Life As A Servant - Chapter 129
Bin let out a sigh and replied
“Alright.”
Then, he took out the earpiece and blocked the interception using his palm before walking closer to the children and softly saying
“Don’t worry, I will come back soon.”
At first, the children shook and didn’t reply but as they saw Bin acting kindly and smile while trying to calm them, a brave young boy revealed himself.
“Mister, will you really come back?”
The boy had tanned skin and was as skinny as the rest but he also looked older, around twelve to thirteen years old. He seemed to be the oldest as he faced the masked stranger with a bit of hope in his eyes.
“Yes, just don’t make a sound, alright?”
The boy meekly nodded his head then motioned for the other children to stay silent.
“Is there other contained here?”
The boy shook his head and said that he doesn’t know. After promising them, again, to come back, Bin pushed back the container’s door and used the chains to stop them from opening by themselves.
For the next five minutes, Bin checked the other container, especially those bound by chains, however, it seemed there was only one who had children in it, the rest only had weapons or drugs.
Actually, seeing those children like that, Bin couldn’t pretend nothing happened or he saw nothing, after all, he had been like them once. He wasn’t so cold-hearted that he’ll turn the other side and let them continue living miserably like that.
If he doesn’t do anything, they’ll either be sent to a place like the facility, sold to rich people with disgusting fetishes or be sent to black-market hospitals so their organs can be sold for a high price at the underground auctions, there’s no happy end for them, that’s for sure.
“Bin, are you listening to me?!”
“Yes, I am.”
“You didn’t do anything stupid, did you?”
“I did not. I’m looking for the documents, relax.”
After a brief period, Melissa spoke again, as if she wanted to reassure him.
“Don’t worry, those children will be rescued later on. The documents are the decisive factor.”
“Can you say that with certainty?”
“Excuse me?”
She didn’t seem to understand what he meant to say as she blurted that out, her tone that of a confused person.
“Can you say with absolute certainty that they’ll be saved? Are you the one who’s going to save them? Or is the police going to arrive? I can accept following your orders but don’t try to lie to me.”
Melissa didn’t reply to him and he didn’t press her for a reply either. He looked everywhere around the deck and after making sure there were no hidden rooms, he entered the living cabins and found most of the on-duty guards dead.
Most of the doors were opened and the rooms were flipped upside down, indicating that the other three men already rummaged through this place.
“Remind me again, what do the documents look like? Anything specific thing about their appearance or contents?”
Bin asked the listening Melissa while flipping the already upside-down mattresses and desks.
“That’s the thing, they look just like any other documents. They should be tightly sealed though as for their contents, they are about future dealings of the organization you’re going to steal it from. The exact times, from and to where the shipments will be transported, their quantities, price, buyers, sellers, etc”
“I thought that, as a servant, I’m not eligible to know so many details.”
“Yeah but you’re not like any other servant else I would not have hired you.”
“Wow! I feel so honored. tsk!” Bin clicked his tongue and proceeded to search the other rooms, which were equally rummaged and littered with the corpses.
It seemed his associates killed them when they were asleep, pretty cruel but necessary to not alert the rest.
However, sooner or later, the bodies will be discovered and more enemies will arrive, which isn’t favorable to Bin, who’s already lagging behind and wasn’t planning on ignoring the children as ordered by his master.
Several minutes later, Bin heard fighting noises coming from a bit ahead. He walked a bit faster with the gun in his hand and, as expected, he saw his three companions facing four other armed guards. Furthermore, several gunshots have been fired and their loud sound must’ve woken up all the rest, which should be arriving soon.
The good thing is that the documents seemed to be in the hands of his companions. It was the leader of the trio, he hid behind the wall and tightly held his gun, took a deep breath, and fired.
Bin was standing a distance away and had a great view of their fight. He could lend a hand but he decided not to.
“They got the documents. What do I do?”
Since Melissa hired him, he decided to ask her before he does any unnecessary thing.
A second after he talked, the girl’s voice entered his ear.
“Wait for an opportunity and snatch them. You need to bring them to me and no one else! I will be waiting for you ten kilometers away from the port, a secluded place near the shore.”
Just as she finished talking, more enemies arrived from the other side, causing Bin to switch to another location. As for his three companions, they seemed to be cornered but their aim was much better than the other party so they disposed of several enemies before attempting to leave the place.
Bin impatiently waited for the incoming men to chase after his comrades before going back the way he came from and leaving the cabins. He could still hear gunshots coming from the other side but he paid them no heed and, instead, he dashed to the red container and hastily opened it.
As he faced the kids again, he put his index over his lips, signaling them to not utter any sound before motioning for them to exit the container and escape. The tanned kid from before led the children, who sneakily and swiftly went down the staircase and quickly left the boat. As for Bin, he was a bit behind them, busy taking care of several men who caught a whiff of what’s happening.
The enemies were firing at him but he used the clustered containers to hide then shoot whenever an opportunity arises. He aimed at their arms and legs, immobilizing them for a short period of time before slowly backing off.
Just when he was ten or so meters from the long staircase, his three companions appeared of nowhere, madly running while continuously shooting at the pursuers.
One of them seemed to be wounded and was slower than his two comrades. When he was about to reach the staircase, he tripped and fell, causing the other two to stop. One of the two covered his friend while the other went to help him.
Still hiding behind a container, Bin gazed at the leader, who was still holding the documents and firing at the enemies. A second after the other passed and when the man lowered his hand and was about to reload his handgun, his left hand, which was holding the documents, was shot, causing him to let go of them and groan in pain.
Bin appeared from behind the container, ran past the injured man and the two others, and took the staircase, of course without forgetting to pick up the documents.
Seeing the youth escape after securing the documents, the three were infuriated but they didn’t chase after him as the black-suited enemies kept shooting.
Although Bin was successful, he was still shot in the back, however, it hit the thick black jacket and wasn’t able to penetrate it, fortunately. He bore through the pain and continued running.
