Legendary Sword God Sect - Chapter 207
“I’ll follow you, but I expect something in return.” The dragon, Colin said,
“Oh, what is it that you want from me?” Even though Nightin was anxious to get out of this place after getting all four guardians to join him, he still kept his composure.
“I need strength that exceeds my peak. For revenge.” Colin said coldly, his killing intent rampaging in the room.
Silver was trapped in here with the intention of taking revenge. The same went for Colin. If that’s the case, could the monkey king and fourth guardian have been trapped here for the same reason?
“Main quest has been triggered!”
[Details: Figure out the identity of the mysterious being that contained the four guardians here]
[Reward: God rank movement skill, Broken Moon]
God rank movement skill? Nightin was excited and even though he concealed it, Colin could see the flash of excitement in his eyes.
Colin might have lost his strength, but his ability to study the actions and behaviour of others still remain sharp. That was something all ancient beings have in common, it was a necessary step of growth before one steps into the ladder of pinnacle experts.
This was the reason why Colin was being wary of Nightin. There were only a few people he met which he couldn’t see through his entire lifetime including those past brothers of his, but the youth was actually that good at concealing his own actions as well.
He might have slipped up once, but it was so minor that even most experts wouldn’t have caught it.
“You need strength? That was one of the offers I had in mind for you.” Nightin said confidently.
[Quest progress for the four guardians: 2/4]
“Aren’t you afraid that I might turn against you one day?” Colin asked, only to realise that his attempt had once again failed.
Right now, he was on the weaker side compared to a youth.
“I have my own means and methods to be sure that you won’t betray me. Just a word of advice before you join me. Don’t ever let the thought of betrayal rise up in your heart or I’ll be taking immediate action.”
Colin once again couldn’t understand just where Nightin’s confidence was coming from. Sighing, he assured solemnly.
“That day won’t ever come. I just hope that you’ll keep your promise.” Looking into Nightin’s eyes, Colin looked out for any form of hesitance.
“Of course.” Nightin replied shortly before adding on, “Let your guard down for a moment.”
Colin didn’t understand Nigthin’s intentions, but still did as advised and lowered his guard for a moment, alarmed when he felt himself being transported somewhere else.
When Colin opened his eyes again, he realized that he was currently standing at the edge of a cliff. The brown clouds and smoky sky above him. The fine sand and sparkling oasis beneath him. It was the environment he longed to return to, the first and only place he called home.
“The dragon of abomination. I hereby swear to make you suffer the pain of losing your loved ones and home one day.” Colin said coldly and even though his face didn’t show it, the killing intent couldn’t lie.
“From now on, what do I address you as?” After some time passed, Colin regained his composure and returned to the main topic which should have been settled earlier on.
“You can just call me young master, any other form of address would just sound weird.” Nightin answered before adding on a simple explanation. Even though Colin might only be a subordinate of his, this was his way of showing simple respect.
What he wants aren’t a bunch of subordinates that follow him for certain reasons, but a small group of them that follow him heart willingly.
It seems that when I return to the sect, it’s time for a revamp.
“Young master, is this the cultivation ground that you’ll be allowing me to use from now on?” Colin asked, half doubtful of the answer.
When he sensed around, he realised that the amount of spirit energy was extremely concentrated and even when compared to the cultivation grounds he had back then, it still held an edge over it.
“Of course, but I’ll need you to lower your guard again.”
Hearing what Nightin instructed him to do, Colin did so without the slightest hesitation this time. His breathing slowed down and his eyes closed, finding tranquility in his mind for the first time in these thousands of years.
When Colin felt a breeze brushing against his skin, he opened his eyes and was surprised to see an open area. The spirit energy concentration here might not be as concentrated as the personal space he was in, but it was definitely worth his attention as well.
The place itself seemed modern with the chairs and tables laid out on cobblestone grounds and everything was arranged neatly.
“Silver, did you do all this while I was away?”
Hearing Nightin call Silver, Colin’s mind blanked out for a moment. In his mind, his thought process was already running wild.
Has the youth standing before him already conquered that fox? It was at this time that Colin realized he actually lost a portion of his memories. He knew Silver before even being sealed in here.
“Hey, have we met somewhere before this?” Silver asked as she appeared, sitting on one of the chairs.
Leaning back, she crossed her legs. Her eyes were studying Colin like an experimental object, something which might lead her to amazing discoveries.
“You have seen me before this?” Colin asked in return as he took a seat on the chair as well, his eyes studying Silver as well.
Just what in the world is going on between the four guardians, did they know each other before arriving in this trails of the star search route? Were they captured or sealed here with false memories?
Nightin may have his own guesses, but he wasn’t able to ascertain them until he clears the three trials at the very least.
I got to speed up. That was his intention as he politely requested of Silver to explain everything to Colin.
When he left, a portal appeared before his eyes as he stepped into it, only recalling that he had yet to check with Colin just what was his purpose as the third guardian of the three trails combined.
Soon, the third trial began and he appeared before a palace. The palace was no different from the ones he had once seen in those historical books, it was simple and even though high quality material was used, it was still pure.
Before him was a flight of stairs and without any hesitation, he stepped onto the first step.
Vroom!
Without any forewarning, he felt a chilling cold penetrating his body. It made him shudder for a moment, but it was soon fine after he protected his body with some flames.
“Yo, it seems that you have the potential to challenge the hundred steps of heaven and hell. Can you make it out alive?” A young voice said into the array which had surrounded the area.
Looking around for a moment, he realised that the young guardian who spoke was being wary of him. Ignoring him, he continued to make his way up the second step.
Yet right when his foot was about to touch the second step, the same tender voice stopped him. “Do you really not hear me?”
Nightin broke out a smile and replied, “Young guardian, I would just do my job if I were you.”
Ignoring the young guardian who was insistent on getting a response from him, he stepped onto the second platform and realized that it was extreme heat this time.
Replacing the flames on his body with some wind, he felt cooling at once and made it out of the illusion realm immediately. Arriving within the third illusion, he realised that it was another land of ice, the test was already clear.
Fifty layers of heat and cold respectively and if he wants to make it into the palace to clear this trail, then he must show his sheer determination and will to accomplish a goal.
“A test of my willpower? I’ve done that too many times.” In an arrogant laughter, he walked out of the third and fourth illusionary realm immediately.
These illusionary realms are too weak for me, but they would be beneficial towards the sect. Instead of spending his effort on clearing the last part of the three trials, Nightin actually spent most of his effort thinking about methods to create a similiar training ground in the Nirvana sect.
