Life After Reaching The Pinnacle - Chapter 36 - 36: Compensation
Chapter 36 – 36: Compensation
All plans of killing Aurora vanished from Mark’s mind. There was nothing he could do now that Jev had reached the Seventh-grade Heaven Profound Stage. Even Tapori silently went to check up on the survivors of her kingdom, clearly showing that whatever was going to happen had nothing to do with her.
The gap between Seventh-grade and Sixth-grade was huge. It was considered a minor stage on its own. That’s why terms such as early, mid, and high grade were used among the cultivation stages.
If Jev decided to attack him, even if he somehow survived, he was sure to suffer major injuries and might even be left with a lifetime of them. He didn’t want that.
Jev asked in a low voice, controlling his anger, “What is the meaning of this, Mark? Do you want to kill a genius from our kingdom in front of my eyes?”
“What the heck are you saying? I didn’t do anything. That girl is just making things up,” Mark shouted in his defense. He was truly bewildered by how things were going.
As if waiting for the moment, Aurora coughed up even more blood. Her face went pale, and she looked like she could die at any moment.
Jev was even more horrified and hurriedly went toward Aurora, giving her some high-quality healing pills. He then looked at Mark and growled, “Do you still want to deny it? Can’t you clearly see what you have done? Let me tell you, if anything happens to her, I’ll hunt you down to the ends of the earth.”
“Don’t be arrogant, Jev, just because you’re more powerful now. I said I didn’t do anything, which means I didn’t do anything. If you still don’t believe me, you can do whatever you want. Coralhelm isn’t afraid of anyone,” Mark hissed in anger. He was truly on the verge of exploding, and he hadn’t even done anything yet.
Jev was going to rebuke Mark but Aurora stopped him by putting her hand on his shoulder and said in a weak voice “I don’t want the kingdoms to go on war for me, I’ll be happy as long as he compensates me with something.”
Everyone turned speechless and looked at Aurora with various type of gazes.
‘Who’s going to war for you? And what compensation, it’s clear that you’re trying to scam me.’ Mark wanted to shout those words at Aurora but he kept them in.
By now, even Jev had calmed down and understood that Aurora was just trying to scam Mark. Of course, he decided to support her. He always wanted to get back at Mark, and now this was a good chance. How could he let it go?
Jev hesitated but, as if coming to an agreement on something, he sighed and said, “Fine, I’ll do as you say. But you’re too kind for this world, Aurora. You’re letting go of a person who tried to kill you so that the innocent soldiers of our kingdom don’t die a pointless death. Don’t worry, I’ll make Mark give you the compensation you deserve.”
Jev’s tone was full of righteousness, and it looked like he was ready to fight for justice.
This time even Aurora looked at Jev with a speechless expression. ‘The hell!! Where do these soldiers and sacrifice come from? What the heck are you talking about, old man!? But I have to say, his acting is good. He can actually do an act with me.’
By now, every single person had understood the situation, as Aurora’s and Jev’s acting was way too bad. Even a ten-year-old child could do better acting than them.
They were all thinking of just how shameless they could get.
But in Jev’s and Aurora’s view, their acting was top class, and they were even proud of it. The original appearance of this chapter can be found at Ñøv€lß1n.
Jev then turned his head to Mark and said in an overbearing tone, “Mark, since Aurora has decided to forgive you, I won’t attack you, but you better give her suitable compensation.”
Mark understood his situation, since they had already decided, what was the point in arguing? ‘Since you have a big fist, you can do whatever you want.’ Mark knew that, so he just took out a broadsword and threw it at Jev regretfully.
“It’s a broadsword named Firestorm, and it’s an Origin Grade sword. I think it’s good compensation for something I didn’t even do,” Mark said as Jev began inspecting the sword.
Seeing that the sword was real, he gave it to Aurora, who also checked it and looked satisfied with it.
Mark scoffed in his heart and said, “I’m going if you’re done with your drama.”
After saying that, he turned around and began walking with the few surviving members of his kingdom. However, before he could advance much, a voice came from behind him, making him stumble on the rocks.
“Hey, it’s just a sword that I can’t use. It’s too big for me. Can you give me something else?” Aurora asked innocently as she waved the sword in the air.
Mark took deep breaths to calm his emotions; otherwise, he was afraid he’d kill this girl right at the moment.
He then took off his storage ring, threw it at Aurora, and flew off. He didn’t want to stay a second longer.
Aurora caught the storage ring and clicked her tongue in annoyance, mumbling, “What a cheapskate. It’s just a sword, anyway.”
Everyone who was nearby heard her and almost had an urge to give her a smack.
Tapori had also slipped away, seeing that the drama was over.
Jev also returned to his usual self and looked at Rey, Shihab, and Aurora, who were the only ones who survived in the tomb. He sighed, thinking of the incident today.
“Let’s go back,” Jev said and began walking. Since the explosion had destroyed everything in the surroundings, their boat was also destroyed, so they could only go by running.
In a room of a luxurious grand palace, a youth was sitting cross-legged with his eyes closed on his bed. The air around him seemed to crackle with an overwhelming aura, radiating a majestic and commanding presence.
All of a sudden, his eyes shot open, and his whole body began trembling as if he had witnessed something horrifying. His eyes were filled with unease and a little fear. It was then he heard a voice.
[Oh! What happened? Is there something that can make the bearer of ‘The Heart’s Desire’ uneasy?]
