Life As A Servant - Chapter 125
“Ok, listen”
Bin motioned for her to come closer then whispered a long chain of words into her ear. After he finished talking, Elise tilted her head and questioned,
“Will it really work? It seems obvious.”
Her brother, still grinning, retorted.
“It should be obvious. Going at it in a timid way will only lead to a bad ending. They’re rich and arrogant who consider themselves the best so when a strange meddles in, they’ll want to prove themselves, naturally.”
Elise instinctively nodded her head and followed what he said, her black pupils looking at the group of students ‘sparring’ together.
The exchange between the students was proceeding smoothly with the third years always emerging victorious, nevertheless, some of the second-years were quite talented. For example, Jasmine was good at using her magic but she wasn’t a ‘genius’. She cast a small fireball which was easily deflected by an older female student, who raised a wall of earth.
Bin noticed that the magic they’re using takes time to unleash and isn’t deadly but it could still inflict serious damage, especially the fireballs and the invisible and fast wind blades, which are the hardest to master.
As instructed by her brother, slowly but surely, the masked girl walked closer to the students but her arrival was unnoticed by the busy students. Only when she got a bit too close did they start glancing at her, even Joseph swept a look at her and furrowed his brows but since the teacher didn’t say anything, he maintained silence.
Julia also saw the incoming Elise but she wasn’t angry, just curious and confused about the stranger’s actions. Elise’s master, Rika, did see her new servant approach, which wasn’t something she ordered but she reacted like the rest, eyeing the masked female with confusion.
At some point, one of the better third years named Rolo was faced with Cara, who wasn’t as good as her friends. The spar quickly began and the short-haired girl conjured a weak water ball which splashed against the smirking Rolo and did nothing at all. Elise, who was very close to the two, chuckled as she eyed Rolo, who felt proud.
Her laugh, which sounded very mocking, caught the attention of everyone, including Julia, who laid back and watched from the sidelines.
Cara was busy amassing her Mana and trying to attack again so she didn’t care about Elise but Rolo wasn’t pleased as his moment of triumph was ruined since all the eyes were fixated on the masked girl. He signaled for Cara to stop before saying
“Excuse me, this is a training ground meant for students.”
He did feel a bit angry but he spoke politely but his eyes contained a bit of hostility. He didn’t if Elise’s ridicule was meant for him or Cara but the girl was staring back at him, which only meant that she was making fun of him for doing nothing, apparently. It was a kind of stupid tactic, almost childish but it did the job and allowed Elise to steal the spotlight.
“”
Hearing no answer from the girl, who crossed her arms and stood there like a statue, Rolo turned toward the one in charge, Julia.
The female teacher fixed her glasses and said
“Who might you be?”
“Just a servant.” Perfunctorily replied Elise.
“This is a training ground, no one but the students are allowed here.”
“Oh, I didn’t know. I was interested in these ‘spars’ but it appears they’re very disappointing.” Elise let out a sigh as she turned around, seemingly about to leave.
Julia didn’t speak but Rolo couldn’t hold himself.
“Disappointing? A mere servant is judging us?”
Rika, who was Elise’s master, was a bit flustered. She was about to speak but when she glanced at Bin and saw him waving his hand at her, she swallowed back her words and just watched. She knew that he was behind all of this but was oblivious to the goal he wants to achieve.
“My status has nothing to do with my abilities, then again I expected nothing from a bunch of showoffs.”
Her last words triggered many of the students, especially the third-years, whose faces twisted in anger. A slight frown appeared on Joseph’s face, his emerald eyes were focusing on the masked girl but he couldn’t read through her and didn’t interfere or react in an exaggerated manner.
As for Rolo, his face reddened as he stepped forward and loudly said.
“This is not a place for you to say whatever you want! Who’s your master?!”
Elise clicked her tongue and ignored him, her feet heading outside of this area. Seeing such behavior, Rolo was further incensed, he raised his arm and unleashed his Mana, which transformed into an invisible wind blade aimed at that servant’s back. He held back his power but such an attack can still deal serious damage to any non-magic user.
The wind blade traveled only a few meters before it crumbled by a burst of Mana originating from Julia. The teacher glared at Rolo then berated
“It’s prohibited to attack outsiders. When this matter ends, you will be properly punished, Rolo.”
Although Elise’s arrogant behavior was out of place, it doesn’t mean her students can attack anyone. She’s known to be strict and loathes students who are disobedient or act without considering the consequences, especially if it involves outsiders.
Rolo was startled as he clenched his fist and lowered his head apologetically, but he was angrily staring at the departing Elise.
“Wait a second, please.”
Julia called out for Elise, who turned around and gazed back at the black-haired teacher.
“Your words were inappropriate, I think you should apologize.”
“Apologize? Why should I? It’s not like I lied.”
“You still have to apologize.” Insisted Julia, her eyes piercing through the mask hiding Elise’s face.
“Tell you what why don’t I ‘spar’ with a couple of your strongest students and if I lose then I’ll apologize.”
Julia frowned and was about to reject only for Joseph to say
“Teacher, please let us reclaim our honor. I think it’s best to demonstrate our magic before getting the apology.”
Seeing Joseph step up, many of the students were relieved, including Jasmine. Bin’s master was displeased with Elise’s behavior and vowed to question her servant, who was leisurely sitting on a bench and laughing his ass off as he watched this ‘show’.
“This alright. Joseph, you handle it.”
Julia looked at Elise, who returned, her eyes were inspecting the masked girl’s body, whose body was filled with a unique red-colored Mana. The third-years could be considered as amateur mages and are able to demonstrate decent magic but she doubted that any of them can defeat the girl but she still didn’t interfere because she was curious. If things go for the worse, she can interfere and end this once and for all.
