Life As A Servant - Chapter 107
Bert smiled as he faced the masked youngster, who he was sure that it was Bin. He glanced at the four men standing around his target but didn’t think much of them.
Bin wasn’t in the mood to chat, he raised his gun and fired at Bert, the four men also did the same but the bullets were useless. The small and fast projectiles were met with an invisible barrier which caused them to fall on the ground like they were some metal scraps.
“Now that we’ve met, I can’t bear to part with you. Oh and Zeni send his warm greetings and is looking forward to reuniting with his favorite subject!”
Once that name was mentioned, Bin remembered a lunatic with green and purple hair, face riddled with piercing and tattoos that covered him from head to toe. He was the main researcher in charge of him and the other kids and he was truly a mad scientist.
Bert looked around as if he was confused before adding: “I don’t see little Mina here would you be so kind as to bring her too?”
Bin grit his teeth as he assessed the situation. The two men with Bert were experts and strong magic-users, since bullets aren’t going to work on them, he’s practically useless. He’ll have to rely on Melissa’s men, who didn’t betray his expectations. The four tall and muscular men charged at Bert and his guys, three illusory daggers appeared in the air and were thrown at the trio. Unlike the bullets, the daggers were able to penetrate the invisible barrier but were easily deflected by the short swords.
The man with scratches on his face wanted to take down Bert first but his body was pushed by a monstrous force, making him retaliate by swinging his knife horizontally while using his magic to throw two more illusory daggers. In just a few seconds, two fights broke out, the four men split into two groups and each attacked Bert’s personal guards. This left Bin and the suit-wearing thin man alone as they faced each other.
The creepy man didn’t look strong but as his position was high, he’s definitely a magic-user.
Ten meters away from Bin and the rest, the invisible woman looked Bert’s guards then at him. Without needing to fight them, she knew they were strong but she could still handle them. It wouldn’t be as easy as one might expect but a minute or so are enough to end their lives, though that might expose her identity.
In addition to those three, there were at least fifteen black-clothed men hiding a distance away. They were obeying Bert’s orders and simply watching the unfolding events. Their task was to block Bin’s route of escape and report to the higher-ups in case something unexpected happened to their boss, Bert.
The woman felt conflicted and didn’t know if it’s worth it to interfere or no. In the end, she got closer to Bin but didn’t do anything rash and simply watched as the youngster reloaded his handgun and continued shooting at the approaching Bert, who stopped everything with his strange invisible barrier.
“I bet you have ‘it’ on you, right?”
With every step, Bert would mockingly say something. He wasn’t the least bit threatened by Bin and wasn’t able to sense the invisible woman.
“You wouldn’t trust anyone with it but how come I don’t see Shin?”
‘Shin? Who’s that?’
The woman in stealth creased her brows as she looked at Bin, who remained expressionless and unresponsive to the man’s provocations.
“You don’t know why we’re looking for you am I right? You’re a failure so why would we waste resources to get you?”
“”
Bin slowly backed away while discarding the gun and putting his hand in a hidden pocket on the left side of his chest. He clutched the triangular object while gripping the knife and readying himself.
Unfortunately, Bert had long since guessed what the young man was about to do. The thing and suit-wearing man pushed his palm toward the youngster, which caused Bin to be sent flying out of the alleyway. He rolled a few times on the ground before standing up with difficulty.
Bert frowned as he felt that a part of the barrier was blocked by something but he presumed that it was the crystal’s doing. Right when he was about to leave the alleyway and capture Bin, loud police sirens echoed in the area, followed by white and blue lights filling illuminating the area.
Three police cars drifted and stopped a distance away from Bin, the officers quickly got out of the car, raised their guns, and pointed them at the only moving figure. Bin coughed as he blocked his eyes from the blinding light.
“Drop your weapon and get on your knees!”
The police offers saw the knife in Bin’s hand so they shouted him to comply. As for Bert, he snorted, unhappy about the police’s intimely arrival. He disappeared into the alleyway like a ghost.
His two guards also retreated, leaving Melissa’s men gasping for breath and letting out soft groans. Although they had the numerical advantage, the other two were just too strong, but, fortunately, they were able to hold on for some time. The man with face scratches looked at Bin, who dropped the knife as a bunch of lights were directed at him.
It would be unwise to expose himself and the other three to the police offers so, after one last glance at the masked youth, he also left the area. Only the invisible woman remained in the alleyway, her eyes fixated on Bin, who was relatively calm despite the urgency of the situation.
“ON OUR KNEES!”
As he dropped the knife, Bin slowly got on his knee then laid on the floor with both hands behind his head. Three police officers surrounded him, immobilized him, and swiftly handcuffed him.
“You are under arrest! You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before any questioning if you wish. “
