Legacy of the Dark Sage - Chapter 919: All Hell Break Loose (15)
Deus had been so preoccupied with deciphering the Array Formation that he did not notice his active magic array already stopped producing puppets. Apart from that, the three automatons he summoned recently had also been destroyed, their remains lying among those that had fallen right on the surface of the Dimension below.
Only when he heard the silver humanoid dragon’s response to his remark did Deus realize that the former had intentionally not attacked him even after destroying all his creations because he was waiting for him to complete what he was doing.
Why?
Deus found the answer soon after, causing his mind to reel in utter disbelief.
The air around the silver humanoid dragon crackled as he raised his hand.
A crack then appeared, tearing the space right in front of him.
The scene before him was pretty much the same as what Deus did when he tried to bring our MEx-ε from his Dimensional Storage, except he had an inkling that the silver humanoid dragon was not trying to open a Dimensional Storage and bring forth something from inside.
However, Deus had no plans to find out what the silver humanoid dragon intended to do. Regaining his composure, he immediately waved his hand to cancel the magic array before him and roused his magic. He activated the Dimensional Storage and hastily brought forth MEx-ε 04.
“Capture him alive—!”
Deus’s eyes widened as the words he was about to say got caught in his throat. Because the scene before him changed. The crack, he initially believed, was similar to how one would activate a Dimensional Storage, widened as a great abyss peered from within.
“This—! Ngh…!”
Following that, a powerful suction force began to pull Deus and MEx-ε 04, which barely got its hand out of the Dimensional Storage.
Kyran’s reddish-purple eyes flickered as the fissure in front expanded. As it increased in size, both vertically and horizontally, its suction force also intensified.
“You! What is this magic? Are you not an offspring of a lesser dragon?” Deus shouted in fright.
That was right.
For the first time in a while, Deus felt frightened. Because no matter what he did, no matter how much magic energy he roused, he could not stop himself from being drawn into that abyss.
Kyran ignored the white-robed man’s rambling. He only focused on controlling and maintaining the fissure. Truth be told, there were plenty of ways how he could deal with the white-robed man.
One such way was that Kyran could beat him half to death by utilizing both his Draconic and Void magic— warping rather than using Dragon Steps to get close to the white-robed man while making full use of his body’s enhancement to beat him to a pulp. But doing this would take a while. After all, the white-robed man’s defenses were not something Kyran could overlook, especially since he was from the Higher Realm.
Besides, the white-robed man had a chance to take out more of his automatons if Kyran wasted his time using him as a punching bag. When that happened, they would only repeat the cycle of what they had been doing from the start of their confrontation— the former would summon his creations, while the latter would destroy them.
While Kyran’s body had been enhanced, allowing him to accommodate more of the Draconic magic energy in his body, he had yet to learn more of its uses. Thus, apart from multiplying his body’s strength and speed, molding his Draconic magic energy into dragon parts, or gathering his energy into concentrated magic attacks, there was nothing much he could do with it.
Another way to deal with the white-robed man was summoning a large Void Sphere, thus eradicating him and his creations altogether, completely.
But if Kyran did this, he would be destroying a very valuable piece of information.
Fortunately, Deus did not know that Kyran had already tagged him as such, or else, he would likely choose to detonate himself.
In any case, Kyran wanted to know who the white-robed man was working for. He also wanted to know more about the Higher Realm since he decided to consider Layla’s offer.
Considering this, Kyran chose the third way— absorb the white-robed man and look through his memories. Frankly, he would never consider doing this, especially after learning the latter was from the Higher Realm.
Absorbing a complete being had already put a huge toll on his body; what more if he absorbed someone from a different realm?
But seeing that the white-robed man also used the same Magic Law as the one in the Human plane, albeit having an undiscernible mage level, Kyran changed his mind. He wanted to take the risk. At most, he would have to endure the white-robed man’s resistance and suffer internal injuries— something that he was confident in overcoming after his body’s enhancement.
Armak, who was watching the scene below from the edge of an intact ceiling, felt goosebumps up his arms. Seeing the powerful suction force that pulled everything within five hundred meters of Kyran into that ever-growing fissure without knowing what would become of them was truly frightening. It made him wonder if he and Breira did not accept Kyran’s Sigil, would they end up being absorbed into that fissure as well?
With Deus drawing closer by the second into the mouth of the abyss, he decisively used one of his trump cards.
“AUTOMAS! ASSEMBLE!”
Deus’s staff emitted a blinding light, following which a surge of abstruse and ancient energy erupted from within him. A particular system code activated on all the automatons that came with him to Somuli.
Those few who arrived at the borders of Armakea and were surveying the battle that had only ended stopped in their tracks as the system code was activated.
Their whole body lit up as runes appeared on their foreheads.
If Kyran had been there, he would have recognized the rune as Teleport. But the rune was not written in Space runes— surprisingly, it was Void runes!
Gael, Kesiah, and the rest had already spotted the automatons and were under a lot of pressure.
Of course, they were unaware that the figures hovering above the Armakea border’s defensive array were automatons. Nevertheless, with them unable to determine their level, as well as who they were, left a huge pressure on them.
Were they friends? Or enemies?
That had been the question circulating in each one of them. However, after almost half an hour of observing them from above, these figures had not made a move.
Until they started to emit a golden glow with light purple sparks.
Gael, Kesiah, and the rest braced themselves, believing that those figures were about to engage them in battle. However, the attack did not come. Instead, the figures disappeared right after.
The same happened to MEx-δ 54’s group. They were still halfway to arriving in Larkring when their bodies glowed, and the Teleport rune appeared on their foreheads. After that, they also disappeared.
When they reappeared, all of them were in front of the massive fissure.
Before appearing, they had already understood the situation and were ready.
MEx-ε 04, who only had its hand out from the Dimensional Storage, suddenly rushed out, revealing its upper torso. After which, it reached out its arms and grabbed the top and bottom edges of the massive fissure. Letting out an inhuman howl, it then forcefully stopped the fissure’s expansion.
MEx-δ 54 and the rest of the MEx-δ series formed a circular formation in front of Deus. Their energy cores surged with the same abstruse and ancient energy. All of them formed the points of an icosagon, which then slowly formed into a defensive array.
However, the color of the array was not golden. It actually emitted a faint purplish glow!
When the defensive array appeared, the suction force from the massive fissure was greatly reduced.
Deus then smiled while looking at the silver humanoid dragon hovering just behind the massive fissure.
Kyran’s eyes narrowed after seeing the defensive array. Not only that, he had also seen the Teleport rune on the automatons’ forehead that had yet to disappear. Adding that up to the faint purple glow of their defensive array, Kyran finally understood why the magic energy was coming out from the white-robed man’s staff, and now his body appeared strange yet familiar.
“To think you actually can produce energy similar to Void magic.”
When Kyran spoke, he did not use a loud voice.
However, Deus heard him clearly. His smile widened as he tilted his head and mockingly said, “The crack you created just now… must have used the same concept as the Void. However, for someone in the Lower Realm to dare use such a move against me, who has the most knowledge of Ancient Magic in the Higher Realm… Arrogant!”
If not for the armor Kyran was wearing, Deus would have likely seen him wearing an awkward expression.
“Arrogant… I wonder, who’s the real arrogant one,” Kyran muttered as he stopped circulating Draconic magic completely and allowed the Void magic to reign.
His silver armor changed color, turning into dark purple as his magic energy rose.
