Legacy of the Dark Sage - Chapter 926: Stirring
Releasing the Shaiha’s concealment also meant removing its restraints in Kyran’s magic energy circulation.
Over the year after receiving the Shaiha, Kyran studied what it could do at every chance he could get. He would not be irresponsible and say that he was already familiar with it, but at least his understanding of its uses had improved.
The Shaiha’s ability to conceal Kyran’s aura was due to it keeping the flow of his magic energy within the confines of its walls. With the Shaiha keeping tabs on his magic energy’s flow, Kyran could accurately combine his two innate magic, resulting in a faster transition whenever he chose one of the two to circulate in his body primarily or have them both circulate in equal quantity or one being a dominant force.
From this, it was not a stretch to think the Shaiha acted as a warden over Kyran’s central core, allowing him to use his magic freely. However, it was because of this that the Shaiha had become one of Kyran’s major weaknesses.
This had already become apparent during Kyran’s encounter with the Macabre Glacier, where he almost lost control of his magic energy after the latter’s influence affected the Shaiha.
It should be noted that the Macabre Glacier was a magic weapon forged with Soul magic. Thus, it was easy for it to affect the souls of any mages. Kyran was no exception. Add that up to Soul Magic being Void Magic’s weakness; he was basically offering himself on a silver platter when he got too close to the mirror that time.
At present, with Kyran releasing the Shaiha’s concealment, allowing him to unleash the full extent of his magic aura, his whole body was engulfed by a dense magic energy.
The three pairs of eyes that appeared as cracks in space narrowed slightly as their glowing eyes saw the dense magic energy that covered Kyran.
Moreover, the dense magic energy started to resemble a gigantic human form. The form did not have any distinctive features and even appeared like a dense black and purple shadow, but its eyes glowed reddish purple, just like how Kyran does.
As Kyran’s magic aura erupted, several entities, whether they were keeping an eye on what was happening in Somuli or not, were shaken.
From another location that bordered the two realms, a floating lone patch of land with a visible cave on it shook as a dense black and red fog seeped out from within. At the heart of the fog, within the center of the cave, two reddish gold eyes snapped open.
It heaved out labored breaths as an ancient, sonorous voice reverberated around the floating lone patch of land.
“At long last… You have finally shown up. The long-awaited dream will soon be realized… All Ancient Cores will soon be made into one… with the Heart of the Cosmos at the center, the Realm will once again return….”
Somewhere in the Higher Realm, a plane that seemed to radiate with life and raw energy, all of its inhabitants looked up at a crack that appeared in the sky.
Inside the topmost room in a white tower, a man with long white hair, which was braided from the lower half and was wearing a strikingly embroidered golden robe, stood by the window. Around his head was a blinding light that obscured his features. Nevertheless, from the way he stood and carried himself, it was obvious that he had a very high mage level and position in that plane.
The man was also looking at the cracks that formed in the sky. But unlike the other inhabitants, who only felt something amiss because of the appearance of that crack, the man felt an ominous aura seeping out from it.
Behind the man, the space distorted as a young man in a similar golden robe but bearing a more simple embroidery appeared, kneeling on one knee.
“Your Majesty,” the young man greeted.
“Speak.”
“Overlord Deus has sent an urgent message.”
As the young man said this, he raised both hands and offered a disc, which was made of diamond at its core, while almost half an inch of its borders were made of gold.
The man, whom the young man called ‘Your Majesty,’ was none other than the Emperor who had given Deus in order to capture the image suspected to be in possession of the Heart of the Cosmos.
The Emperor looked away from the sky to look at the young man at the corner of his eyes. With the wave of his hand, the disc on the latter’s hand flew right at him.
He raised his hand and let the disc hover above it as he read through Deus’s message inside the disc.
The young man remained on his knee, with arms outstretched as he awaited for further instructions. However, after almost a minute upon taking the disc, the Emperor remained silent.
Not wanting to offend the Emperor, the young man remained in his position and kept his head lowered. But then, he realized that the light inside the room seemed to intensify.
Before the young man could even wonder why that was, he felt a scorching pain seep into his robes, and that was when he realized he was already caught in a fire.
‘This…!’
The young man frantically roused his magic to reinforce his robe’s enhancements, but to no avail.
“Y-Your Majesty!”
In the moment of panic, the young man could no longer hold it in and exclaimed in fright as he looked at the Emperor.
The Emperor was forced out of his contemplation and realized he had allowed his anger to manifest into the real world. He immediately stabilized his emotions before looking over at the young man who delivered Deus’s message. Seeing the golden flames that had already engulfed the young man, the Emperor waved his hand at once. The golden flames vanished, saving the young man before he was roasted alive.
Frankly, if not for the golden robe’s fire enhancements, he would have been roasted in a matter of seconds after being exposed to the Emperor’s golden flames.
“That is not intended,” the Emperor immediately told the young man. “Go to the Imperial Alchemy and have your wounds treated at once.”
This was as far as an apology the young man would receive from the Emperor. The former did not mind, however. The person before him was the most powerful and important figure in the Higher Realm. Compared to the Emperor, who was he to show any discontent over what happened? Having kept his life was already a good thing.
“Thank you, Your Majesty.”
With that, the young man left the Emperor to his own thoughts.
As soon as the young man left, the Emperor’s emotions, which he had kept in check, exploded once more.
The whole room erupted in golden flames as he crushed the disc in his hand.
“Again… once again, you are trying to test my patience… You have once slipped out of my hands, and now that you have appeared… you actually chose someone from that clan…!”
The Emperor’s anger could not be contained. Fortunately, the room where he was in was created to allow him to vent during such a situation.
Looking out the window once more while he was covered in golden flames, the Emperor looked at the crack in the sky and knew that the reason it had appeared was because TheRealm had started to stir once more.
Back in Somuli, the moment Kyran unleashed enough of his aura, he raised his hand toward the three sets of eyes. His action was replicated by the gigantic silhouette that encompassed him.
Crackling sounds reverberated throughout the plane as Kyran tore through space.
The light emitted by the three sets of eyes dimmed slightly after seeing Kyran truly capable of tearing through the space and going after them.
Realizing this fact, the red runes that continued to fall from the sky stopped as the unevenly squared lines slowly retreated upward. This was soon followed by the pressure coming from the three to ease, as well.
“Cause of the interference located…
“Unable to identify the interference’s origin…
“No fix available… The anomaly cannot be remedied.”
After saying these words, one after another, the three sets of eyes closed, with the pair at the center closing at the last moment.
But.
“Who said you can go?”
Kyran raised one finger and pointed at the nearly closed eyes of the last pair at the center. A mass of concentrated Void energy flashed out from his fingertip and pierced one of the eyes from the last pair.
As it did, an unearthly wail resounded, shaking not just the Somuli plane, but also the whole Lower Realm.
In the end, the pair of eyes still closed, and time in Somuli started to flow once more.
With time gradually returning to normal, Flos and Obstruction’s head fell, signaling the end of their lives.
Following this, cracks appeared on Obstruction’s body as several lights flew out and returned to the underground shelter.
