Legend of an Asurian Warrior - Chapter 59:Rescue mission
“It’s been quite a while. Do you think something happened to him?” asked Abigail. She, Alcie, and William were sat at the kitchen table. Alcie and Abigail were drinking coffee but William decided to go for a glass of whiskey … three glasses. Abigail looked at William who slammed down the glass in his hand and picked up the bottle of whiskey to refill.
“That stupid bastard isn’t of our concern. This has happened before … give it a week and he’ll turn up out of nowhere to kill another bunch of people. Hey, if we’re lucky he won’t come back at all.” said William. Abigail threw her mug of coffee at William who made it stop in it’s tracks and fall onto the table with a stern look.
“If you haven’t already realised, both me and Alcie care about James! Sure, he may have been involved in Cynthinia’s death but he wasn’t the one who actually killed her! We all know what happened. So stop being so selfish, and lets figure out where he is.” said Abigail.
Alcie set down her mug and let out a sad sigh.
“There’s no need. I know where he is. And who took him.” she said.
“What do you mean who took him?” asked William setting the glass of whiskey down.
“Macull, second son of the omni-god. He’s the one currently in possession of ‘The Book’. He’s been writing out our lives as if it was his own story to create a perfect weapon. James.” explained Alcie
“When you say ‘The Book’, you don’t mean the book of the original destroyer do you?” asked William. Abigail sat quietly.
“Who’s The Author?” asked Abigail.
“Think of it as a tier system. Us mortal beings are quite low bottom tier. The gods and goddesses are low mid tier. The omni-god and the original destroyer are high mid tier. And the author … can’t be ranked. They are the one who created every dimension and the universes that are inside them. They gifted each god with their powers by giving them some of their own.” Alcie paused in realisation.
“What? What’s the matter?” asked Abigail.
“We need to get to him. NOW!” shouted Alcie. She got up and went to leave.
“WAIT! Geez, you really are impatient. Look, Me and Jasmine have already planned to work together and recover our celestial weapons. Once we do that then you, me, Jack and whoever else can go do a rescue mission. BUT FOR NOW, you two are going to stay here with the others and help these people. Understood!?” ordered William.
Meanwhile, on the island floating in space.
James, running through a self made assault course, leaped over to wooden panel and fired pulse of kinetic energy at the target. He barely managed to stop the pulse from continuing before swinging around a tree and firing five blades at another target. He had ditched his robe leaving him topless and just in some red shorts. The sweat poured off of him as five hours of constant training began to take it’s toll. His aim was off by centimetres and his weapon summoning was slower than before. James continued as he thought about the Zamerium flowing through his blood. Another prolonged pulse of kinetic energy fired at the ground propelled James into the air and he clapped his hands together. Three swords appeared before him and he kicked them at the next three targets. Hit, hit, and miss.
The Zamerium may keep him from exploding and destroying the universe but it also prevented him from using his full power. Not that he wanted to use it. He landed and slammed his hand into the ground bringing red spikes out of the ground around him. He flashed back to the fight with Okubi and how he was unable to save Cynthinia from his own attack. This attack.
In a flash of rage, James fired all of the spikes at a row of targets; obliterating them. One spike flew past the targets and straight towards Samantha watching from behind a tree. The spike whizzed past her neck and out into the endless expanse of space. Samantha watched as it disappeared from view and turned back to see James picking up his stuff and leaving without a word. She ran after him and grabbed his arm to stop him. James quickly threw her to the ground and burst into red flames.
“LEAVE ME ALONE!” yelled James. One eye showed fiery anger while the other showed fear and sadness. “I don’t want it to take control.” The flames dispersed,James turned again, and continued walking back to his room. All the way back a winged beast loomed over him. Waiting to take control once more.
