Let’s Grow Old Together When You’ve Matured - Chapter 57
Chapter 57: Send Her Overseas
A moment later, Bai Yan arrived at his decision.
He motioned for Tang Caiqi and Xiao Xiao to leave the room.
The two dormmates exchanged glances. As if they understood Professor Bai’s intention, the two then quietly left the room without uttering a single word.
With that, the only ones remaining in the room were Fang Miaoling and Bai Yan.
For some reason, being alone with Bai Yan was a nerve-wracking experience for Fang Miaoling, to the extent that she dared not even look at Bai Yan in the eyes.
Despite that, Bai Yan’s expression remained unchanged. He continued looking at her, and his gaze locked onto her face.
“Pack up, I’m going to send you home to rest for two days. Once those two days are up, I’ll arrange for you to study overseas,” Bai Yan stated matter-of-factly.
‘The only way to handle this situation is by sending Fang Miaoling overseas.’
Otherwise, that little girl was bound to pummel Fang Miaoling again within the next few days. At this point, one might tell Bai Yan to just ignore Fang Miaoling, but if he had done so, how would Fang Miaoling’s father ever forgive him?
In that case, one might ask, why not just handle that little girl instead?
Needless to say, Bai Yan worried that he might incite Ji Chen’s wrath should he choose to settle it on Ji Xiaonian’s end instead! Moreover, he was also reluctant to lay his hands on the girl.
“What?”
Upon hearing those words from Bai Yan’s mouth, Fang Miaoling instantly lifted her head and stared at Bai Yan in shock. “W-Why? Why are you sending me overseas? I don’t want to head overseas, Big Brother Bai.”
‘Why is he sending me overseas?’
‘I was the one who got hit. He should be punishing Ji Xiaonian instead! So, why is this man trying to send me overseas?’
While sending Fang Miaoling abroad was definitely beneficial for her, she also understood that Bai Yan’s main goal was to protect Ji Xiaonian.
She was utterly confused. ‘Didn’t he take me as his sister? Even so, why is she treating Ji Xiaonian even better than me?”
“With your smarts, it’ll definitely be a major benefit for you to study abroad. Plus, do you know how many students would like to be in your position right now? Wasn’t it your goal to be a cut above others?”
Since Bai Yan already made his decision, he would not go back on his words. Once he returned, he would immediately tell his secretary to arrange for Fang Miaoling to study overseas.
“I…” Bai Yan had phrased it in a way that made it seem that he was doing it for her sake. As such, Fang Miaoling was momentarily speechless.
‘It’s true. Heading overseas is really an opportunity that many seek.’
‘But I don’t want to leave.’
‘I don’t want to leave this newfound wealthy family that I’ve just obtained.’
However, Fang Miaoling also knew that, now that the man before her had made his choice, she was destined to never get her desired ending. She had two choices, one, was to stop being his sister, and the other was to leave the country.
Throughout all these years, Fang Miaoling had been working part-time while she studied. She had lived each day fearing the next, and as such, how would she have dared to give up on the man before her!
For that reason, Fang Miaoling had chosen to head overseas.
After a moment, she then nodded her head and answered, “Alright, I’ll do as you wish.”
Bai Yan rose to his feet, and from his towering position, he looked down at her, “Don’t worry, once you reach the States, I’ll arrange for someone to receive you. I’ll plan everything out perfectly, so, you just focus on your studies.”
Fang Miaoling reluctantly nodded, “Okay.”
“Well then, you should start packing up your stuff. I’ll start working on the transfer procedures.”
“Okay.”
Bai Yan turned around and left, and while he made his way out, he made a call to his secretary, telling her to handle Fang Miaoling’s visa.
Perhaps due to his position as a lecturer at Ning University, the transfer process was rather straightforward. Before long, Bai Yan had already returned to Fang Miaoling’s room with the transfer form in his hands.
Fang Miaoling’s departure was something no one had expected.
Aside from Ji Xiaonian, Fang Miaoling’s other dormmates were in tears when they heard the news of her transfer.
Bai Yan was waiting for her below the dorms, and while he waited, many students began to flock over to his side.
Each of those students was staring at him as if they were mesmerized. Those who were not taking pictures of him would gossip among one another about how dashing and handsome he was.
It was noon at this point. After stuffing herself in the cafeteria once her punishment was lifted, Ji Xiaonian had planned to take a nice afternoon nap in her room. However, when she reached the dormitory, she noticed that a massive crowd had gathered under the building.
Curious, Ji Xiaonian approached the crowd to get a closer look. However, when she noticed Bai Yan standing there, her curiosity had turned into confusion.
‘If I remember correctly, Bai Yan doesn’t teach any classes at Ning University today. So, what reason does he have to show himself here?’
‘Wait, don’t tell me that he knows that I hit Fang Miaoling? Is he standing out here to catch me? Is he going to avenge Fang Miaoling?’
Ji Xiaonian was certain that Bai Yan’s presence was for Fang Miaoling’s sake. When the thought crossed Ji Xiaonian’s mind, a sour sensation filled her heart.
Just as she was about to leave, however, she noticed that her two other dormmates were dragging Fang Miaoling’s luggage out of the room.
This had piqued her curiosity even further, and as a result, she mingled into the crowd and joined them in spectating the situation.
While doing so, the gossip from the surrounding students had made their way into her ears.
“Hey, I heard that Professor Bai has taken that girl as his sister. That’s pretty weird, why does Professor Bai want to take in a sister?”
“I know right? There’s nothing interesting about that girl.”
“From what I heard, Professor Bai treats that girl extremely well. This time, he has arranged for the girl to transfer schools, and they say that he’s sending her off to the States. Dang, I really envy that girl. Why can’t fate bless me with a life as good as hers?”
“I also heard that the girl got hit by someone today. I bet Professor Bai’s sending her away because he’s worried that she might get bullied again!”
“Oh, dear, who would be so dumb as to lay their hands on Professor Bai’s sister?”
“Only heaven knows.”
With the gossip still going on around her, Ji Xiaonian stood among the crowd and continued watching the situation as if it had nothing to do with her.
In the end, she spotted Bai Yan retrieving Fang Miaoling’s luggage from her, and once they entered the vehicle, they sped away from the dorm.
Once they left, the crowd gradually dispersed as well.
In the end, Ji Xiaonian was the only one who remained rooted in her spot.
‘Is Bai Yan really sending Fang Miaoling overseas? Why?’
‘Is it really as the students say? Is he trying to prevent Fang Miaoling from being bullied?’
‘Hmph! Who’s the one bullying who? Had that girl kept her mouth clean, I would never have raised my hand at her!’
Despite not liking Fang Miaoling all that much, for some reason, her departure had stung Ji Xiaonian’s heart. She was slightly reluctant at her departure, and it felt as if she had just lost something important.
‘Well, who cares. Her future will definitely improve now that Bai Yan has sent her abroad. Who knows, she might even have a glorious return a few years later.’
‘So, Ji Xiaonian, you had better study properly and obtain a nice job for yourself. You mustn’t allow her to look down on you.’
Just as she was about to return to her dorm and rest, someone grabbed her wrist.
Ji Xiaonian turned her head around, and upon noticing that it was Yu Shengjie, she narrowed her lips and asked, “What’s the matter?”
Yu Shengjie looked at her with a concerned expression. “I heard that you’ve been punished by the counselor, but when I went to the rostrum, you weren’t there. What’s up with that?”
She struggled out of his grip and gave a half-hearted smile. “Nah, it’s nothing serious. All I did was hit someone just as the head counselor was walking by, but don’t worry, my brother already handled the situation for me, so everything’s fine now.”
Despite that, Yu Shengjie still looked concerned. He inspected her from top to bottom, checking to see whether there were any wounds on her. He then asked, “You’re not injured, right?”
“Nope. Also, do you have any news on how the school has decided to punish Lu Yifei?”
