from those people? I bet my father would be interested in spying since he’s a hardcore fan of this kind of thing.”
Ilvia looks concerned.
“Are you about this? I mean, what you just said is true and there’s a high possibility that they won’t know anything about you, especially your dad. But are really sure that you want to involve your dad in this?”
Allen is grinning while giggling.
“Of course! Me and my dad will be the best spy in Orion!”
Avriel can’t hold her expression and then she chuckles because it sounds funny for her. Allen looks at Avriel and he gulps because he’s scared to see the legendary assassin in the game chuckling like that as if he just insulted her.
I rest my hands on the table while staring at the others.
“So, what do you guys think? I’m fine with Allen to become my spy but since he’s your friend, you might think otherwise.”
Aven sighs while leaning on the chair.
“We are talking about Allen, it’s impossible to talk some sense to him since he’s so stubborn so there will be no comment for me.”
The others are nodding in agreement, and so I look at all of them while raising my eyebrows.
“So, we are good?”
All of them nod and Allen looks so excited about this.
I look at him while smiling.
“Alright, let’s do this and I believe you have to leave the clan first. I will explain everything to Cecilia and she will understand.”
Allen nods and he immediately opens a screen tab to leave the clan without hesitation while I’m messaging Cecilia and explaining everything to her.
Avriel leans toward me and whispers into my ear.
“They have come back, they saw a guy hanging out outside the village, and I believe that person is the one.”
I nod with understanding and then look at them.
“It seems that the player who’s hanging out outside the Sark Village is there, should we try to approach him?”
They all nod in agreement and then Allen raises his hand.
“Mister Trevor! What do you want me to do when I manage to infiltrate the Segregate?”
I cross my arms while thinking.
“For now, how about you find out what are they planning during the invasion because I believe they have something in mind to make us fail on defeating Letrax.”
Allen is humming with understanding.
“Noted! I will do my best!”
I scoff and smirk.
“Alright, let’s pay a visit to the Sarkh Village.”
