Legacy of the Dark Sage - Chapter 953: Decision (2)
Ames shook her head in objection at Kyran’s idea.
“If you do that, you will draw up too much attention. Even if you manage to convince them the Dragon Lord and the Void Master are two different people, you might end up biting more than you can chew when a situation crop up where you need to be in two places at the same time.”
Kyran did not try to refute Ames because she had a point.
When it came to deploying capable high-leveled mages in several locations in the Lower Realm, the Higher Realm had the advantage. They also appear to have their own system of monitoring planes without being detected. The latter was only Kyran’s speculation, but it was something that he considered, given how he was attacked the first time without even detecting the latter’s presence until it was already too late.
Compared to what the Higher Realm mages could do, Kyran only had his Void magic to speak of when it came to moving around the Lower Realm. If he ended up missing even one step at what he wanted to do, he would end up— as Ames phrased it— biting more than he could chew if a situation where he needed to be in two places at the same time occurred.
In the end, Kyran said, “I only need them to think a new Dragon Lord and a new Void Master has appeared in the Lower Realm. I am not going to risk exposing myself directly to them.”
Ames frowned and slightly opened her mouth to refute Kyran again. But as she tried to form words of reason in her head, she realized she could not come up with one. Ultimately, she closed her mouth and continued to look at him displeased.
“Besides, news of a new Dark Sage and a Void Master has been circulating in the Lower Realm for some time now. All that’s left is to circulate news about a new Dragon Lord.”
What Kyran said was true. News of him being the successor of the Dark Sage as well as the Void Master had been circulating as early as when he was still under the Tower of Tribulation’s training regime. As for news of a new Dragon Lord, he believed it would only be a matter of time before the Sovereigns who had been in Somuli and had heard or even witnessed the appearance of the silver humanoid dragon would start to speculate his identity as the Dragon Lord.
The only thing Kyran was unsure of was whether the Sovereigns of the Lower Realm were aware that a Dragon Lord had existed in the past. As far as he was concerned, the First Dragon Lord had never left the Human plane. But if it happened that the Sovereigns did know of his existence in the past, coming up with a story on how a new one had appeared in Somuli would be tricky.
Then again, the previous Void Master managed to make his existence known outside the Human plane because he stumbled upon the Tower of Tribulations and entered its training regime. This allowed him to visit several planes and make a name for himself. That was also how he met the original Dark Sage and ended up inheriting his title and possessions.
Thinking about this, Kyran considered using this as the same excuse as to why the Dragon Lord had appeared in Somuli.
In any case, all of those things were things for the future. If the Sovereigns failed to spread speculations that the silver humanoid dragon could be the Dragon Lord, then it would not matter whether Kyran came up with a background story of how he existed.
In the end, Ames could only sigh in resignation, “Fine. I’ll also let Father know about your plan.”
Kyran looked at Ames as he recalled a memory he got after absorbing Deus’s strange essence. “The Dragon Clan might face a big problem because of what you did to that woman.”
Kyran’s statement appeared vague to others, but Ames understood it. She looked at him with raised brows as she asked, “How did you know about that? I don’t remember telling you what I did.”
“I saw Deus’s memories.”
Ames scowled and fell silent. After a while, she replied, “Don’t worry about it. The Dragon Clan is not that weak to falter in fear of The Emperor’s retaliation.”
“Hmm… Your words just now kind of contradicted your stance a moment ago.”
“Humph,” Ames only snorted in response.
For the record, the two of them had their own discussion while the others continued with theirs in the background.
Kyran, though busy studying the tablet’s copies, still tried to listen in on their discussion.
Others would probably have trouble dividing their attention, but not Kyran. Of course, that did not mean he could register everything. At most, he could follow the flow of their conversation.
At the moment, Akim and Kesiah were on top of things with regard to unifying the three nations of the complete beings. Their next step was to open a negotiation with the Beast-likes.
Kyran allowed them to continue while he kept his opinions to himself. To be honest, he was far more interested in understanding his current military strength.
There was also the matter of the magical beasts. Thus far, the three magical beasts under him had more or less unified the Magical Beast Community. However, they did not include those under Chrysanthemum’s leadership. They were all Spirits and had their own group.
Kyran made a mental note of each of his Servants and Sigils. Then, he noted those he marked and planned to mark after everything had settled.
The Armakea Knights were one of those groups he wanted to join because their capabilities were on par with the Regis Clan members. The only downside of the latter was their mage levels.
Speaking of mage levels, Kyran planned to bring the Regis Clan to Somuli and see if their mage levels would improve after a few years’ time. If that happened, he would no longer be afraid of others bullying his clan, even if he went out of the grid at times.
Apart from these things, there was also the proposal Layla had offered to Kyran. He had not given her an answer yet, but because of how the situation in Somuli had developed, it was no brainer that he would have to visit the Higher Realm as well. Whether he assisted Layla in her plans was still under discussion, but he definitely had to go there.
Kyran heaved a deep sigh as he realized there were far too many things he had to settle. He had thought once the matter in Somuli was resolved, he would have fewer things to think about. He did not expect it to actually increase rather than decrease.
‘I have to sort everything in the next few days. After that, I have to convince Axil to show me the tablets in person…’ Kyran thought. His eyes then drifted toward Cyneah, who just happened to turn her head toward his direction.
Although Cyneah appeared to be silently listening to the discussion between the others, Kyran knew she was also observing the discussion that transpired between him and Ames. They did not speak aloud so as not to disturb the ongoing discussion. But because Cyneah was seated near Kyran, add that to her very keen sense of hearing; it would not be a surprise if she heard everything.
Kyran heaved another sigh, albeit inwardly this time.
Cyneah did not show it on her face, but Kyran could sense her trepidation. She was probably concerned about some of the things that she heard.
In the end, Kyran decided to assure her by subtly taking her hand in his and giving it a gentle squeeze.
At first, Cyneah did not respond. But after a while, she clasped her hand on his as well.
The discussion went on for hours. When most of the things had been settled, the meeting was dismissed, and everyone went on to do their things.
Euan returned to the Kingdom of Cretea with Nachum. At the same time, Akim, Kesiah, and the others in Armakea prepared to sort everything so they could return to the Eidum’s borders as soon as possible.
As for the Knights, a few wanted to meet Kyran in person before deciding whether to join him by becoming his Sigil or receiving a mark. At the same time, some decided to remain in Armakea to serve under Ravan.
Initially, Filren believed that Mo would have wanted to serve Ravan rather than join Kyran and become a Sigil. To Filren’s surprise, Mo was the first one to ask to meet Kyran in person.
The reorganization of Armakea was underway. As expected, Ravan was voted to become the new King.
Meanwhile, the excavation of the automatons that got buried underground when the Armakea Castle was destroyed was also underway. Their target was to get all of the automatons out in one week and transport them to the Eidum’s border.
