Life As A Servant - Chapter 124
Today, Jasmine’s midday class was on the training grounds of the academy and the teacher in charge was the beautiful Julia, Scarlett’s friend, and one of the famous figures of this school. Unlike the previous beginner course Bin had witnessed in the past, the students today needed to perform advanced magic and showcase their skills to please the teacher and get graded based on their capabilities.
The strict female teacher wasn’t as harsh with the current students as with the freshmen as they were hard-working and rarely messed around or slacked. In addition to Jasmine’s class, the third-years and soon-to-be graduates were also present, including Joseph.
The young man looked as dashing as ever, his long hair made into a ponytail, which only made him look manlier. He was taller than his peers and proudly stood at the front, facing Julia and quietly listening to her, like all the rest.
In total, there were fifty or so students, most second-years that belonged to Jasmine’s class. Speaking of Bin’s master, she would sometimes glance at Joseph, her face blushing as if she thought about something. Other than her, Rika was standing at the back, seemingly absent-minded, while Cara was whispering something to a girl next to her.
Last but not least was Melissa, who couldn’t be bothered to listen and was actually staring back at Bin and Elise, who stood far away, outside of the round training grounds.
“So, what do you think about these ‘esteemed’ students?”
Bin asked his twin sister, his tone containing a bit of mockery. Although she was a bit far from the teacher, Elise would clearly her and was so focused that she replied only after some time passed.
“Nothing much. I can’t gauge their Mana Pools but they’re nothing compared to the freaks in the facility.”
She gazed at the third-years which demonstrated their well-controlled magic abilities, then added, “Sure, their control is good but if they’re put in a life or death battle, I doubt they can do anything but run.”
Elise looked at her brother, whose face was expressionless as ever, and commented, “In my opinion, you’re much dangerous if you have your gun.”
He chuckled and shrugged his shoulders. “Meeeh I only kill the people from the facility.”
“That doesn’t make you any less dangerous.”
“Whatever, it’s not like you’re any different. By the way, you killed Hayden, right?”
“Hayden? You mean that disgusting piece of shit? I didn’t like him. Plus, he wanted to kill you.”
Bin hugged his arms and emotionally said, “Ah! My sister is so protective, I feel soo safe~~”
He sat on a nearby bench and looked at the group of students unleashing fireballs, raising the ground to form a small thin wall, or even shooting lightning bolts, which didn’t look that dangerous. Sure, this magic can hurt people like him but a bullet to the head can also kill these students. Magic is useful but only if you’re good at it, to master it you need hard-work and talent while anyone can use a knife or a gun, even a kid.
Elise stood a couple of meters in front of Bin, trying to get as close as possible so she can properly and clearly hear Julia.
Julia had long since noticed Bin and Elise’s presence. Previously, she was interested in Bin but another person with an absurd amount of Mana inside their body made their appearance, shocking her to the core. Honestly, she was interested in studying and teaching them but held herself back. The strange masked girl seemed to be a genuine magic-user who’s different than these students as the Mana inside her body was red and flowed in reverse.
After all the students demonstrated what they could do, with the third-years being clearly superior to the second-years, Julia separated them into two groups and told them to spar.
It was really a spar, per se, but a small test where one party attacks, with magic, of course, and the other defends. It was mainly meant for the second-years in order to see if they can cope with those who are stronger than them.
Elise looked at Jasmine, who was happily chatting with Joseph, unaware of the gazes the two were getting.
“Your master is quite the beauty. She knows how to choose men too.”
Bin scoffed and retorted, “Is that so?”
“Yup, that student is probably the best amongst all of them but his smile seems fake maybe it’s my imagination though.”
Elise glanced at Bin and said, “Aren’t you worried?”
“About what?”
“Her, of course. At this rate, she’ll be taken. I thought you two had something going on.”
“Don’t make me laugh. You think I have the time for love when I’m going to die in two months?”
Hearing this, Elise shut her mouth and proceeded to watch in total silence.
Five minutes passed before Bin spoke again.
“You’re eyeballs are about to come out if you continue staring like this. Do you want to join them?”
“Hmpf! Mind your own business.”
“You sure? I was about to tell you a plan that might help you join them.”
Elise’s body twitched, she turned her stiff neck toward her brother and looked intently at him. The youth grinned and spoke again.
“It’s sad, I was about to help but you told me to mind my own business. Coming from my sister, it’s hurtful.”
She continued to stare at him without saying anything.
“I might reconsider if you say ‘please’.”
“You”
“What? Is that objection that I’m hearing? Never mind then.”
He crossed his arms and took out his phone, about to ignore her. Seconds passed and, in the end, with an almost inaudible voice, Elise squeezed a word
” Please.”
