Legacy of the Dark Sage - Chapter 970: The Cause of the Fall (3)
True Void was the first to sense something was amiss when his connection with Kyran suddenly weakened. He immediately informed Ames, who immediately used her Dragon’s Eye to search the Kingdom of Cretea, where Kyran was supposed to have gone.
Ames failed to locate Kyran in the end, which was why she tried to widen her search range. Apart from using her Dragon’s Eye, she also utilized her Draconic Sense to enhance her sight. Still, no matter where she searched, she could not find a trace of Kyran’s magic signature.
Only after True Void confirmed that Ames was trying to search for Kyran by locating his magic signature did he reprimand her, reminding her of the Shaiha in Kyran’s possession.
Ames’s mistake would have been seen as funny if not for the fact that the connection between Kyran and True Void was growing weaker by the second.
For the record, the crackling sound in the sky that shook the whole land of the Kingdom of Cretea was not seen nor felt by the other nations. This was why Ames and True Void, who were in the Land of the Eidums, did not know that something big had happened.
True Void then asked Neo to contact Nahir. But Neo did not need to be asked by True Void because his weakening connection with Kyran became apparent at this point.

Neo initially ignored the feeling because his master’s presence seemed to fleet in and out of existence at times due to the Shaiha. As Kyran’s creation, Neo had a different kind of connection with him that the Shaiha could not completely conceal. However, depending on Kyran’s will, the Shaiha could affect it, concealing his aura completely.

For this reason, Neo did not think it was strange for his master’s presence to disappear.
It was only after not sensing his master’s presence for more than five hours that Neo started to think there was something wrong. He could understand not sensing his master’s presence if they were planes apart. But his master only went to the Kingdom of Cretea.
Why would his presence disappear for more than five hours and was still counting?
In any case, before True Void could have Neo call on Nahir, Cyneah had already contacted them.
Only after she called did they learn that something was happening outside Somuli.
Soon after that, Kryan’s Servants started to feel restless. Unlike Kyran’s Sigils, who could only sense Kyran’s presence when within range, his Servants, being people reborn from the Void, felt their very existence was in danger. Thus, those who could meet True Void went to look for him, while those who were far away, more specifically, Akim and others still in Armakea, could only connect with them through a communication device.
Neo could create a transmission array and have his master’s Servants come to the Land of the Eidums, but because the latter lot could not leave their post in Armakea without prior notice, they settled on connecting with them through the communication device. In the end, Neo only created a transmission for Cyneah and Euan to use and return to the Land of the Eidums.
Not long after Cyneah and Euan arrived in the Land of the Eidums and met up with Ames, True Void, and the rest of the Servants, Nachum arrived with Alastor.
The moment Nachum arrived, with someone exuding a profound aura, the group immediately guessed that their appearance was connected with their ever-weakening connection with Kyran.
Nachum initially planned to go to the Kingdom of Cretea because that was the last known location of Kyran. He also wanted to ask Cyneah’s assistance to connect with Kyran’s people. But before entering the premises of the kingdom, he noticed Cyneah’s presence disappearing.
Nachum was surprised at first. But then he sensed traces of transmission array around the spot, where he sensed Cyneah had been being used, and knew she activated an array at once, probably to return to the Land of the Eidums.
From this, Nachum was able to glean that Cyneah likely sensed something was amiss and went back to the Land of the Eidums to confide with Kyran’s people.
With this in mind, Nachum changed direction and went to the Land of the Eidums.
At present, Nachum and the others were gathered inside the conference hall of the Academy’s main building. Everyone was seated before a huge round table, looking at a projection of Somuli’s plane hovering at the center.
The one who created the projection was not Nachum but Alastor, and there were figures, albeit too small to be properly distinguished, reenacting what had happened before Kyran escaped and fled from The Emperor.
Cyneah’s expression remained indifferent, but inwardly, she could not help but curse her inability to see. Although Alastor’s projections were made of magic energy, it was unfortunate that she could not make out any of it.
As if sensing her internal chagrin, Euan, who was seated by her side, took her hand in his and relayed what he could see through telepathy.
The sudden burst of vivid images caught Cyneah off guard. But realizing what her father was doing, she felt gratified and, though feeling a little shy, gently squeezed his hand in thanks.
Euan squeezed her hand back as if to assure her it was fine. Nevertheless, he was inwardly happy that he could at least help his own daughter.
What Euan was doing was not something anyone could have done. The only way for one to relay things one could see was if they shared a certain type of bond. In their case, it was possible because they were blood-related.
Apart from that, the person who executed the relay would greatly impact his or her mental fatigue. Thus, it was not advised to be used for long.
Cyneah more or less guessed this was the case, which was why she subtly sent her magic energy to her father and relieved him from his mental fatigue.
“I could have followed them, but I reckoned my speed is not enough to keep up with them,” Alastor admitted. Besides, when Kyran started to flee, Alastor was still busy negating The Emperor’s golden rays directed at him. If he ignored them, those rays would hit Somuli’s barrier. Knowing of the penetrative capabilities of The Emperor’s magic, Alastor knew Somuli’s barrier would not be able to hold, and once it shattered and one of The Emperor’s golden ray magic attacks entered the plane and landed, it would have caused a devastating impact.
Innocent lives dying was not the worst case to happen when The Emperor’s magic attack hit, but the Somuli plane’s vitality. That was how powerful his magic’s penetrative capability was.
“In any case, I beseeched your assistance,” Alastor continued while turning his attention to Ames.
Upon meeting these people, Alastor immediately noticed Ames’s identity. He might have been staying in the Lower Realm for the most part, but he was still up to date on the current happenings there. For this reason, he recognized Ames as the Dragon Emperor’s daughter.
“I know you are worried about making a move yourself, which will likely endanger the Dragon Clan, but you do not have to worry. I will ask a few of my colleagues to assist and conceal your identity.”
Ames shook her head and said, “I am not afraid of revealing my identity to The Emperor. I think he already knew I got involved with the capture of the Heart of the Cosmos. I will not be surprised if his coming here at this very moment meant he ordered his people to go after my clan.”
Alastor’s pursed his lips at Ames’s words. That was likely the case. Though he had yet to hear any news in the Higher Realm, The Emperor coming to the Lower Realm directly was likely because he already knew the Dragon Clan had gotten themselves involved in his plan.
There was also a possibility that The Emperor knew Ames was the one who went to the Lower Realm from how Midnight’s essence was destroyed. Knowing that few mages under his command could fight Ames and complete the task of capturing their target, The Emperor decided to come and deal with the matter himself.
The Emperor would have then sent his forces to the Dragon Clan to ensure that the Dragon Emperor could not send reinforcement to assist Ames.
“I cannot deny that possibility,” Alastor agreed. “Nonetheless, we have to do something. Previously, your Dragon Clan was never keen on using the Heart of the Cosmos, which was why the Dragon Emperor went here, to the Lower Realm, and hid it. This alone proves that you are here to protect the Heart of the Cosmos in that human this time as well and prevent The Emperor from acquiring it.”
“It would have been great if it was as simple as that,” Ames replied with a heavy sigh.
“What does that mean?”
Instead of answering Alastor, Ames looked at True Void, who had turned himself into armor worn by Neo.
“I can vouch for the Coven’s trustworthiness. But what do you think? Do we tell him the truth?”
Alastor was somewhat confused that Ames would want to seek the approval of a young man… no, wait. This young man was not even alive per se. He was an automaton!
Alastor not sensing True Void’s presence was thanks to Neo using array formation to camouflage it. In addition, the Sovereign’s Cradle restricted the former’s mage level and capabilities.
Nachum might have approved Alastor’s entry to the plane, but that did not totally exempt him from the restrictions.
“At this point, with the Void Halfling’s safety on the line, there is nothing to gain if we withhold information,” True Void replied with a sigh.
