Legend Of The Perfect Emperor - Chapter 38
Tian Yi silently entered the crowd gathered in front of the Jade Phoenix’s Auction House followed by Meng Xiang.
“Excuse me, senior. I have heard that you can buy things here, but what about selling? Can you sell your things here?” He asked the wealthily dressed middle-aged man beside him.
The middle-aged man in expensive robes looked at Tian Yi’s ordinary face, then his common-looking robes and sneered in disdain. “Have you never heard of an auction house before? And where do you think you are at? The Jade Phoenix’s Auction House is not a place where you can sell your everyday trash!” he said to Tian Yi who didn’t know why he was being so unfriendly, aggressive even.
“I I understand. Excuse me for bothering you.”
Tian Yi walked away from the middle-aged man, still confused as to why that man was being so aggressive towards his approach.
‘Am I not understanding something here? Is there a certain way to approach people in the outside world?’ He pondered.
The humble attitude he has been displaying throughout the past few days could be considered a whole new character when compared to the attitude he would have at home. However, because he was tired of being so what he sees as rude he decided to be more humble and friendly when interacting with others.
‘Father said that if you want people to respect you, you must first show them respect. But that is far from the truth. I have been polite to everybody I’ve talked to so far, but most of them return my respect with rudeness. The outside world is definitely not as I had imagined’ he sighed inwardly.
Tian Yi then walked to the front of the crowd where a group of beautiful young ladies blocked them from getting closer to the door of the Jade Phoenix’s Auction House.
“The Jade Phoenix’s Auction House is not opened for another hour,” said one of the young ladies as she stood in front of him, blocking his path.
“Ah, I apologize. I am trying to sell a few things here and I was wondering who I have to talk to for that to happen.” Tian Yi explained to her.
“You have something to sell to us?” The young ladies all looked at him, their gaze attracted by his white robes that seemed awfully familiar.
White robes are commonly used in this world, especially those who liked to look clean, but the young ladies could somehow sense that there was something different about his robes.
Although Tian Yi’s white robes were common-looking, if one looked closely at the silky sash around his waist, they could see the silver words ‘Sacred Heaven’s Temple’ flawlessly sewed onto it. However, due to the white surrounding it, it was very hard to notice the silver words.
“Ah! You’re also a follower?!” One of the young ladies who noticed it first gasped in surprise.
“Eh?” Tian Yi was puzzled for a moment before realizing what her words meant.
“Senior sisters are also followers of the Sacred Heaven’s Temple?” Tian Yi asked, his eyes with clear surprise.
“Of course!” The young lady who noticed his sash first pulled out a medallion from her robes and showed it to him.
“Tada!” she said.
The words ‘Heaven’s Follower’ was clearly engraved onto the medallion.
“…” Tian Yi was speechless. He wasn’t aware of the fact that the Sacred Heaven’s Temple influence was not just limited to the Qing Shan City but other places as well.
“Are senior sisters also from Qing Shan City?” he asked them. “Is that why you are also a part of the Sacred Heaven’s Temple?”
“No, you silly.” They all giggled, attracting the gazes of many males with their enchanting sound.
“The headquarter of the Sacred Heaven’s Temple is located in Qing Shan City, but the following itself spreads all across the Nine Heavens!”
“What?! All across the Nine Heavens?!” Tian Yi was truly shocked upon learning that fact. He has that many followers? How was that even possible? As far as he knew, he was infamous for the chaos he caused during the first and only time he appeared in public!
“Come, we can talk inside.”
Tian Yi nodded and followed her into the red building along with Meng Xiang as the crowd outside stared with wide eyes, especially the expensively dressed middle-aged man Tian Yi talked to at first.
They were all wondering why he was given access to the building while the rest of them, rich nobles, all had to wait outside. What was the difference between him and them? Are they not people with high status, too?
“Who was that kid and why did he gain entrance before all of us?” asked one of them who was clearly annoyed that he, a noble, was ignored when some peasant-looking kid got the special treatment.
The young ladies looked at the speaker with a frown. “That’s my boyfriend!” she said with an annoyed tone, and the noble nearly coughed up a mouthful of blood.
“Y-Your boyfriend?” The nobles wanted to start cursing at her, but because of her background and the place they were at, nobody there dared to open their mouth.
Despite being just entrance maids, they have the Jade Phoenix’s Auction, the largest marketing behemoth in the Qing Shan Continent, House behind their backs, allowing their status to raise higher than even nobles!
“Yeah! He’s my boyfriend, so he gets to go in early! What are you going to do about it, fight me?!”
The nobles could feel their blood surging up their throats; they were barely able to hold it back.
Fight her? Even if they can kill her with a finger, who would dare do it in front of the Jade Phoenix’s Auction House?! Not even those with balls of steel would dare!
The nobles were all angry, but none of them dared to speak up. Little did they know that most followers of the Sacred Heaven’s Temple unconditionally treat each other like brothers and sisters even if they have only just met.
