Let’s Grow Old Together When You’ve Matured - Chapter 52
Chapter 52: Under Attack from all Quarters
Ji Xiaonian who stood at the side was dumbfounded as she watched Lu Yifei puking on the ground.
She remembered that she, too, had fallen out of love today. It was a really awful feeling!
As if experiencing his pain, she walked over to hug Lu Yifei and started crying.
“That’s right, men are the worst, especially men of power. That man that jilted you is a b*stard and I curse for him to never find happiness in his life. Don’t cry, Yifei, I’m sure someone better than him will come along in the future and treasure you. Shall we go home now?”
She was in pain and needed to be comforted too.
However, looking at the strong Lu Yifei who discarded his reputation and started weeping by the street, all because of loving another person from his own sex, she could not help but sympathize with him.
Ji Xiaonian wanted to bring him home and console him.
Lu Yifei raised his head and looked at the little girl with his red puffy eyes. Upon receiving the kindness from the girl, he could not help but wondered why that man could be so cold and heartless?
“Let’s go, and we can talk about it when we get home. Aren’t you ashamed of being like this in the streets?” Yu Shengjie stated as he approached him.
After a long time, Lu Yifei managed to stand up and was escorted back to the Ji Residence by Ji Xiaonian and Yu Shengjie.
Ji Xiaonian asked Lu Yifei about the breakup but he was reluctant to reveal the identity of the other man.
There was nothing much that she could do if he was not ready to share, hence she could only try her best to comfort the man.
…
The next day. Monday.
Lu Yifei, Yu Shengjie, and Ji Xiaonian needed to attend classes at Ning University.
Yu Shengjie had always been an early riser. After he was done preparing breakfast, he saw Lu Yifei coming down the stairs, but there was no sign of Ji Xiaonian.
“Go and get Niannian, she has class this morning,” he ordered Lu Yifei.
Yu Shengjie was able to recite Ji Xiaonian’s schedule fluently. He could not help himself but take great care of everything related to the little girl.
Lu Yifei understood and turned around to head back upstairs. As if he was reminded of something else, he stopped abruptly and shifted his attention back at Yu Shengjie.
“Do you know what happened to me?” Lu Yifei questioned.
Yu Shengjie lowered his gaze and pondered for a moment. He had sort of guessed what the other person was trying to say. “Do you mean Brother Ji Chen?” he replied.
Startled, Lu Yifei said, “You knew about it, didn’t you?”
“Eh, it’s just a wild guess. Don’t take it the wrong way.” Before that, he had noticed that this man always regarded Brother Ji Chen with a different kind of tenderness in his eyes. Who knew that a massive secret existed between those two.
It was such a shame that Brother Ji Chen was… One of them.
This was really unexpected of him.
Lu Yifei seemed concerned and he quickly walked to Yu Shengjie and instructed, “Xiaonian mustn’t know about this or else I’d be doomed.”
Yu Shengjie thought otherwise. “Why not? Maybe she could be of your help.”
That little girl was a sympathetic person. She would never allow her Elder Brother to treat this man mercilessly!
“No, she can’t. Ji Chen mentioned before that he’ll make sure I vanish into thin air if Xiaonian ever finds out about us. I knew from the beginning that there’s no future between me and him. Xiaonian mustn’t learn about this albeit how things had turned out. Please, can you keep this secret to yourself?”
Ji Chen’s warning remained a fresh memory in his mind.
He could even imagine how Ji Chen might torture him if their relationship was exposed.
Ji Chen cared a lot about how Xiaonian thought of him, or perhaps it could be said that he kept the relationship underground because he had never wanted to disappoint his young sister.
Hence, Lu Yifei could not reveal the truth to Xiaonian no matter what.
Yu Shengjie seemed to have understood Lu Yifei’s difficulty and sighed as he nodded. “Deal, I won’t mention a thing, but let me remind you that the truth always comes out in the end. Niannian will learn about it sooner or later.”
“Perhaps I’ll no longer be in this world by then!”
He lifted his gaze to meet Yu Shengjie and expressed his gratitude. “Thanks.”
“Not a problem,” the man replied while shaking his head.
Lu Yifei then hurried upstairs to get Ji Xiaonian.
The three of them left for Ning University after breakfast.
On the way, Ji Xiaonian did not forget to check in on Lu Yifei. “How’re you feeling today? Do you feel better? You should tell me who the other person is so that I can ask Elder Brother to teach him a lesson.”
Surprised, Lu Yifei looked over his shoulder at the little girl. He felt rather touched upon seeing the girl being indignant for his trouble.
He forced a smile as he patted her on the head. “I’m alright. What about you? Are you feeling better, too?”
Ji Xiaonian pursed her lips. “I’m used to getting hurt so it’s okay!”
She appeared to be fine but who would have known about the pain that was eating away at her heart!
Perhaps only Yu Shengjie in the backseat realized the little girl was pretending to be good!
Lu Yifei drove the car into Ning University, but he already thought something did not feel right as soon as they passed through the gate.
This was because numerous students were looking at him.
He was driving really slowly because this particular road was packed with students all of a sudden. Soon, they surrounded his car and blocked his way.
Both Ji Xiaonian and Yu Shengjie were also curious. The fact that they came to school with a sports car was not uncommon because this university was densely packed with students from wealthy families.
Before they could make sense of what was happening, a huge egg suddenly came flying from the crowd and landed on Lu Yifei’s head.
He stepped on the brake immediately and the car came to a halt abruptly.
Taken aback, Ji Xiaonian wanted to leap out from the car to give the person a scolding. They should not throw eggs at people!
However, before words could escape her mouth, she discovered numerous students from the crowd yelling and pointing their fingers at Lu Yifei.
“How could our university have a gay like you?”
“Get out right now, don’t stain the reputation of our university.”
“That’s right, get out. Get out.”
Like crackling firecrackers, the students began throwing things at Lu Yifei’s direction.
Ji Xiaonian was completely in shock when she unfolded one of the papers that the students had thrown into the car. The photo of Lu Yifei and another man in bed suddenly appeared before her eyes.
The photo was captioned “Ning University’s Greatest-looking Student Prostitute Having the Time of His Life in the Hotel with a Mystery Man.”
Lu Yifei was not wearing any clothes in the photo and his facial expression was exposed. Although the other man that was torturing him was in the photo too, his face was covered in mosaic, making his identity unclear.
Ji Xiaonian was in great shock.
The students were repeatedly swearing at Lu Yifei. People threw eggs as well as rotten vegetables at him while berating him simultaneously. The latter only remained in his seat silently, allowing the provokers to do whatever they pleased.
She could not take it any longer. Immediately, she rose to her feet and yelled at the crowd, “Stop! Shut up! Yifei is not that kind of person, the two of them are in a consensual relationship. Please stop throwing things at him. The other man is the actual d*uchebag.”
